Huh? they pant in the dessert? i'm not in a dessert, i'm using BOP could it be a bug?
BOP lists these biomes as Deserts, and they will pant in these biomes
Badlands, Canyon, Canyon Ravine, Desert, Dunes, Lush Desert, Mesa, Outback, Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Scrubland, Steppe

Not having seen BoP, I can only go by what I see in the maid mod source; but I do seem to recall a line or two referring to the biome's base temperature, and the panting sound is when the temperature is above a certain amount -- so it's not by biome by name, particularly, but by the float value of the biome temperature.
I don't believe it would be easier to compare per biome name, as perhaps we might think it is done; I see far too many biome mods available to compare them all. A base temperature comparison is the simplest way to do it, so as long as a biome's temp is within a respectable range, the "panting" should work as expected -- although in my own work, I'm also considering adding support for more maid voices per temperature ranges, such as a "shivering" voice for the cold biomes, maybe a sigh of contentment in the "ideal" biome temperature range, -- and possibly other commentary on the time, weather, and working task....

That said, as far as the sounds are concerned, my work in the last few days have brought me back around to an old idea I had, of overhauling the maid sounds somewhat, and in fact making a separate mod for handling maid sound-events. I have an initial "mini-readme" of my thoughts so far in this regard, that I'm sharing from my DropBox account: MaidSoundsReadMe.txt
About Playerform, dunno. I never used it. But models you put them in mods folder and they should work.Perhaps they dont work due to incompabilities between versions, but you can always try.
things are being worked on, this 1.7.10 version is a full rewrite of the mod. The structure is completely different. Give it time until the version is stable, then we'll see maid textures being ported.

That explains why Player Form Maid doesn't work for the 1.7.10 version.. Also, Kyubey's in there for some reason. Maybe he signed a 'magical contract' with the mod makers to put himself in the mod.

So after some further testing, despite loading properly, it appears LMM may *NOT* be working in SMP environments. We've been getting sporadic crashes while exploring new regions, however, the crash log does not mention any particular mod. Remembering my earlier post reporting that using the LMM spawn egg crashes servers, I tried disabling the mod and exploring extensively, and it hasn't happened since. While this isn't hard evidence since, again, the logs don't mention any mod in particular, the crash reason is awfully similar and disabling seems to have fixed it, so it's a possibility.

You can play with it 1.7.10, yes. But it is on alpha, so bugs and missing features should be expected.
I don't understand what are you trying to say, I guess you want to modify the mod or models?

For playerform, just download the files from the guy's thread and drop them in your mods folder.
The mod, yes, unless you are going to get any economical profit. The thread, then ask KuroNeko87.
You can modify the MOD and redistribute it, as long as you do not earn any money.
