Okay not sure what the problem is but when i select the liteloader profile and try to run the game, the launcher disappears as if it's going to load but the the initial menu shows up with the news, play button, etc. what am i doing wrong? i downloaded the latest liteloader for my version, 1.7.2 but it isn't working, also, this is before i've placed gammabright in the mod folder. i'm trying to run it for the first time to make the folder appear. i chained it to forge, the one i have is 10.12.0.1024

Chain to forge 10.12.0.1025 (new stable release)And do you have any other mods installed?
Through forge yes there are other mods. Deconstruction mod, auto switch mod, Doom lik dungeons mod, dynamic lights mod, extra uses mod, fortune ores mod, obsidian boat mod, and an API for the auto switch mod made by the creator of that mod. it's called thebombzenAPI. and i was unaware there was a newer version, thanks i'll try that

turns out the issue was i have two directories i use, one for 1.6.4 and one for 1.7.2, and the lite loader profile was set to use the 1.6.4 directory and that had all of my forge stuff for 1.6.4 mods. i switched to the 1.7.2 directory and now it's fine
I don't believe I can control that. I think you need to disable the option for the custom litemap yourself, then everything should work good. As I'm completing the LiteLoader version I'll see if it happens with that.
Edit (1/21/2014): Just tested the newest LiteLoader version for 1.7.2 alongside Forge and no problems whatsoever. It's your resource pack breaking Gammabright, which I cover a fix for under the "FAQ and Fixes" section in the main post.
did you ever answer my previous question as to whether or not you can add a second button that disables all currently active dimming effects?? these can sometimes be maliciously applied to modded dimensions by incompetent mod authors that don't seem to understand how it works or don't care that dimming effects break torches, glowstone and other light sources making even full bright blocks appear to be in deep shadow.
This is perhaps one of the worst mechanics mojang ever implemented and the person who added the dimming effect to the rendering engine should have been drawn an quartered.

Unfortunately no. I can't stretch the basic functionality that Gammabright is based on (the brightness/gamma solely) to accomplish that. This goes back, as you said, to the game's rendering engine. You can set Gammabright to max and that will hide all shadows and dark spots, but everything will be fullbright of course.
Will there be a forge only version for 1.7.2 (especially since it's finally stable...) - I don't want to have to put my players through the ringer with this liteloader stuff - they can barely install mods as it is... :/

I understand that it would be easier for them to just stick with Forge, but installing LiteLoader and merging with Forge is as easy as running a simple installer. The benefits of using LiteLoader are also a lot greater, I wish more people would switch over to it.
This is my opinion, as a mod developer. My goal is to get my mods updated and released ASAP. And with that, some stability is nice too. You see how long it took Forge to become stable? It's most likely going to require that same amount of time for future major updates, since Forge's span is so wide and developed. I spent weeks switching over to LiteLoader because it's for the better for a simple mod like this, and I'm just not going to go back to the mess that Forge is to work with. Hope you understand...

Some of my players can barely use a computer (I swear it's the truth). I even had to write batch files for them to update their mods (and they STILL have problems with it!)

Yeah, forge was messy for a while... I understand. It'll be nice when Mojang gets the modders API going ... (Yes, I laughed too... That'll be in 50 years.)
But anyway, I'll see if I can come up with a way around it; if nothing else - I'll use it and they can go off
Finally realized Gammabright was the culprit behind an issue I am experiencing.
I don't always have the need to use Gammabright, but when I do it is truly invaluable. Frequently when I close Minecraft and come back I've noticed my brightness settings for regular MC change from Bright to Moody. It has become second nature it seems to change it back as soon as I open MC.
Is there something I can do with Gammabright to avoid this issue from happening?

In past versions of Gammabright I have taken precautions to prevent this from happening, but it could possibly be that it is backfiring in the latest updates. To fix this I will most likely have to create a separate file for Gammabright to remember the brightness in itself, instead of relying on the default options.txt file. I'll try and get this fixed as soon as possible.
I may release a quick update for 1.7.8 once LiteLoader updates, just so people can get the mod fast, but I'll continue working after that to solve this issue in particular. Thanks for letting me know!

Do you think you can add server permissions to this plugin using ClientPermissions? It is a plugin for Bukkit, and it is made by the same people that mad Liteloader, so I imagine it is easy to implament since you use it. Thanks!

I will see, but disabling the mod isn't really going to stop people from cranking up their brightness. Using any client, vanilla or not, users can simple modify the gamma value in their options.txt file to achieve Gammabright's effects. The mod just takes some of the hassle out of it.
It now works
Absolutely nothing...
You sure?
Am I ever sure xD

See if it works with no other mods active
Read the FAQ, there's a fix.
