I use to be able to tame parrots but now i cant. idk if its a bug or you simply just removed that feature. I know that they are breedable but idk if they are still tamable if so could you tell what birds are tamable and how. thanks

97% of teenagers would cry if they saw Justin Bieber on top of a tower about to jump. If your the 3% who is sitting there with popcorn screaming "DO A BACKFLIP", copy and paste this as your signature.
Result: Too many in a small region (see attached image).
Bug: Tame parrots lose durability while on shoulder if player gets damage.
Thank you as always, Ezer! Unfortunately that config won't do anything because I changed the bird spawning to be hardcoded - something I'm going to change back next update. I'm also trying to figure out another way to make the parrots sit on the player's shoulders. Minecraft does it a nice way in 1.12, so trying to see if I can replicate something like that in older versions

Oh I didn't know it. I understand someone might want to spawn dozens of a bird type via config. What if the spawn frequency were hardcoded to temperature x humidity and a global rate (instead of per-bird type rate) in the config?
Thanks for replying. Looking forward to the next updates.
So for some reason, none of the birds are spawning? Is there something else other than just Forge I should also install?
I am playing with other mods. If you need a list, please let me know! I don't know why the birds aren't spawning.
I am using the 1.8.9 version.
Heya! Nope, you just need Forge (and the mod of course!). Unfortunately Mo Creatures' conflicts with the spawning on creatures, so if you have that installed, that may be why D:
Random question about the phoenixes... (Don't know if you want to answer this or leave it as a secret, just thought I'd put it out there.)
I've noticed that there are 8 types of phoenix in the encyclopedia, and that their environment when hatching determines which type.
As my test egg is taking forever to hatch, let me guess what blocks/environment it has to be in for each type:
1: normal environment
2: in the air
3: water
4: fire
5: ice
6: sand
7: endstone
8: darkness
Am I close?
Haha yep! You got most of them right! I'm not going to say the exact details, but the variant is affected by the biome the egg is in, so instead of fire, it will be in the Nether Also not sure if you knew, but you can right click the phoenix egg to find out how far along the hatching process is

Nope! No Mo' Creatures. There is sooo much to that mod that if I installed it, it would only be that mod.
So then do they just spawn sparsely? I was traveling a river but saw no ducks or swans? Are they just rarer than normal animals (pigs, cows, etc.)?
Hiya! Been playing with and have always loved this mod so much for a while now Just wondering though, are you able to tame birds in 1.7.10? I can breed them with seeds, but not tame them. If you can't in 1.7.10, would it be possible to make it so they can be tamable for that version? Thank you
This mod is so dang sweet. I can't wait for a more up-to-date version, but perfection takes time. Also, I see you haven't added hawks yet, any plans on that?
So, I was super excited to learn that there were more types of phoenix now, but I've tried about three times to hatch a water phoenix naturally and it keeps hatching as a normal one. I've tried... in a chamber in an ocean, on top of a block of sand on a beach, and placing it directly in water in a river. What would it take to get one of these birds to hatch blue?
I haven't tried for any others yet, so I don't know if it's just the water phoenix that is being this stubborn.
I tried taming Kiwi's with seeds and Ostriches with apples...
Suggestion: Will the Phoenix have a Full Lifespan (Different Mob)
As a Different Mob, the Phoenix has a Lifespan. (Baby, Adult, Elder) unlike the original (Baby, Adult) as im aware. 2 Phoenixes with different AI's.
The new Phoenix will have a Different Baby texture, that is glowing white and highly fast and active, like the beginning of a star or flame.
The new Phoenix's Adult stage will be like our star, yellowish orangish whitish. Will be like the Normal Adult Phoenix, along with hunting.
The New Phoenix's Elder stage will be like the end of a star, a deep red. It will be not as active, then slow, then will die.

YAY! I love this mod! Keep up the good work!
Try pumpkin seeds.

You should. ;3
BTW, I've tried to tweak a config to make the birds a bit rarer. It seems spawn rate is still a bit too high for certain biomes.
For example, peafowl in Plans biome. I used this:
Result: Too many in a small region (see attached image).
Bug: Tame parrots lose durability while on shoulder if player gets damage.

There will be a 1.10.2 version but as 1.11.2 was the newest update at the time, that one took priority.
You can't tame those two birds! Sorry!

I see (I thought tempted meant the same as tamed (I hadn't looked at all the birds pages))
are taming more birds planned?

Can you tame the birds??
Pavo, your woodpeckers have superpowers. They can float and peck air. (see screenshot)
You can tame parrots and pelicans (check the Encyclopedia of Birds for others, if any).
