^^ Why, because his mod has a peacock? He didn't steal anything. Or did Project Zulu steal from Mo'C because he has horses? Lots of mods have duplicate content, doesn't mean they stole from each other. Now if he ripped the texture from here, that's different...
I have to admit, it is a shame that he's doing peacocks, now my mod won't get as much attention. I have avoided birds that he's got in his mod, but there's nothing i can do ;(
Well, FWIW I'm betting your peacocks are better, since you have more variety. I really haven't seen much of either mod in action yet though... I wouldn't fret it over 1 dupe, and if you're making more birds, you may want to also check Mo'C, Project Zulu and AtmosMobs since they all have birds as well. Note: don't bother with ostriches. If you could code it, maybe add some behaviors like predatory birds diving down to grab fish or small animals like mice. I haven't seen any that can do that as of yet.
Anyway there are plenty more birds that aren't out there you could do: quetzals, hawks (surprisingly, I haven't seen any), falcons, maybe pull some from here.
Good luck bro!
edit: just noticed there's no config file? It would be useful if you'd use one. I know there are a bunch of players that load their game up with tons of mods, so id conflicts are quite common. And maybe pack those .jar files into a zip, so it can be added or removed easier via MultiMC (would be a boon to me, at least ) I tried that myself but it didn't work....
edit again: all the birds look good! Well, except for the roadrunner, looks like that one isn't loading its texture, for some reason...

Config files is what i planned next, and yeah the roadrunner, i forgot to capitalise the first letter in the picture name >:L

It looks like a couple kids in school working together on a mod. Maybe you could help them out and all work together? I realize you have your own ideas so that might not go over so well, but thought I'd toss the idea in there anyway.
I saw someone say something about bird feeders attracting birds. I think that would be nice. I think it would be cool to make a bird house to attract birds too, or a type of habitat so they will be drawn there. If you want to be realistic, not all bird should be sweet and wonderful. Crows should attack gardens. You may need to make a scarecrow to keep them out. Some birds are noisy and annoying. You might want to do something to run them away. One example would be a woodpecker. If you live in a wood house or have a wooden structure outside, they might be attracted to it and peck holes in the sides, sometimes destroying the block if they peck enough. You may need rubber snakes to put on your house to keep them away.
Some birds may be attracted to berry bushes or trees. Will cats chase some birds?
A suggestion for a bird I haven't seen (maybe overlooked) but how about a mocking bird? You could get really silly with this one. Can you imagine a mockingbird sneaking up and making creeper sounds? The Lyre bird does that as well. A quick youtube or google search will show you a Lyre bird. They even mimic people cutting trees. What ever they hear, they "sing" it. I think it would be funny to hear Sssss BOOM! and turn around to realize it is a Mocking bird or a Lyre bird.
Are there any cave birds? Snipes maybe? Something to liven up the dark caves a bit? I guess Screech Owls might like caves since they are nocturnal. I suppose if you wanted to go winged animals you could do a vampire bat. Vampire bats love to drain chickens. Zombie chickens? LOL! I guess zombie chickens would lay rotten fowl eggs. (doh)
I'm looking forward to building an aviary. Nice work so far. Hope something I typed will inspire you.
When i spawned a peacock minecraft froze up without even crashing,Just a freeze...
Until i can figure out a way around this i'm just gonna take this mod out temporarily, Don't want peacocks spawning naturally and messing up me mining.
Edit: Mathematical Dessert post!
Edit: It seems that the spawn egg being used causes the game to freeze, Anybody else having this problem?
Forever both a Chrono Trigger fan and a brony.
My avatar is an alien parasitic killing machine that has used all the DNA on the planet to make itself into the ultimate being.
Ok i've figured out that it's the peacock freezing my game like i originally thought, I have no idea wy but when i came across a group of wild peacocks i got instant freeze

My guess is that you haven't put the second peacock folder (the one with the sounds) in the right place, so every time you spawn a bird, it tries to make a sound, but can't find the file and crashes.
Dude do a toucan. I understand it's in the Birds mod but so what, do it anyway (the toucan is the only bird left in that mod I care to use, and don't think it's worth dealing with another mod just for 1 bird). And any other exotic-looking jungle birds, we need more of them! Btw, I thought about that idea I mentioned the other day, about adding 'predatory' behavior to some birds, making them dive down to snatch up some prey. I don't know much about modding, but I figure all it would take would be 2 textures: one for the bird, and one for the bird with something in it's talons.

Hmm, toucans were on my to do list, i'm just trying to rewrite the flying code so you can catch the birds
Hehe, there's lots more to modding than that, not just textures!
This is one awesome mod, Wonder If the birds is tamable, and after taming it we can name it. You should continue adding more birds and more penguins =D. You can search online for birds species, you should make a eagle too, it will be really cool to have a pet eagle that you name it and will fly around you and attack mobs and if no mobs is present it will be in front of you then you right click it to put it on your shoulder so it wont attack.
PLEASE MAKE A VERSION 1.3.2 COMPATIBLE

Isn't that a downgrade though?
NEWEST VERSION FOR 1.4.7 IS UPLOADED.
It adds robins, woodpeckers and birdhouses. Sorry that there wasn't a sooner update. Haven't had much time due to exams and coursework etc.
Yeah i noticed, i assigned some free ID's to the ones in the config and at the second start up i still had an ID error for the BirdCage.
So an small update on that would be much appreciated.
edit: In case someone needs it, is there a way to figure out what Mob ID's other mods have in use?
And is there a reason why you are doing it this way, most other mods automatically assign a free ID to their mobs if i'm correct?
edit2: Why is that the item ID's aren't allowed to go higher then 255?
Answer 1: I'm not sure. This mod automatically assigns free ID's but I thought it would be useful for people to change them if they wished.
Answer 2: They are able to, the details in the config files are just the ones that are auto-created when the file is made.
Reply to answer 1; I had 2 conflicts with Biomes O Plenty with Mob ID's
Reply to answer 2; When i have them at 22000+ it gives me an error in the Forge log and still uses the +/-2000 ID's which conflicts (again) with BOP.
edit: I've been trying for 15 minutes now to get the Mob ID's to free ones but i keep seeing this show up
2013-02-24 01:41:55 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] The mod mod_Peacock has attempted to register an entity ID <#WHATEVER NUMBER I HAD ASSIGNED TO ONE OF YOUR MOBS#> which is already reserved. This could cause severe problems
No matter what # i put there. Tried the defaults, 150+, 130+, 120+ & 80+
There is always one that gives an error.
edit2: Seriously, i'm giving up now, can't seem to find enough free ID's, it keeps telling me one is already in use.
I probably have already restarded my MC 20 times to see if i had accidently chosen a free ID.
Ah, sorry that isn't your problem. It was an error by me, (that's why I shouldn't be coding at midnight). I'll see if I can get an updated version.

It's incomplete in the sense that only the blocks are in the config. If I have enough time, I'll see if I can config the rest tonight.
Fixed
