Simply amazing work in this mod. I don't know how you do it, I would choose this mod over any other mod ever made. Im ambitious for the next update, can't wait :D. It will be for 1.6.2, correct?

hes aiming for 1.6. other than that, its ready when its ready.
you know how it is with programming. sometimes you run into frustrating roadbumps, so its hard to tell and never a good idea to make promises. but from his teasers, it seems to be coming along nicely.

Only thing I wish for would be a "progress %" as in how much he thinks he has finished off. Would really like to know just how "close" he actually is. So many features already look finished, what is left to do?
research used to be a dull resource sink, while he turned it into a minigame now.
wands still function essentially the same, other than that they use up less inventory space, and have to be charged on nodes. i dont see the problem with that.
i would imagine, crystal capacitors and/or vis crystals will now funcion as some sort of batteries for long expeditions, like twilight forest adventuring, and to power thaumic devices, like the arcane bore, with essentia.
or you just take an extra wand with you, when both have the charging enchantment so you can just switch between them.
overall, i think the new mechanics are kind of cool and the variety in wand crafting recipes might bring some interesting combinations, depending on what the different materials add to the wands.
just give it a chance, imo. maybe youll like the new mechanics.
Meh, I'm just lazy and wish Wands would refill automatically
Also Azanor, The main post says: How to add ThaumCaft Generation instead of How to add ThaumCraft Generation
Perhaps some sort of augment to the wand or a specially-designed shaft (rather than just pure wood/obsidian) made to remotely drain the nearest node? Personally, I'd like that more than for it to be an enchantment. The purple enchantment glow sort of gets in the way of the sprites, and it might prove difficult to render on a custom 3D model rather than a sprite-- plus, it would give more opportunities to customize the wand's model. Speaking of which, Azanor-- will there be any provisions for modding in one's own foci? Is it possible to change the textures (orange fire, green excavation) or the models (equal trade rings, nine hells spikes)?
Welp... I want it now. Like right now. Give me the goodness... now (jk) But really, that looks like some fun stuff. 'Scuse me while my inner self fish-flops on the ground in anticipation.
I posted this on the thaumcraft 3.1 not 4 thread, but I figure I would repost it incase people are no longer looking at that thread Seeing Azanor's wand video has given me a bit of an idea. Instead of spells you could customize the wand focus's (foci?) to do different things. This could possibly be done through an enchantment type system. For example you could have the normal fire wand focus, but by putting some sort of 'enchantment' on it you could change it to be a fire ball, or an explosion instead of the normal fire spread. Another idea would be to combine focus together. For example the fire focus plus the earth focus might create a fireball. The focus pouch looked like it had plenty of room so I can picture a Thaumaturge with his pouch with a focus for every situation. This would also be a cool place for add on mods to experiment in. Finally I think in order to balance the game the focus should degrade with use in order to force players to have to expand more resources on this and it doesn't become too powerful.

I was going to make a witty and awesome signature but I feel kind of lazy, maybe another day.

wouldnt the fire focus combined with the excavation one give you more of a ray kind of weapon?
though i approve. i would like to ignite mobs with a kind of pew pew magical laser beam.
Really like the new direction this is taking. It has a considerably more visceral feel concerning the actual use of the offensive artifacts. Two questions however.
1. I never saw what your decision was concerning the texturing. Are you sticking with a hodgepodge of 16x and 32x or are you going full HD with 32x or more?
2. Was.. was that an Ultima Online backpack I spied in the video?
With 2 exceptions (the thaumonomicon and the harness) item textures are all 16x16. The exceptions are there simply because the 16x16 versions of them looks terrible.
There are a few more 32x32 blocks, but for the most part they look like 16x16 textures but have 32x32 highlights (like the ores).
I am taking a step back with models as well - everything is blocky.
I don't like the high detail models some mods are using these days. If I have the time I will be redoing the harness model to be a bit more blocky and reducing the texture resolution. The new thaumometer is hexagonal, but it is close enough to blocky that I don't think it looks that out of place.
*Waves Hand* No, that is not the UO backpack texture you are looking for.
On a serious note: I freely admit that a lot of my art resources are from free or public domain sources (like the icons) and I attribute those that require it. I found the backpack texture lying in a directory on my drive. I've been collecting little odds and ends off the web for years now and since I never played UO myself I never realised it's source. Oops.
Since the release of the video I've changed the backpack texture and any resemblace to a UO backpack is purely coincidental.
very interesting and good to hear from you again, On one ofthe videos I spied a new golem with an odd iron glove on it's hand, are we getting a new offensive golem? also me and the rest of my server is dieing to know, Will the infusion altar and the crucible n jars of aspects survive the up date? na side note.....please tell me there's some sorta fancy gear to help us not take damage in a tainted area. D:
I don't think you'll ever read this Azanor but I would love if i could help beta test your mod but I also wanted to tell your my favorite mod author ever and i cant wait till the new thaumcraft comes out so keep being awsome! Azanor! bye

i think that gauntlet was a dart launcher. im more interested in what the golem was actually made of, because it was obviously not an iron golem.

Alright interesting. I had a good amount of 32x texture pack support done before you announced you were changing no insignificant amount of things around. I noticed that the wands have a somewhat more fleshed out 3D appearence to them, will we be able to add different textures to those and other models? Also if you are downgrading some of the existing textures perhaps you would consider posting a 'scrapbook' of those textures for any HD artists looking to support your pack as close to source as possible.

Hah, fair enough. When I saw that backpack it just hit me with a cold bucket of nostalgia, wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy.
forgive me for crowding in with comments on the research when dat wands seems to be the current topic trend still, but what bits were shown in the video on your channel looks very promising, the learning about aspects by the knowledge of the interaction between others is good, but the researching blocks with the thaumometer to learn about their aspects seems like a really big step in addressing that you didn't really have any control except hoping to be lucky over when you research what and in what order.
yes, i'll try to stop drooling now, just to be clear the wands system looks amazing as well, i just wanted to comment on that because of the particular issue and frustration i had with the research system.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.

I figured fire plus earth would produce some sort of giant molten rock type thing however I just made that up off the top of my head to use for an example and it doesn't have to be exactly like that.

yeah i'll agree there, the more detailed look wasn't really a bad thing imho.

is there an Estimated time on when thaumcraft will be available on 1.6.2

whelp. depending how the charging enchantment works, that might still happen.

Will the individual wand foci (not sure what the real name for them are) be enchantable?

I'm not :\
I really liked the detailed look on his items, and he most certainly won't be making both as options. I'm sad now.
