So... if we blackscreen at step 3, what's going on? Do we just not have the specs needed to do it? The order of installs I have is Modloader, Optifine, then GLSL. I tested before adding the shaders, using Magic Launcher to do this (so it's nothing stupid like forgetting to purge Meta-INF)...
Perhaps the texture pack? I'm using the LB Photo Realism 256x256 pack, which I had thought supported this...
Mine black screens with no crash report.

Im using Magic launcher because it didint work when i installed it manually.
Here are the mods installed.
I was experimenting with fog and related settings or so I thought, accidentally turned on anisotropic filtering and got waving grass instead. How the heck can this be relevant? Seems to be working with various shaders and texture packs. However when I quit minecraft anisotropic filtering is turned off.
Any ideas on why it works this way and how to make it persistent?
The mod version is mc1.5.2-ofud3-1.46.
I thought you said it wasn't compatible with Forge
Ok, now I'm confused
The 1.46 version IS compatible with Forge, I'm using it right now. It works perfectly, except for sometimes a fire glitch comes up when the fire steals the texture of the block I'm looking at and uses it. :|

It's not supposed to because Karyonix doesn't make shader files
The shader files (the ones ending in .fsh and .vsh) can go into one of four places
The shaders folder inside the minecraft.jar - only useful if you do a manual install, and will be enabled by clicking (internal)
The shaders folder inside the Karyonix ShadersMod zip - only useful if you use MagicLauncher and will be enabled by clicking (internal)
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\shaderpacks\SEUS\shaders - create the bolded folders and put the shader files in the shaders folder will be enabled by clicking the name of the folder before shaders eg. SEUS
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\shaderpacks\SEUS.zip\shaders - this is the same as before but using a zip file instead of a folder will be enabled by clicking the name of the zip containing the shaders folder
So basically once you've done one of those methods click anything but (none) in Options - Shaders
What I did is. First select the .zip file using Magic Launcher and didn't work.
Second I extracted the .zip file and look inside the "shaders" folder and it contains nothing.
I have no idea if you're using it or not but the 1.46 version for 1.5.2 isn't Forge compatible.
I am using Forge, but apparently the version is too old. I'm using 689 because upgrading any higher causes mod incompatibilities. (Usually chickenbones' mods, I have no idea why) so I guess I'll just have to do without or reinstall the newest version of every mod and try that at some point in the future.
Edit: Out of curiosity I made a new multiMC instance with nothing but forge 707 in it and the shader mod, and got this error at launch:

Using the newest optifine (D3) as well.
Edit: I think my optifine install was corrupt, I redownloaded it and the mod works on my test map - now if only I could get everything working on my server instance...
Is it me? Or the "shaders" folder on ShadersMod-mc1.5.2-ofud3-1.46.zip not containing any files?
Perhaps the texture pack? I'm using the LB Photo Realism 256x256 pack, which I had thought supported this...

The mod version is mc1.5.2-ofud3-1.46.
...and minecraft will never be the same.
By the way, I use multiMC, not magiclauncher.
The link went to that one
And there isn't a D2 ULTRA there is only a D3 ULTRA.
Edit: still doesn't work same black screen
oh...I thought older versions meant 1.5.1 :\
ok thanks
Any ideas?
Also I am using D3, before I was using D2 and the preview of the 1.5.2 shaders and it worked fine.
and ExtrabiomesXL 3.13.1.

It's because only visible pixels in screen-space can be reflected (way faster than rendering the world again).
