I never said that. I said it was my right to expect it. Expectations get put on people that do public projects and when they claim to make a sequel to something more expectations gets put on it. All I said was that the reason why people are acting upset is because they really like EE2 and therefore it doesn't make sense to say that "nobody liked EE2" or "EE2 was too overpowered".
Some of the people I see posting here are not giving any kind of criticism, they're just praising something that isn't good now and isn't done yet and therefore might not be good in the future.
If they have real life situations to take care of then I understand that. But guess what? If they stop giving the fans what the fans want the fans are GOING to complain. The fact that you people don't seem to understand that is just... confusing.
1. It's your right to expect stuff, doesn't mean people will like you when you whine when you don't get it right away.
2. Lots of people, including me, loved EE2, but it was OP, the author of EE2 thinks so himself, so Pahimar is making EE3
3. They're excited for the work Pahimar is putting into EE3, and are, as you say, "praising him" so he doesn't absolutely hate EVERYONE THAT FREAKING COMPLAINS OVER AN UNFINISHED PRODUCT!
4. This is the part that confuses me, he hasn't stopped giving the fans what they want, he's just making sure that what the fans get is a well-coded, polished, excellent mod, and Pahimar is still working on it. I'm confused why you don't seem to understand this.
adkit2: For the most part, you are correct, however the number of people that liked EE2 in no way makes it less OP. It was OP in and of itself due to the collectors and condensers, which allowed one to create infinite everything out of nothing, plus that ring that let you fly creative mode style without any power required.
Yes it is understandable that people will have expectations, the problem arises when they demand in an arrogate tirade that this be done, that be done, or that EE2 be updated when both X3no and Pahimar have stated quite clearly that it will not be. The expectations are not the problem, its the behavior based on those expectations.
Pahimar is doing a ground up rewrite in which he is tweaking not only some items, but making an entirely new mechanic that will act as the very base of the mod: Dynamic EMC. Of course it is going to take time to complete such an undertaking, not to mention when you also have a slew of responsibilities that come first.

I'm honestly not complaining about the modmaker or the mod as much as I want to anymore, what irks me now is how people are putting him on a pedistal and acting like this is already a golden mod. It shouldn't be called EE3. It should've been an independent mod. It would've removed a lot of the confusion.
Anyway, the whole "it was overpowered" argument is just plain wrong. Server owners who thought it gave the users too much power could just turn the mod off... as for people like me who just liked playing with friends and simply DIDN'T make infinite out of anything, I just used the mod to help me get lots of materials from my unneeded materials and the flying to help me build. It was fun. I liked it. It's only "OP" if you use it that way.
As for it taking a long time so that it can be "polished"... mark my words: in a years time the mod still won't be released and this forum will STILL have people claiming it's the best thing since sliced bread.
Suuuure man, we'll all remember in three years how some random guy said that pahimar was an idiot. Like there's not enough people saying that EXACT SAME THING already.
Ive done coding myself, trust me, trying to find the source of and correct bugs can take quite a bit of effort, sometimes requiring you to rewrite much of your code. And as i said, its not like he can devote quite a lot of time to the mod at this time, besides a full time job, he is currently taking part in a competition outside of MC, AND is preparing for a wedding that will be taking place in a couple months. With all that he has on his plate at the moment, i really think people need to calm down. If he were just a student without a job that has a bunch of free time, sure then a lot of the complaining could be justified. However, at this time under the current circumstances I do not believe any of it is justified

ah, I love it when MCF decides to delete my quoted posts. Well then <.<
@adkit2: Yes, it is your right to expect a sequel, and pahimar has decided to deliver. HOWEVER, he can work as slowly as he wants to. You can argue for hours over whether or not EE2 was overpowered. However, pahimar and xenophobe thought it was OP, so arguments aren't necessary. Yes, Eloraam should have tried to update Redpower, but she didn't feel like it (which is disappointing). About EE3 still being WIP in a year, Redpower also has the "pre-" tag in it, and people are saying that it's a wonderful mod. Which is also why I think so many people see the pre- tag and disregard it now.

You don't know you have one when you're standing in the middle of it, but everyone else sees it. So of course your attitude is everyone else's problem. It's everyone else's perception, not yours. All the people who come here with constructive, or at least CIVIL things to say to Pahimar are sycophants, but you're the shining ray of hope, the booming voice of reason in this miring cloud of uncertainty.
you know, it's funny, I remember a conversation very similar to this happening during the development of EE2, except instead of "Y U REMOEV ENARGY CONDESORZ, EE3 IZ GONA B TEH SUCKS" it was "Y U REMOEV AGROLATOARS, EE2 IZ GONA B TEH SUCKS"
and then everyone was like "holy crap, these energy condensers are way better than the aggregators, thanks X3n0!"
could it be that no matter what, people will complain about change, only for them to realize that the new product is far superior to the old one and that the mod makers generally have a better view of what the mod will turn out like and we should trust their judgement?
seriously, this happens EVERY FREAKING TIME a mod gets a revamp, people seriously need to learn to trust the modders.
(I find it funny as well that one of the main complaints with EE2 was the removal of PStone recipes and adding EMC instead, and now the main complaint is that there is no EMC and there are PStone recipes instead, it's amazing proof that no matter what you do, people will complain)

To anyone who says EE2 was not, at least a little bit, overpowered in nature, I tell you this: Any mod that lets me get enough diamonds to encase my nether portal, defeat the Ender Dragon without dying, OR generate a stack of coal with no cost other than 60 seconds of time, in less than a RL week of gameplay, is overpowered in my opinion. Let alone a mod that does all three. And then some.
And now that there are so many more mods than there were back in the days of Minecraft 1.0, I can live without that easiness even more so. Need more diamonds but don't want to explore a 10-minute walk from your base for a low cave system or strip-mine? You've got MystCraft. Need higher-tier fancy tools? We've got Tinker's Construct. Need carriable bags for your items? We've got EnderStorage. Need a bigger chest to store stuff in? We've got IronChests. Want magicky stuff? There's ThaumCraft 3 and Ars Magica, plus x3n0's Reliquary. Need a lot of machines to dawdle over? Pick your poison -- Forestry, GregTech, Applied Energistics, Thermal Expansion, MineFactory Reloaded 2, Universal Electricity...
None of these mods existed, at least in anything close to resembling their current form, when EE2 got started, and then not much changed in EE2 for a long while. MystCraft was a jar mod that was incompatible with Forge, and only let you access random dimensions; MineFactory Reloaded was being run by three different people, none of whom had really added much to the mod that none of them created, and was also really OP; ThaumCraft 1 was outright dull; Tinker's Construct was InfiTools, which was kind of OP too; Forestry just let you harvest trees automatically, and you had to have BuildCraft; and IronChests was an IC2 dependency.
Now, I will say that I am disappointed in the amount of time that EE3 is taking, as much as anyone else, but Pahimar isn't a lifeless teenager like some of us are (this is not an insult to anyone because I put myself firmly in that group) and can't constantly work on it. Plus, he's certainly not going to whip up quick, cheap, half-working code. He's going to do it right. And doing the code right takes a LOT of time.

I think a perception check is in order.
Yeah, I've been that guy... I do try to resolve misunderstandings, or, at least, provide checkable evidence to what I'm saying-which is often difficult as I often completely forget where something is coming from (I'm a little surprised I don't hear voices in my head sometimes... grumble).
Two final things: EE2, as it was officially, developed by Pahmar or x3n0ph0b3, is dead... however, if someone else wanted to write the mod from scratch using the same ideas... what are they going to do, sue you? 'tis entirely possible to have two versions of the same concept by different people, and, hell, he's even giving us the code of (this one) to work with. (please note, decompiling the original EE2 and using THAT code can get you in trouble, but reverse engineering is/was-at one point-legal, so...)
Finally, may I make a suggestion. Ignore flame wars like this. If someone says something outrageous that you don't like and infuriates you, simply ignore them. If you must, write up a response, but sleep before submitting it (writing it will make you feel better, sleeping will make you feel better, rereading it might make you decide to not post it... if not... have at it!) However, adding fuel to flames is just silly-believe me, I should know... so why not just let it drop here and simply ignore it?
P.S. I did write up a response, but as I was also responding to an error report (which has been reported already, by the way), it was too long-and I only JUST noticed, so, yeah, I scrapped it.

You can defeat the ender dragon without dying in vanilla...
No, its being replaced by blue matter. Red matter has been removed, dark matter is being revamped. See OP

Still don't have any positive votes left.
