1) Install Forge.
2) Place the zip in the mods folder.
3) Play!
3) Change the IDs [forge should auto config IDs if they are taken] or configure the mod in Dw209x9.cfg.
Craft the block out of Logs, Smooth Stone, or Stone Bricks in this shape:
X
X X
XXX
Place the block where you want the house centered (floor will be made underneath it).
Right click the block.
Tier 1 - Logs: Cobblestone house with no bells or whistles.
Tier 2 - Smooth Stone: Smooth Stone house with all the bells and whistles.
Tier 3 - Stone Brick: Stone Brick house with all the bells and whistles.
You should make it so whatever block you place in the middle will make the 9X9 with that block and like you should put glass in the top right and top left so it can have glass or no glass. Really good mod To you

this egg is alduin make him hatch as a friendly dragon to defeat the daedra (click to help hatch)
you know what would be more useful? if you destroy the block it will remove the house and give the houseBlock back so that you can move the room with yourself
I think you did it one to high. If im right make the recipie equivlant to 258 emc. If your right it should be 290. Thats excluding torches.
Lets see if the forum eats this post too...
I'll probably tweak the recipe a bit, I want it to be fairly easy to get early on. If you *really* want to use it to cheat, just change it to build the house out of diamond blocks I actually didn't even calculate the EMC value of the block... if it is actually more than the cost of the materials, I'm fine with that. Consider it the "elbow grease" of having to build it by hand then hehe.

I use that during testing, but have the block overwritten by air in the final release. If I leave the block then you can hit it by accident and anything inside the house that is added after you build it will be destroyed. This is because it fills the inside with air blocks to prevent cliffs, trees, etc from leaving stuff inside. This way you don't have to level terrain to build it. I originally planned to have you use a stick to activate the block, might still do that.
It is not really a problem. I sent a him PM to let him know that I am pretty much finished with this mod. I am happy with this one as it is. It is simple and does the job I wanted it to, so I don't plan to expand on it any more. jjw123 is continuing to add to and expand his mod. So if anyone wants a more customizable and robust version go check his mod out.
Hey code_rage, I was in the config file trying to change the block ID cause it conflicts with forestry, but everytime I change the ID and run minecraft it says blockaID 198 is aleady used by forestry and then when I go back to the config file its back to the original block ID. The block ID I am using is 2002. Thnx for reading!
Well, this is interesting... jjw's mod seems to have completely disappeared, leaving you with the only 9x9 house mod in existence, as far as my research can tell. Is there any possible way to update this to the latest MC version, and possibly use the Forge API as well so it doesn't "conflict" with other installed mods? I most certainly would like to be able to use a mod like this in my ssp at the very least.
Also, suggestion for the update if it happens: use obsidian/diamond somewhere in the recipe. The "current" recipe seems a bit too OP, as getting the logs and wool necessary with the current structure of mods out there is very easy. Obsidian and diamonds are rather easy as well, but at least something as "cheaty" as this waits for mid-game to be available if obsidian and/or diamond is used in the recipe. Maybe have a config where one can change between harder or easier recipe modes for those who use this alongside plain vanilla(unmodded) minecraft?
Nix that. Found jjw's mod. Funny how success comes after failure. In this case, here I already posted saying I would like an update and that previous attempts at searching for jjw's mod have failed me. Yet, a continued search effort has rendered success. I have found his mod. Here it is for those who try the above now-broken links: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1167619-125-direwolf20-99-house-mod-v122-updated-180412/page__st__240. Warning: it also has not been updated to more current versions of minecraft yet either. Seems as if jjw is very busy with the new FTB Launcher, according to his latest post in that thread as of this posting. Here's looking forward to a continued 9x9 House mod by either of these two authors in the near future.
Ok. I'm downloading the mcp/forge/eclipse stuff right now to update this to 1.4.7. May take me a few days as this will be the first time I've done anything since 1.2.5.
To-Do List:
3 Houseblocks. Default will be Cobble, Smooth, Stone Brick. (All configurable, defaults to vanilla blocks).
Configurable recipe lists.
Blacklist: ie Don't destroy bedrock.
I want to keep the functionality simple: 1) Craft the block 2) Place the block 3) Right-click the block
The mod also does not use any resources/keep anything running once it is done building the house, so no lag.
It *should* work on servers when done.. It'll have to be tested.
Changes:
-Updated to Minecraft 1.4.7
-3 Houseblocks Tier 1, 2, and 3.
-Recipe changed [temporary] to: Wood logs, Smooth stone, Stone bricks all in the same shape as before.
-Config file Dw209x9.cfg will be made in config directory.
-Config for each of the 3 IDs added by the mod.
-Can set which blocks each Tier house block uses to build the house.
Still to do:
-Blacklist blocks to destroy and/or require a clear space to build the house. The mod WILL destroy any and everything, including bedrock right now. You've been warned!
-See if it works in multiplayer. It will corrupt your world and kill your dog for all I know... anyone willing to test it, let me know!
-Customizable recipes.
-Probably some better textures.
2) Place the zip in the mods folder.
3) Play!
3) Change the IDs [forge should auto config IDs if they are taken] or configure the mod in Dw209x9.cfg.
Craft the block out of Logs, Smooth Stone, or Stone Bricks in this shape:

Right click the block.
Tier 1 - Logs: Cobblestone house with no bells or whistles.
Tier 2 - Smooth Stone: Smooth Stone house with all the bells and whistles.
Tier 3 - Stone Brick: Stone Brick house with all the bells and whistles.
