This doesn't make sense "I'm going to take this chunk of meat and put it in my oven so it will turn into cow skin!" Well made at least
More like, "I'm going to treat this rotten flesh to get usable leather out of it". The intermediate stage being edible flesh is what doesn't make sense -- it should be closer to unsmelted rawhide than flesh.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

Exactly, considering you can make leather out of pretty much any type of skin (ewwww..) so Zombie flesh might conceivably still have some skin attached, baking it in an oven to remove the flesh part and leave the skin is pretty much accurate. Though to make actual leather you need various chemical vats to soak it in and other treatment processes, but let's not get too technical here.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
minecraft crashes when i start it(and it happens only when i have rotten flesh to leather hardcore version installd the normal one doesn't crash.)
-snip-
The non-hardcore version labelled 1.5.x worked on 1.6.4 in single player. Flesh becomes leather in furnace. Then I added string and made a backpack. I have not tried SMP yet.

Hello! I am planning on making a modpack, and i was wondering if i could use your mod. It will be completely private. It would mean alot to me if i could, and thank you for making a great mod!

Hi EpicBlargh! I noticed when I tried to download this, it wasn't in dropbox. Can you send me a link if there is a new download website or please just repost it on dropbox. Thanks!

Make the hardcore mode recipe configurable with different item IDs. Then I could assign items (like salt) from other mods to use in the processing of leather.
Make a 'wet cured leather' item that could be used in the Tinker's Construct drying racks.
Hello! I've made a modpack with one (or more) of your mods. It's called Hekkit and its goal is to combine machinery with adventuring. The topic can be found here.

If you read the OP, it will tell you how to use it in a modpack.

It's explicitly for 1.6.2, that's why you crash whilst using it for Minecraft 1.6.4.
