Hi azanor im still getting and index out of bounds error and was wondering if there is anyway to fix it. i have the forge logs and id dump's to if those would be of any help. if you want me to pm them or just put them here in a spoiler.
I really like the idea of the personal dimension. Very cool concept there.
I have no idea how one would do it, but if you could have some sort of teleportation system going on there with multiple doors to your dimension... Combining that with Millénaire, you could totally have an awesome 'Howl's Moving Castle' effect on the door, and that would be really sweet.
However, I think that this should really be a 'thaumic tinkerer' sort of addon to thaumcraft. I'd hate to have to wait even longer for this fantabulous update.
well, in principle azanor wouldnt have to delay the thaumcraft 3.1 release for such a feature. depending on what he has planned, it could always be added in another update.
well, in principle azanor wouldnt have to delay the thaumcraft 3.1 release for such a feature. depending on what he has planned, it could always be added in another update.
Exactly, no need me to mention that if ya can figure out that for something like THAT big, might actually take a small few or average several months to make. Thaumcraft 3 would be Horribly delayed for a long just for something like that.
Instead it can be worked by the guy who made Thuamic Tinkerers. By Azanor himself if he wants it to adhere specifically how he wants it by working on it separate from the mod, or by another developer who'd like to contribute by releasing an additional Addon mod to Azanors amazing mod, While Azanor continues to work on Thaumcraft itself to his leisure.
b.) the research for the arcane door, and the portable hole leads to a research for a door into a pocket dimension. (it could be placed against any wall, and upon opening, the animation would look like a portable hole corridor). this dimension is basically empty like a mystcraft void age, except, that it contains a gigantic island, that is floating in the nothingness.
this island has its own biome and is completely hostile and tainted. at the center of the island, you will find a boss mob, that is basically a node, that is posessed by a malefic entity. (it just sits there in place)
it looks like a huge node, with an eye. (like the eyes of ender). depending on the type of node, the battle will have different mechanics. it will shoot lighning at you, it will debuff you with negative flux effects, spawn whisps, laugh at you and be generally scary.
the way to the overworld is also blocked, until you defeat the boss.
when you manage to defeat and excorcise it, you can claim the node and choose one of muliple options. purify it, which cleanses the taint and causes it to receide, the grass turns blue and the node becomes pure, trees turn into silverwoods. turn it into a flux node, to play with a more risky type of magic. or leave it as an evil node, and thrive on the taint.
you alone, and anyone with one of your keys can access the dimesion, and it can serve as a personal sanctuary. (you can visit each others sanctuaries only, when you have the key to the door of another player, and walk through his door. otherwise, it creates one separate pocket dimension for each player.).
This is probably not going to happen in basic Thaumcraft, as I believe Azanor has stated multiple times that he's not interested in making any dimensions, though who knows, that may have changed. Still, I have another idea for accessing it. Monoliths like the ones in Thaumcraft 2. Instead of them opening a secret room, they actually contain another dimension inside them. You would have to extensively research the monolith's structure with theoretical equipment bordering on pseudothaumaturgy, but eventually in later teirs you would find a way to open the secrets contained in these structures. Of course, they still would be immobile, casuing players to experiment with getting between their base and the monolith (Perhaps elderitch transport mirrors?) Anyhow, probably won't happen unless someone makes a mod for it. Really, I just want an excuse to bring back TC2 monoliths in some form.
I want to write an addon mod for this one so bad, which elaborates on the golems (the golem bell you're introducing in 3.1 looks fantastic). but first I have to learn Java ect.
are there any sources you can suggest for learning how to mod Minecraft?
Not a bad idea. IT would be cool to see a second Addon pack for Thaumcraft, but if Wolf is considering making an addon pack. We can't pressure him too much and let him experiment, have fun with his work.
And Azanor... I owe ya a apology for getting carried away about Dimensions. Thats my fault V_v;
The personal dimension idea sounds awesome. But I would rather this be treated as a addon like Thuamic Tinkerers, so Azanor can focus on what he has thus far. Specially since it sound slike something pretty big.

I do have a question, do you have a link to the one developing Thaumic Tinkerer?
Thankyou! I'll look at them and see what i can do.
Also, I'm currently doing an LP using Thaumcraft, Thaumic Tinkerer and some other mods, if anyone would like a link to the series feel free to PM me (I feel like it would be rude to just put a link here). I warn you though, I'm not the best at LPing (i think I have 27 subs?)
And one of the things I've wanted to do for a long time (back when i was playing FTB and never uploaded the footage) was build an automatic sorting/refining/storage system using golems. but, the limitations of the marker system made it difficult, so I am ECSTATIC about the 3.1 update with the Golem Bell!
It'll let me finally do my Golem powered UberStorage System!
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Azanor, I've found a glitch/bug. you can make decanting golem's pick up any liquid when they are assigned to a crucible. tell them to pick up lava and they'll collect it and put it in the crucible... and the crucible will be filled with water, not lava.
Also, I just broke a chest an brainey clay golem was assigned to and my game crashed

Just had a look at the preview vids. Looks absolutely awesome!
One thing though, will this have support for Tinkerers Construct in terms of the nuggets? I see they will both be sharing similar names and textures for most of the nuggets for both. Things could become quite confusing if not compatible with each other.
the sole reason there are other forms of metal than vanilla and thaumium in thaumcraft, is for cross mod compability. copper, silver, lead etc. dont directly serve a purpose in thaumcraft. and the transmutation recipes are not even enabled, when there are no mods installed, that make use of these metals.
both mods are accessing the forge dictionary. that means, while in some cases items of the same type might look different and sometimes not even stack, theyre compatible in the recipes.
for example, there are some mods, that add their own type of copper ingots. in my world, i have 2 different types of copper. in principle, they are seperate items and dont stack, and even look slightly different. but since they are both accessing the forge dictionary, they are equal for the purpose of recipes and can even be mixed together on the crafting table.
maybe some day, that will be fixed too, and there wont be different types of the same item in the first place. maybe forge could add a library of items, that are frequently used in a lot of mods, like copper and copper ore for example. and modders could just access the library. that way, every mod could use the same type of copper and they would stack across mods. instead of adding their own ore spawn, textures and ingots as separate items.
There is at minimum one more person than vazkii( @vazkii: yes i learned how to write your name :P) working on an add-on. It isn't realesed yet but i hope it will be done soon.
Sorry if this question is retarded, but ah, does this version of Thaumcraft work with 1.6? I'm guessing no, but I don't know for sure, and I don't REALLY want to wade through 568 pages of posts.

Before asking that question, ask yourself, does the 1.5.2 in the title have a deeper meaning? Is it a code for 1.6.2? No, It means 1.5.2
It's not as easy as you think. Since thaumcraft is closed source software you need to jump trough a lot of hoops in order to even get a proper workspace setup. And then from purely method signatures, you need to figure out what the important methods do and how to use them, which is, in fact, a royal PITA. Not to mention the otherworldly complex method I had to come up with to recompile it, which I'm not sharing because I don't want to be held responsible for people who manage to f it up.
In 1.6 workspace setup won't really be an issue, because you can just drop CodeChickenCore in there.
Does that happen to be the reason I cant find any other decent texture packs other than Sphanx (Spl?) for thaumcraft?
Wow whit all these changes it's like a new mod! so nice to see that you're working hard on this Azanor! btw am i the only one that thinks that the alchemist from the first torchlight id somehow similar to a thaumaturge? i mean that was magical engineering too right?
well, in principle azanor wouldnt have to delay the thaumcraft 3.1 release for such a feature. depending on what he has planned, it could always be added in another update.

the sole reason there are other forms of metal than vanilla and thaumium in thaumcraft, is for cross mod compability. copper, silver, lead etc. dont directly serve a purpose in thaumcraft. and the transmutation recipes are not even enabled, when there are no mods installed, that make use of these metals.
both mods are accessing the forge dictionary. that means, while in some cases items of the same type might look different and sometimes not even stack, theyre compatible in the recipes.
for example, there are some mods, that add their own type of copper ingots. in my world, i have 2 different types of copper. in principle, they are seperate items and dont stack, and even look slightly different. but since they are both accessing the forge dictionary, they are equal for the purpose of recipes and can even be mixed together on the crafting table.
maybe some day, that will be fixed too, and there wont be different types of the same item in the first place. maybe forge could add a library of items, that are frequently used in a lot of mods, like copper and copper ore for example. and modders could just access the library. that way, every mod could use the same type of copper and they would stack across mods. instead of adding their own ore spawn, textures and ingots as separate items.
And no i am not this person
There is to be a third Thaum enthusiast creating a 2 addon?
Before asking that question, ask yourself, does the 1.5.2 in the title have a deeper meaning? Is it a code for 1.6.2? No, It means 1.5.2
That is a kinda dickish response... *shrugs shoulders*... but, as it is (or should be) pretty obvious, Im not gonna complain about it.
Does that happen to be the reason I cant find any other decent texture packs other than Sphanx (Spl?) for thaumcraft?
No, Code is very different than textures, It's just as easy to make textures for thaumcraft as any other mod
