A "patch" file contains the differences between my version of FontRenderer.java and the original one. Any line that begins with a plus sign is code that I added and the few lines with a minus sign are code I deleted. The remaining lines are just snipets of the existing unmodifed code in the file, and these provide the "context" for where my changes need to be applied. If you have MCP, look in the runtime/bin directory, there's an applydiff.exe that knows how to apply the changes descriped in a patch file to the actual code file.

it's take a REALLY long time!
it's running for 10 minutes now and nothing happend , Just An empty Black CMD screen
After installing this mod, I get a crash when switching texture packs. It could be an issue with MCPatcher, but I was able to switch texture packs without crashing before I installed this one...
Just FYI, I don't switch pack all that often, and restarting the game loads the new pack as expected, it's just the act of switching that's the issue.

I fixed the issue in version 1.3.1-1. Check the first post for a download link.
Can you give picture examples of your framerate, before you installed the mod (ie, with the default Minecraft font), and after you installed the mod (with a couple different fonts, to display any possible FPS changes)?
I don't have new screenshots for you but I didn't notice any measurable FPS difference with this mod. I have a ThinkPad W520 with a NVIDIA Quadro 1000M which I guess that's low to mid-range? My FPS will vary widely in Minecraft. On default settings it can be anywhere between 30-70fps.
Now a few people did report a large FPS drop with the 1.2.5 mod installed. I've tried to make some more performance improvements in the 1.3.1 version, so I'm curious to know if they made any noticable difference for those people.
I absolutely love this mod, makes Minecraft look that much better. Thankyou! I'm currently using Segoe UI Semilight (Windows 8 version) size 20 with AA on. Looks beautiful.
Unfortunately, the Minecraft Coder Pack (which I need to compile the code) only has support for 12w26a right now.

The official 1.3.1 version is coming out tomorrow so I'll just use that.

That's with you recompiling it? It's crashing somewhere. You need to start Minecraft with the console open so you can see the stack trace.
no , with Applydiff.exee
Thanks 4 ur help =)
Don't mean to pester, just love this mod!
Keep up the good work!

Forum signatures are so 2012.
New Bugs: You can't type Unicode text into the chat anymore like you could in 1.2.5. I'm still tyring to figure this one out.

Thank you, works perfectly now! This mod joins the short list of "can't play without it" mods.
Patcher dont load it.
But Betterfont 1.3.1 works for me.
Interesting idea. I'll add it to my todo list.
Try using MCpatcher first on the unmodifed minecraft.jar, and then install BetterFonts 1.3.1-1 on top of it.
I install [1.3.1] BetterFonts - all fine, but i can not find config file ".minecraft/config/BetterFonts.cfg" ...
Sorry for my english.
