I believe that is a question which every modder despises.
In this case SIlentine has been studying for something big (forgot what it was) and he should finish some time early next month. (Thats just a guess from me). He will most likely start work on the update then.
I don't seem able to download this mod, all I get is a message telling me that the site is re-directing me in a way that won't complete. Whats going on?

Fantastic mod!!! I was looking for one for ages!!
but only one issue: most of the mobs are females which well.............. i don't know how to say it but can there be an option to make some them male or have them spawn 50%males and 50%females
some people aren't comfortable with hitting a girl or having them all around you
The fact that they are female is a good point for me, as I have a few other mods that add more than enough male mobs. This mod is (and still is) great for the female mobs XD
I'm just waiting patiently for a 1.7.10 version, as it's one of the 3 mods I'm waiting for so I can say my custom pack is complete...
The easiest way to edit this would be to use a custom spawning mod. Just Another Spawner might work for you, but I'm not familiar with any other spawn editing mods for comparsion.
1.7.2-1.7.10 may be the next update once he gets done with his real life situations

Usually using Steam/Discord nowadays, mostly actively searching around on curseforge for new mods.
Games on steam are usually Spiral Knights, TF2, SFM, and Paladins nowadays
I occasionally hop on minecraft to see what's new.
hmmm im guessing that the next time you update this is either in version 1.7.10 or 1.8 when mcp comes out

Right but we heard that a while ago and by that rumor he supposedly would have been done by the end of September it is now November and he hasn't even come on to say that he at least plans to work on it later on or when he plans to update at all. I'm sure people get that he has real life stuff but i think the majority of the reason they're asking is because this is a great mod and at least 90% of the minecraft mods out there have updated to 1.7.2 and 1.7.10 and now they're stuck waiting on this mod and no one has gotten a single response from the mod owner to at least get an idea of how long they have to wait.

I wish for the owners permission, but a tip since Microsoft now Owns minecraft, the "MODS" no longer belong to you or anyone else. This is because you now have to visit microsoft's EULA that applies to all games/systems http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/legal/intellectualproperty/useterms/
You a heads up, no one likes or approves hostile take-overs... So continuing someone elses mod in such a way will ALWAYS bite you back.
Instead rather provide a clause that if the original mod-author comes back and he agrees, you would happily join forces and bring this mod it's deserved glory.
Not, doing hostile take-over, just that Microsoft now owns MC and mods are now technically Illegal and any copyrighted material under their game can now be stolen from you and your money that you paid on the Copyright gone.
But on your part, throwing comments to blow out and start an argument isn't the best way to start off on another person...
Last I checked, Phil Spencer wasnt going to change Minecraft AT ALL in its current state (code, EULA, community, etc).
So fact of the matter is, MS EULA doesnt apply to MC, otherwise old CEO would have stated otherwise.
Your logic isnt wrong, just flawed based on official statements.
(fyi if mods really are illegal, every modpack site would have been shutdown instantly with cease and desist orders and with an IP that nets hundreds of millions a year, its not like MS would be dragging their feet doing so, if they had the desire to)
Maybe they changed it because MS took down Technic Launcher, and announced that they would also be putting a new system into effect come January 2015, and all non-paying homegrown servers were to be shut down or be transferred to an official payed server status. A bit of what they said was taken back after all the negative feed started rolling in. But Microsoft announced that MC will follow the same EULA as all their other gaming products, but Owen Hill (minecraft word officer) said "that their is no official statement to mojang's official EULA except that it is now no longer active, and has been replaced by Microsofts store EULA"
Their EULA says no "modifications,montalization,etc..."
(technic launcher has been back up for a while) it was removed on DCMA grounds a week after the purchase along with a lot of small to big servers, but then came up again, along with everything else, (Microsoft did not speak on this matter)
1. I do not think that mod authors have any legal claim to their mods given the Mojang and Microsoft EULAs. That said, it would have to be tested in court and I hope it never comes to that.
2. Common politeness does compel me to agree that explicit permission should be obtained from a mod author that hasn't explicitly open sourced their mod.
3. I do wish mod authors, especially ones with good mods, and especially ones that do not have sufficient time to update said mods, would choose to host their mod on, e.g. github, and explicitly open source it. This potentially makes the work of updating for minecraft/forge versions simple for the busy github owner: accept a pull request, do a build, and go back to studies / other rl concerns until they are ready/able to return and add content.
Lots of mod authros seem to be under the misapprehension that by sharing their mod code on github, or by choosing an OSS license, that they relinquish control of content the mod. In fact they have total control over who can submit patches to the main branch, and, for as long as the official branch continues to be maintained, no one bothers to create a forked project.
true I like the fact that they have so many mobs

Please, be patient.
