Dude, seriously. Are you busy with life or other mods? We'd REALLY love it if you could just update it! I know 1.7 added a ton of biomes, but we're already at 1.8. Please, man.....Just update it.
First off, sorry for going dark. I got really overwhelmed, so worked in silence. Not the greatest thing to do, but it's what I did anyways.
At this point, The Seasons Mod will be ready for beta testing in Minecraft 1.7 within the month; Minecraft 1.8 shouldn't be hard to get to afterwords, as most of my time has been spent writing a new, near version-less loader. There's been a lot of changes since the last release, many of which couldn't be done with the previous loader, and I can't wait to finally finish and test them.
One of the things left to do for a release, though, is new textures for the flowers. If a texture maker would be willing to make and let me use seasonal versions of each of the Minecraft flowers, I would be thankful and that much closer to releasing.
I'm hoping someone could make (and let me use) icons for each of the flowers for each of the seasons.
The flowers are:
dandelion
poppy
blueOrchid
allium
houstonia
tulipRed
tulipOrange
tulipWhite
tulipPink
oxeyeDaisy

Hey, WeatherPony. Just wanted to let you know I AMworking the textures for you! I just completed the winter textures, and am now beginning to work on the others. I can send them to you if you'd like to see them so far. PM me ; )
Texture Request Progress Update:
Three people have asked about or said they are making new flower textures so far (1 from this thread, 2 from PMs). Just wanted to say that it's not a first-come-first served. I'll use the best textures I have when I've finished fixing things and release a beta, which will take at least a week, but more likely two (possibly three). If the best textures come from different texture makers, so be it, in which case I'll be thanking multiple people. (If you're making flower textures and you want all of your textures to be used, just make them all the best ^^)
Edit: For those waiting for a release, I'll most likely do a beta for both 1.7.2 and 1.7.10 at the same time.

I love this mod, ever since seasons came out. I cannot wait till 1.7.10, best Christmas present ever! As for the tornado compatible just shut it off for the winter months xD, with a time edit mod winter takes a loooonnnggg time.
B3M's time mod
(Seasons 1.7.10)
Equal's great fun lining them up.
It's the plan I have right now. I am on day 270+ in September and I plan to line up the days and months with the Seasons Mod
Overall, The Seasons Mod's update is going well, and essentially all issues I've been getting (from the mod) are with the new features I've been working on. However, I'm further from a Beta than I expected I'd be -- Most of the problems that I'm getting (in general) are in the new loader (like I expected, but I'm finding more issues than I was originally anticipating).
I'm not wanting to make you guys wait for too much longer than I have already, so I'll post an Alpha version of the mod and loader this weekend here in the comments (rather than in the opening post). The mod is missing some of the features you've come to love, but this is mostly because of the issues in the loader that I'm still working out. The features will be re-added/updated/included as/because the loader gets fixed. While I'm calling it an "Alpha," it's still quite stable - there's just some edits [partially] missing, lots of new default settings I want to write, and new features I want to complete before calling it a Beta and releasing it for general use. Even though it's stable, please remember that it's incomplete, and may develop problems - problems that will most likely be fixed as the loader gets fixed.
As it always has, The Seasons Mod's Alpha build that I'll release later will have an almost non-existent footprint. The new loader isn't yet fully optimized, so it will take more time to load the game than I'd like. After the game's loaded (not just to the main menu, but in-game as well), you'll enjoy things just like normal. You can use it with other mods if you'd like, but please remember that it's not a full release. Also, the more mods you use, the longer the game will take to load (based on how much code is being loaded, not the number of mods).
(I have a 4th-gen i7, and I find it takes a couple more seconds to load when I'm just using my new loader - a bit less than roughly doubling the load time. I'll be optimizing it later, after I get it all to work right.)
From this coming version on, if you want to change The Seasons Mod's worldly settings, NBTEdit will *not* work. I suggest using NBTExplorer instead. NBTExplorer won't look for the settings files on it's own, but you can easily tell it to load one up.
Edit: made the fact I'll be posting an Alpha this weekend bolded, so it stands out. I don't want everyone to stop reading after that first bit and not see it

Just wanted to be clear to those of you working on textures: you're not too late to finish making textures -- the code isn't quite ready for the textures I've requested. I'll be fixing the problems that are stopping the re-texture code from working in the coming week. I realized I wasn't clear about this when I said I'd be posting an Alpha version.

I've been spending the last few hours preparing an Alpha build, but my loader is having a problem that I never thought it would have had. The Seasons Mod loads, but absolutely none of my edits are being applied to the game. I've already downloaded and installed some software that should help me debug in an obfuscated Minecraft environment, and will focusing on crushing this really bad issue. I don't know where in the over 4600 lines of code the problem is coming from, so I'll be slowly hammering it out until it's fixed. I'm sorry, but due to this problem that I hadn't known about before, The Seasons Mod's alpha release will be delayed a bit longer - I could distribute it as it is right now, but you wouldn't see it do anything. If I end up taking too long to fix this problem, I'll package it up and distribute it for a development environment; that way you all could at least see it working there.

At this point, two other modders are willing to help me and have my code. The first modder has The Seasons Mod's code so he can try to help add new content/features. He's made a couple of mods before, but I don't know how he'll be when working with my stuff. The second modder has my loader's code so he can try to help me squash the bug that's stopping a release (the loader only works in a source code development environment). I don't know much about him, but a common acquaintance spoke highly of him. Hopefully we can get things working properly for a release soon. If not, most of The Seasons Mod's source code will be released so you can still have some fun with the mod as we work. (The code that I won't release is the code for the achievements and hidden items. I don't think it would be any fun to try and obtain any of them, if you could just look them up...)
If you know Java programming, and would like to help me fix the bugs that are in the mod's new loader, please let me know. The loader's going to be open-source soon, once more of these bugs are fixed, so I'm fine with more people looking it over a bit early. (The loader is Java, not a mod -- knowing how to make a mod doesn't necessarily mean knowing Java. )

The bug that was stopping me from releasing an alpha edition of the mod is still plaguing me...
However, thanks to Shuetox's help with the loader, I now know more about the problem - including how to bypass it until it gets fixed. The bug's still there, but I can at least release an alpha, albeit not quite as stable as if the bug was fixed outright.
PML-4.13 (short for Partial Modification Loader. This supports Minecraft 1.7+)
Minecraft 1.7.2 edition: https://www.dropbox.com/s/01c5tb8xxhuefrw/1.7.2-TheSeasonsMod-pre-3.0alpha.pmlm?dl=0 (not sure why it's not liking my url tag for this)
I ended up getting some issues when I was testing the 1.7.10 edition, which I didn't think would happen. I'll work them out, then post it here. I'm not sure if I'll keep going with both versions for future releases or just one of them, though I still have a bit of time to decide.
*This mod requires both PML (available a few lines up) and Forge (available here)*
To install this alpha edition, install Forge and put both PML (as a .jar) and The Seasons Mod (as a .pmlm) into your Minecraft's mods folder.
There's a fair bit of content that's not connected fully/right, which will be fixed later. If you find something missing, could you please wait for the beta edition before telling me? The beta edition will fix/add more of the content.
On a side note, The Seasons Mod and PML aren't coded like most other mods - they're coded more as hard Java (especially PML). They're harder to work with, but it's worth it for what they can be made to do. Just wanted to put that out there. For this alpha release, The Seasons Mod (for 1.7.2) and PML contain a combined total of 15 880 lines of code - almost 16 thousand lines. My downloads are considerably smaller than other mods with similar line counts simply because I don't include very many pictures.
If you were making textures of the different flowers for the different seasons (or would like to start and have a chance to have your work be a part of the mod, with credit), could you please send me your icons soon? I'll be picking the best ones (from what I've received) when I'm ready to release a beta edition of the mod. I don't need them all at once, as long as I have them to pick from when I release a beta edition.
