Sorry if this is a repost from someone else, but I've been in my world for quite a while now and restarting would really suck. I entered the nether and... the fps drop... is. so. bad. Is there any way to fix this without resetting the whole world folder? I've tried disabling all the nether biomes in the config and then deleted the DIM-1 folder but I still see BOP stuff and the fps drop is still there.. Any ideas?
I wouldn't say that. 1.9 is probably a long ways off, so there's plenty of time for BoP to be 1.8-stable. If 1.8 isn't working for folks - like with me - then 1.7.10 and earlier is always an option. They're still quite stable and there's plenty of great mods available for those versions

I'm encountering an "Unknown recipe class" error on my server. The message appears when I'm creating a new world as well as when I start the server with an existing world. Is this something I might be able to fix myself even though I don't really have any Java coding experience?
For those of you who are interested I've managed to "fix" the issues related to the 128+ sub-biome vanilla bug. What I ended up doing is changing the IDs for some of BoP's biomes in such a way that biomes which are very similar are entered in pairs, ID and ID+128 respectively. So, for instance, the ID of my Woodland biome is 93. I changed the ID of the Grove biome to 221, it's +128 equivalent. What this means is that every time a Woodland biome is generated there's a chance of generating a Grove biome in or adjacent to it. Since they're similar biomes it's hardly noticeable. And the Grove biome can still spawn naturally on it's own.
I freed up 21 biome IDs by pairing them off in this way and now I can have Erebus and Twilight Forest installed with BoP, without disabling any BoP biomes, and not have any non-overworld biomes spawning in the overworld.
I hate cutting down trees I cant plant! My favourite tree in minecraft is spruce and in some of the biomes in BoP the spruce trees are taller than normal which I really like, but I wish I could grow the tall spruce trees.

oh wow what a derp...I just reread your initial post and finally saw that you did in fact mention it was an already created world xD
Can you help me with that, as I'd love to be able to install twilight forest but gave up once I noticed them spawning in the overworld. If maybe you'd like to send me a pm with a config list of what you changed, that would be great!
