I know this officially makes me an idiot, but... Mind telling me where the config file is for better blocks and items.. I really want ice stairs
No worries! The question comes up a lot, but I understand that a lot of the mod-installing process is really unintuitive and frustrating to figure out. I'll be putting a detailed guide up in the first post soon, but here's something to get the job done until then:
Navigate to your .minecraft folder. Inside there should be a folder called 'config', and inside that should be a text file called "mod_BetterMisc" or "BetterBlocks&Items" (depending on the version of the mod that you're using). If you're using the ModLoader version, you'll see two lists when you open the config file. At the top is a list of comments that describe what the bottom options do; be sure not to edit anything other than the actual options as that will cause the file to be rewritten (and revert your changes as a result).
I have run into this issue several times before and I thought it was time to bring it up here. See, I love this mod pack and I'm using most of it in my game. (Never tried slime spansion though) Anyhow, ive had to drop Useful Storage because it wouldn't play nice with another mod I really wanted to run. But it isn't really just an issue with Useful Storage... it seems that there is something in the way VWS deals with Texture Overrides that will cause it to work fine with XX mods, but will cause it to crash with XXY mods. I keep geting a Bit Index out of bounds < 0 error when adding certain mods, but the crash report always points back to one of the VWS mods.
Example: I had VWS running fine with a lot of other mods. My VWS has (Better Mics, Better Fences, Useful Storage, Rotation Key, and Metal Rods) Then I add in another really cool mod, we'll call it CoolMod and suddenly It crashes, saying that the bit index in the texture override registry is < 0. It tells me that Useful Storage is the culprit. So I take US out and it crashes again. It tells me that Wireless Redstone is the culprit of the same error. I take that one out all runs fine. (I look online and WR has a new version that fixes the error. so I put it back in.) So now I am runing CoolMod but no Useful Storage. Then NeatoMod comes out and I have to have it, but when I install it, it tells me that Metal Rods isn't playing nice with the texture index again.... So I have to choose betweeen Neato and Metal Rods...
So I have to conclude that the problem is fixable, since WR fixed it and it must have something to do with the way VWS is working with textures. (sounds like a fencepost prblem) So I'm left with the hope that YOU can make the necessary adjustment to VWS so that Mods Everwhere can all jus tGet Along
Are you running the ModLoader versions of the mods? If so, I think I know what may be causing your issue. Please post the error message here when you get a chance and I'll try and help figure this out as soon as I can.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not a huge fan of the phantom block idea (doesn't really fit with Survival in my eyes), but storing orientations would be useful and I may try and add something like that in the future.
One thing I was hoping for was to use glass panes and iron bars for windows and pipe grates, but since vertical half blocks are still counted as transparent blocks the panes connect to the blocks the same way. Either they don't reach or connect to them or they have bits sticking out. I'm not sure how hard it would be to make them an exception to how panes usually connect to transparent blocks, but I can accept things as it is if nothing can be done.
Just tried using Fancy Fences and I encoutered an error.

Apparently your mod and Extrabiomes is conflicting over a slot id.

Just change the block ID in fancyfences' config file.
I just noticed that I was using the ModLoader and not the Forge versions.. so i've just downloaded the forge versions and I'll see if they play nice with others.
The good news is, useful storage and all of the other VWS mods loaded normally once I had the Forge versions installed. However in the first two minutes I found a bug you should know about.
I made a Charcoal Block, I placed it. It was somehow indestructable. Not even a diamond pick would break it. I then used creative mode pick block to get the block back and destroyed it. However the DM block was a Coal block, not a charcoal block.
In the video I saw, the Scarecrow was made with two wheat blocks stacked and a pumpkin on top. However this didn't work for me. Is the scarecrow still in the mod? Has the recipe changed?
Love the mods. Keep up the great work! I hope you work out SMP. It'd be amazing. You could always ask over at the Minecraft Forge Forums on how to work something like that out.
Again, keep up the great work!
Also, it seems that the jungle wood top's texture in BetterBlocks&Items is completely transparent when placed into the world, but not in the inventory. It's pretty much an X-ray.
By the looks of it that's a result of a compatibility issue with the Better Wood portion of that mod. If there is a way to disable it separately then that should fix the issue, but otherwise there isn't really anything I can do.
I suppose it's impossible to make a version for 1.2.5?
Not impossible, but (sorry to say) it would take time and effort that I'd much rather spend working on new mods and the upcoming 1.4 updates.
Speaking of which: I've been a bit too busy with school and other things to work on anything mod-related the last few weeks, but once 1.4 hits I'll be making it a priority to update the mods as soon as I can (even if nothing new gets finished up beforehand).

Now check it, BetterBlocks & Items is not the problem, the problem is RotationKey not know why, but I think both mods modify textures and cause the problem. Anyway, I think I'll have to fix the problem.

Sorry, I meant the Better Wood component of the other mod you're running. Both RotationKey and BetterBlocks&Items make (indirect) changes to the BlockLog class.
No worries! At the moment I don't believe so. I did try and work out SMP compatibility about a month ago, but I haven't had a chance to test myself and by the sound of it most everyone who has tried running the mods on a server has had issues. All of the mods should work over LAN though (assuming all players connecting have the same mod and config set-up).
Get a bit better in the forum!

Otherwise it seems to be working well.

When i use this mods in the same time i get a graphical bug.
PICS of the BUG's.
When i use Forge Version. http://i.imgur.com/WyjX0.png
When i use the Normal Version (Modloader). http://i.imgur.com/wFryR.png
Please, Fix this bugs.
Especially because it brings 1.3.2 to 1.2.5. (I don't update because I'd miss too many mods atm. :C )
However, I can't find the rotation key mod for 1.2.5. Where is the archived version of 1.2.5 for it?
This is one of the most brilliant functions I've ever seen!
Jeb MUST implement this too!
I suppose it's impossible to make a version for 1.2.5?
No?
I thought so. :C

Guessed so much. ^^'
