Loads world fine, then crashes with "false" in chat when trying to use /nbtedit. Tried various versions of forge none seemed to work.
they did say that they used an external tool, so you really shouldn't be surprised, i will likely talk with Jay sometime this week and we will see about some sort of beta 1.9 (since Forge itself isn't exactly stable yet)
Yeah, something isn't right with the unofficial 1.9 version, it's not supposed to crash at all and when I tried it I was pointing to a creeper and still the game crashed with the word false in chat and /nbtedit me crashes the game right away.

Yeah _Gunter_'s version crashes right away when using /nbtedit. I'm working on porting to 1.9 now. Just give me a few hours.
Yeah i was thinking of rewriting parts of the mod (Davidee says to in parts of the code). I guess i could take over if needed. I also want to add a few features. So. We'll see.
can you add the ability to lock NBT tags (prevent all mods and vanilla Minecraft features from changing them), preferably before the 1.8.9 release? (other than that and the fact that there isn't a 1.8.9 version this mod is perfect)

Unfortunately it is impossible to lock nbt tags and it might also cause forge or the a mod to become unstable if you did so. Also we have ports to 1.8.9 and even 1.9 already https://github.com/Jay113355/NBTEdit/releases
I guess preventing other mods from changing NBT tags they added would probably cause issues… most vanilla NBT tags might be safe to lock though (like anything in the abilities tag on players or items tag on blocks with inventories, and maybe stuff like health, hittime, and absorptionamount)
Do you plan to continue updating this to future minecraft versions when they are released? How hard is it to update for you?
Yes. Its fairly easy. However, i might rewrite it from scratch as the networking code is a bit outdated and rewriting would allow me to add more features easy.
Thanks indeed!
How does it work with craft on mac withou glass fil\
Ported to 1.8 please?
Well I needed NBTEdit as more faster for 1.9: I took source code of jay113355 of 1.8.9 version and updated that to 1.9 with Cubi.
So now NBT for 1.9 (Forge 12.16.0.1801+):

Because you need choose entity or any inventory (like chest) on gunpoint. Or for editing player use /nbtedit me

Tired of the same old maze maps? Me too! Click here for an endless maze, in which you try to survive and it's randomly generated so it's different every time!

Edit: Done with 1.9

Update to 1.9 pleaseNvm
Maybe new forge crahes, cause I used beta forge I think 5 or 7th version of 1.9.
I am glad someone has been porting it. We really need a new topic where someone officially takes up maintaining the mod.
I am the current maintainer of the Forge Essentials mod for Minecraft and long time gamer!

Good, it is a very useful mod for small nuances like changing owner of a block, etc.

You might have to update this Jay.
If you use the new version or latest version of 1.8.9, it crashed.
You must remove nbtedit to let the game uncrashable.
I guess you won't be updating that........

Works fine in the newest 1.8.9 for me. What are you testing it with?
