Oh my goodness, Ezer! Thank you so much for this! This is so helpful.
So that Encyclopedia-Inventory save thing has been there for a while, as you said. I really have no idea what's causing it. I believed at first it was due to the number of NBT tags on it - that it was complaining somehow and preventing the inventory from saving correctly. I guess not, but I don't know where to begin on trying to fix it.
As for the smart moving thing. Yeah that's kind of a conflict of mods, so not sure I'll be fixing that soon D:
The parrot follow/sitting thing was removed as I thought picking them up made that obsolete. But I could bring it back if necessary.
And finally, yes! Of course! I'd happily accept translations from people. Someone suggested somewhere that I start up a git or something for people to contribute, but I don't know how to go about doing that D:

I guess, the smart moving issue is the most difficult one and pretty much aesthetics. Kinda low importance for the time being.
I'm not sure if the sitting and walking modes became definitely obsolete with the new features; I'm sure they are in a certain degree. On the other hand, the follow mode is a bit different: it's intuitive for players to expect the tame birds will follow them pretty much like they do with tame wolves and cats. Just my humble 2¢. :3

I was just about to edit my post, but noticed you'd replied. So I think I found the issue with the inventory glitch: I was initialising a container for the GUI on the server and not disabling it after the GUI was closed. Turns out I don't even need one as there are no items in it. So it *should* be fixed. The glitch doesn't always happen for me though, so I can't be 100% sure. I've uploaded this new version to CurseForge though - just need them to approve it.
And hmm, okie dokie. I'll definitely take that into consideration. I did something similar with the pelicans as well - I wasn't sure if I should enable them to follow the player, or to give them follow/sitting modes too. I mean I can definitely add it back in.

Great! Forgot to add: in case you add it back in, left-click to pick up; shift+left-click to change modes.

Hey, I'm upload this just for lulz:
Since parrots can be an armor piece, they are compatible with Armor Stands, NPCs and Bibliocraft Armor stands.
Thanks for the swift update.

Last question:
- Pelicans can now be tamed and will fish for you. You can open their inventory by sneaking and right clicking.
How do I tame pelicans? I gave them some raw fish and their heart icons popped up, but it seems nothing changed. o.O

Liking the new update, especially the new encyclopaedia. Much easier to find info than flicking through all the pages.
Shoulder parrots are also compatible with CosmeticArmor, which is pretty nice
I'm surprised the phoenix still only has one animation state though. You'd think they'd get tired of flapping their wings all day...
For those of us who are magically inclined, will there be a way to tame/shoulder owls at some point in future, ala Witchery familiars?
If possible, since this mod is rather dead and buggy, is there a chance of (tameable) birds of prey like hawks or falcons? Falconry would be an amazing hunting option

Please forgive me if this has already been answered. My wife and I love this mod and have been playing on a server with it running for many months now. When we realised there was a new version, we upgraded - yesterday, in fact. It all seems to be working, but we haven't seen any of the new birds yet. This may just be a matter of time.
However, it prompted me to look in the config file. We were still using the previous config file, with entries for all of the existing birds. So I tried removing that file and allowing the mod to create a new one. It created one, but only with a small number of entries for magpie and phoenix only. I tried editing our old config file, inserting entries for all of the new birds.
The question is, should I have a config file with all of these entries, or should I just allow the mod to create a fresh one with only magpie and phoenix in it?
I hope someone can set me right on this. As I said, we both love the mod and it adds a mass of extra atmosphere to our Life in the Woods server!

Thank you so much! Going to respond to your points here:
Firstly, yep, I know. The phoenixes are going to be very tired. I was going to add a resting pose for them, but I wanted to get a new version out as it's been over the year since the last update, and it completely slipped my mind. It'll be added to the next update though - whenever that will be.
I also definitely want to add falconry. I've been postponing it, and thinking about whether I should release the falconry aspect as it's own mod, or an add on. Hence why there are no birds of prey in the mod (besides owls and vultures of course!)

Don't worry, this question hasn't been added yet. In the newer update I tried to use a different entity spawning method which overrides the Mo'Creatures spawning and allows the birds to spawn alongside that mod (it would originally conflict and prevent them from spawning). I also removed the config as all the spawns are hardcoded and cannot be edited. I will probably change it back though because I am finding the birds aren't as common as they once were. No idea for the reasoning behind that though.

It's quite a relief to know that we haven't broken anything by playing around with the config file, and I imagine the scarcity of the new birds is - as you said - because all of the birds are less common than they were.
I'll keep my eye on this thread, in case you do bring out another release soon.
Thanks again. Great mod! Keep it up!

So, I'm trying to tame the birds, and I spawned them with the egg, but I click them with the items and nothing happens, the item doesn't even get used up, am I doing something wrong somehow?

I don't suppose you could elaborate could you? Which birds are you giving which items? Then I can see if it's a bug ^^

Oh my goodness!! That's so funny pahaha! And use cooked fish - I think it says in the bird encyclopedia, but I'll have to double check x3

In the latest 1.7.10 version can you make it so classifying birds gives experience
It says Dropbox 404 Error, can you fix that maybe?
peace & pros
Hi, the Dropbox versions are old versions so are no longer public. You can download the most recent from CurseForge here: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/exotic-birds
