I hope someone can help me, because my problem is still not solved.
I go into vacations tomorrow, so I think I will not be able to catch up the reading, that's why I ask once again.
My problem is:
First: I don't really know what version of SEUS I need.
Second: If I try SEUS v10.0 (all except the lite), my Minecraft almost freezes (after loading a world) and I have no render at all.
My configuration is:
3 GB of RAM
intel core i5
Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 (latest drivers)
Is this video card good enough to support SEUS, or do I have to abandon this idea and try another shader/don't do anything?
(Knowing that I can get around 120 fps without any graphic mod (Optifine or GSLS), but with mods like IC2, BC...).

I've tried Sildurs vibrant shaders and they crash my drivers basic works well and light somewhat works
Someone else was having issues with ATI drivers crashing, the fix was to upgrade to 14.3 Beta 1.0. You will have a hard time running most shaders on your 4850 though, it's pretty old... Try Sildur's Light, or Sildur's Vibrant Intel. Even SEUS Lite.
Hey, i hope someone can help me. I have a really annoying problem with the shaders, everytime when i play minecraft with shaders my game freezes after 3-5 minutes, the reason for that is one of the svchost.exe and it cause 18-22 cpu utilization...
I tried several things to fix that problem, but nothing worked.
I'm frustrated and dont know what to do now
My specs are: Windows 7 x32

AMD Athlon II x3 460 (3.40 GHz)

Oops, i had optifine. But apparently removing that caused 2.3.15 to run at 30 FPS(instead of 15-ish), and 2.2.2 to run at 15-ish(instead of 30). Either way a Radeon R9 290X should get 60 (or at least 45) FPS while using max settings and and one on the most demanding shaderpacks(its better than a GTX 780, and a GTX 780 can do it).
Optifine has been messy, it usually boosts FPS, but it may not be configured in one of those instances properly.
The 1.7.4 is OK, but the 1.7.5 is still a preview.
Unfortunately, regardless, your AMD R9 290x isn't going to get frames like that. Maybe if you disable VSYNC and set it to max fps, in certain circumstances. GLSL Shaders is being coded to be more AMD friendly, but, it has been an nVidia design since the beginning. It is just much more optimized for nVidia, and AMD/Intel are much more strict cards when it comes down to OpenGL instructions and executing them.
Well , I did everything correct but when I choose- wait does Toomanyitems and optifine work with it?It takes me back to the launcher or everything is black. WHY DOES IT DO DIS!?!?!? help meh plz
Hello - I need help. I'm trying to install shaders for 1.7.2 but every time the shaderpack is selected minecraft crashes. I have forge for 1.7.2 and GLSL for 1.7.2 installed. This happens on every shaderpack I try so I think the problem is with GLSL. I have no other mods installed as I started with a clean minecraft file. The error report that I get is below. I also tried with Optifine 1.7.4 and GLSL 1.7.4 and had the same problem.

Hello, I've been trying to tweak a shader pack (SEUS v10) for the past few days to get just right for me. I figured out how to do most of it, but I'm completely stuck on a couple of things and no matter how much I try, tweaking every line of code possible it just won't work.
So could some please help me out with where, how and what I need to adjust to get these to work.
#1 - The rain! The rain is extremely bright and the particles are huge in the distance, so much so that it looks more like a meteor shower rather than rain. It's 100 times worse at night, the rain in the distance is completely out of proportion. The picture doesn't really do it justice.
#2 - Reflection on water. I managed to change the water color as I wanted it to be a little more blue, and I increased the wave/ripple effect, but the reflections I can't seem to change. At the moment waterfalls look like they are chrome plated or mirrors because of the amount of reflection. How could I lower this a little?
It's hardly depending on the Settings. As JonnyBrando wrote, you can easily configure your game to get unplayable fps with Optifine. The Ultra Version is quite powerful, but just putting everything to max will increase the required computing power hardly (I think he means "hardly" as in "very much more (harder)" aka tremendously :P). In addition to the NVidia favored programming.
And finally, you should'nt forget the Shader-Settings. Increasing the Render-Resolution to 2x causes your graphicscard to compute 4x more Pixels thus causing massive frame drops. 1.41 is pretty much the maximum my Titan (@1,15Ghz) can bring to the screen with 20 blocks view range. Everything more starts to hurt my eyes. Im currently planning to get a second Card to play Minecraft... wich sounds kind of strange...
A note to point out: a second video card -- especially if you are getting an other TITAN (which is ridiculously stupid! talk about super overkill, and a waste of money! unless of course you are getting a used refurb or something?). Minecraft / JAVA do not support SLI, so they will not use the 2nd card. It does not even support a DUAL-GPU card, even though both GPUS are on the same card, they are still linked through SLI, and as such one GPU isn't used (like the 590 & 690 for example).
I average 40-60 FPS on my 780ti at 1080p, max everything in Optifine (except AA), normal & specular maps on, RenderResMulti at 2.00 (max), ShadowResMulti at 1.00 (default), 32x texture pack with bump mapping support, and SEUS 10.1 Preview 1 & 2 (custom modified with proper 3D Clouds and other fixes).
If I setup the above on my AMD 6950, it dies a slow death, and the FPS goes down under 10 FPS! lol! I can bump the RenderResMulti to just over 1.0, kick the MipMapping and Anisotropic Filtering down a bit, and I can keep it between 20-30 FPS with the same setup. It's playable :).
Point is, all of this nVidia talk, and GLSL/Optifine are coded to be nVidia friendly. You'll just have to be patient.

In 1.7.2 / 1.7.4 / 1.7.5 GLSL Shaders, Optifine, and TooManyItems all work just fine.
Get Optifine running first, then install GLSL Shaders and test, then install TooManyItems and test. In 1.7.2 they are all Forge mods, super simple. In 1.7.4/1.7.5 use the installers for Optifine and GLSL Shaders. Then, make a backup of your Versions\1.7.4-Shaders\1.7.4-Shaders.jar and drop TooManyItems into it and then delete META-INF (this is super important!).
If you are using the installers, your JSON file should be perfect, again test in between each one to see which is causing your PC to crash.
If you are running an Intel HD Graphics video adapter in your computer, make sure your Forge is 1040-1047 or 1059, and your video driver ends in 32XX or 33XX. AMD/nVidia are fine for any version except AMD 14.0 BETA.

Make sure you are running Forge 1040-1047 or 1059. It looks like you are running 1060, but just make sure. I haven't tested 1060 on Intel-based systems yet, but 1048-1057 all had issues like you are describing.
Also, make sure that the video driver that you have installed in your machine ends with 32XX or 33XX. The latest Intel drivers end in 34XX and cause crashing and errors.

You might check out composite.vsh and composite1.vsh. Scroll down to line 141 (v10.1P2) / 111 (v10.0) in composite.vsh, and 141 (v10.1P2) / 95 (v10.0) in composite1.vsh.
There you can edit the midnight_amb color and brightness.
He completely changed the way a floating variable 'timeMidnight' works, you might just be able to replace the files, but who knows.

Someone else was having issues with ATI drivers crashing, the fix was to upgrade to 14.3 Beta 1.0. You will have a hard time running most shaders on your 4850 though, it's pretty old... Try Sildur's Light, or Sildur's Vibrant Intel. Even SEUS Lite.
I actually don't have a hard time running shaders, I don't really want to use SEUS because it makes my GPU temperature extremely hot and Chocapic's and Sildur's old shaders kept it at a good temperature. I've tried Sildur's Vibrant Intel and they crash my drivers as well. Sildur's light is buggy for some reason they don't crash.

Not sure what else it will affect in the FSH file, there is a small handful of calculations that uses that variable. All of these other calculations are identical between the 2 versions though (almost), but a couple are disabled.
Back everything up, and you can't really go wrong messing around ;).

How to use
1. Make a copy of OptiFine_.jar file and rename to "[0000]_OptiFine_.jar" (or other meaningful name) .
2. Open optifinefml.7z and [0000]_OptiFine_.jar in archive program (7-Zip or WinRAR or WinZip).
3. Copy files and folders inside optifinefml.7z to [0000]_OptiFine_.jar .
4. Close archive program.
5. Copy [0000]_OptiFine_.jar to mods folder.
6. Make sure the original OptiFine_.jar is not also in mods folder.

First: I don't really know what version of SEUS I need.
Second: If I try SEUS v10.0 (all except the lite), my Minecraft almost freezes (after loading a world) and I have no render at all.

Is this video card good enough to support SEUS, or do I have to abandon this idea and try another shader/don't do anything?

He won't be able to run 64-bit Java seeing as he only has 32-bit Windows installed..
If you are allocating all 4GB of your RAM to Minecraft, you aren't leaving anything left over for Windows, or the GLSL Shader memory stack.
If you are allocating the default 1GB of RAM to Minecraft, you may not have enough for mod textures, and any mod packs you have installed.
Optifine has been messy, it usually boosts FPS, but it may not be configured in one of those instances properly.
The 1.7.4 is OK, but the 1.7.5 is still a preview.
Unfortunately, regardless, your AMD R9 290x isn't going to get frames like that. Maybe if you disable VSYNC and set it to max fps, in certain circumstances. GLSL Shaders is being coded to be more AMD friendly, but, it has been an nVidia design since the beginning. It is just much more optimized for nVidia, and AMD/Intel are much more strict cards when it comes down to OpenGL instructions and executing them.

So could some please help me out with where, how and what I need to adjust to get these to work.
#1 - The rain! The rain is extremely bright and the particles are huge in the distance, so much so that it looks more like a meteor shower rather than rain. It's 100 times worse at night, the rain in the distance is completely out of proportion. The picture doesn't really do it justice.
#2 - Reflection on water. I managed to change the water color as I wanted it to be a little more blue, and I increased the wave/ripple effect, but the reflections I can't seem to change. At the moment waterfalls look like they are chrome plated or mirrors because of the amount of reflection. How could I lower this a little?

A note to point out: a second video card -- especially if you are getting an other TITAN (which is ridiculously stupid! talk about super overkill, and a waste of money! unless of course you are getting a used refurb or something?). Minecraft / JAVA do not support SLI, so they will not use the 2nd card. It does not even support a DUAL-GPU card, even though both GPUS are on the same card, they are still linked through SLI, and as such one GPU isn't used (like the 590 & 690 for example).
I average 40-60 FPS on my 780ti at 1080p, max everything in Optifine (except AA), normal & specular maps on, RenderResMulti at 2.00 (max), ShadowResMulti at 1.00 (default), 32x texture pack with bump mapping support, and SEUS 10.1 Preview 1 & 2 (custom modified with proper 3D Clouds and other fixes).
If I setup the above on my AMD 6950, it dies a slow death, and the FPS goes down under 10 FPS! lol! I can bump the RenderResMulti to just over 1.0, kick the MipMapping and Anisotropic Filtering down a bit, and I can keep it between 20-30 FPS with the same setup. It's playable :).
Point is, all of this nVidia talk, and GLSL/Optifine are coded to be nVidia friendly. You'll just have to be patient.
In 1.7.2 / 1.7.4 / 1.7.5 GLSL Shaders, Optifine, and TooManyItems all work just fine.
Get Optifine running first, then install GLSL Shaders and test, then install TooManyItems and test. In 1.7.2 they are all Forge mods, super simple. In 1.7.4/1.7.5 use the installers for Optifine and GLSL Shaders. Then, make a backup of your Versions\1.7.4-Shaders\1.7.4-Shaders.jar and drop TooManyItems into it and then delete META-INF (this is super important!).
If you are using the installers, your JSON file should be perfect, again test in between each one to see which is causing your PC to crash.
If you are running an Intel HD Graphics video adapter in your computer, make sure your Forge is 1040-1047 or 1059, and your video driver ends in 32XX or 33XX. AMD/nVidia are fine for any version except AMD 14.0 BETA.
Make sure you are running Forge 1040-1047 or 1059. It looks like you are running 1060, but just make sure. I haven't tested 1060 on Intel-based systems yet, but 1048-1057 all had issues like you are describing.
Also, make sure that the video driver that you have installed in your machine ends with 32XX or 33XX. The latest Intel drivers end in 34XX and cause crashing and errors.
EDIT: I just tested Forge 1060 and 1061 on my Surface Pro 1 (Intel HD 4000 with driver version 3368) and it is fine. I would check your video driver, and roll it back to 3345 here: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/intel_hd_graphics_driver_download.html
I know this thread isn't just for SEUS shader pack, but I thought I would ask here as well because I'm completely lost with how to fix this.
I'm simply trying to make the night with "v10.1 Preview 2" look desaturated (Very grey and washed out) like it does with "v10.0".
Pretty sure it's something to do with these lines of code, but what exactly I don't know:

v10.0 at night everything looks very grey "Desaturated" so it actually looks like moonlight. PERFECT!
v10.1 pre 2 everything looks normal, full vibrant color like sunlight. Not good!

You might check out composite.vsh and composite1.vsh. Scroll down to line 141 (v10.1P2) / 111 (v10.0) in composite.vsh, and 141 (v10.1P2) / 95 (v10.0) in composite1.vsh.
There you can edit the midnight_amb color and brightness.
He completely changed the way a floating variable 'timeMidnight' works, you might just be able to replace the files, but who knows.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I had already tried that, I did it again though to double check and as I thought it only changes the color of the ambient light I think.
I'm 99.9999% sure it's the "DoLowlightEye" and "DoNightEye" settings that affect it. It even says next to them: "Desaturates any color input at night, simulating the rods in the human eye". But even when I copy and paste those lines from v10.0 into v10.1P2, it still doesn't work.
I've also tried coping and pasting all 6 of the composite files, both .fsh and .vsh one by one until it made the change so at least I knew what files had that effect, and it is definitely "composite.fsh" and "composite.vsh", none of the other composite files made any difference.
I've hit a brick wall with this now, just can't figure it out

I actually don't have a hard time running shaders, I don't really want to use SEUS because it makes my GPU temperature extremely hot and Chocapic's and Sildur's old shaders kept it at a good temperature. I've tried Sildur's Vibrant Intel and they crash my drivers as well. Sildur's light is buggy for some reason they don't crash.
It looks like you can change DoNightEye from timeMidnight to timeSkyDark (like it was in SEUS v10.0) in the FSH, but in the VSH that variable gets calculated and then set to 0.0f -- I think you can remove this line (#78).
Not sure what else it will affect in the FSH file, there is a small handful of calculations that uses that variable. All of these other calculations are identical between the 2 versions though (almost), but a couple are disabled.
Back everything up, and you can't really go wrong messing around ;).
