After over an hour of meddling with mob-adding mods, I'm at my wit's end.
Why does this mod not have mob on/off options in it's config? Can't we raise the bar and call this "standard"?
The option of using Mob Spawn Helper Mod isn't acceptable. It's a non-mod: It defaults ALL of my mobs to "disabled", then forces me to go through each one - even the Vanilla Mobs - and set how large of a group they spawn in!? Whether they spawn in specific biomes!?
I don't want that much control over my mobs!! I just want SOME! You figure out how many, and let me disable the ones I don't particularly like, please.
Thanks for your consideration.
PS: I hope you can empathize with my sentiments, at the very least. Yes, yes "The mod author has worked very hard". Please, don't everyone come to the defense of the mod author. Just let me say my peace to him/her. Of course, your first instinct is to defend the current state of the mod. I'm fairly certain the option to disable mobs was in before, and it's certainly in Mo' Creatures. I'm just giving you a heads up that - if you care - some of your mod's fans feel it's missing this option.
I agree, I'd like to disable santa (cause it's not christmas anymore) and lava snakes (cause they are lagging up my minecraft with them crowding up in one small area), I'd also like to disable owls cause their destroying my fields at night, Going out to hunt monsters and seeing about 25 owls destroying my farm cause they spawned nearby and got chased by Mo' Creatures scorpions is NOT what i like!

Lol i've discovered that scorpions from Mo' Creatures will try and attack christmas trees, Btw any way i remove the trees?

I agree with this guy agreeing. I installed the mod hoping to see some cool new mobs around the world, but they didn't show up... Then I figured out how to open the mob control window and was very disappointed at the fact that there was no default spawn rates, like you'd think there would be...
Daveyx0, could you include some default config file with the mod so people wouldn't have to do it manually?
I've just realized that once you get a tree star, 1 of any dye and 1 glowstone dust that you can just make christmas trees and decorate them then open the presents, And i got more then a double chest of records this way, And i got more then enough diamonds to make a full set of diamond armor.

I'm still tweaking the spawn rate but this should not happen. Do you have Mo Creatures? It could be that Mo makes a new standard for the frequencies meaning that owls and bats spawn more. If not, then it's strange because the Bat and Owl frequency isn't even set to that high. I will tweak the spawn rates now. A new special version should be out before 2013
Yes i do have mo'creatues! xD (I love having many kinds of mobs) thanks! i will be waiting for the update, for now i'll just remove it :'( and stick with just mo creatures because walking outside... pheewww shoot a bow 20 times you'll always hit something xD

okay, thanks! *waiting mode*
It happens to me as well, Except that owls are laying waste to my farms, At night i sit in my watchtower shooting a bow at owls, Atleast it's helping me with bow shooting.

.... I'm working as hard as I can to make everyone content...
Some of the feedback I get just confuses me. One guy says: NOTHING SPAWNZZ, the other guy says: OMG SO MANY MOBZZ. It's difficult to understand where the problem lies. I guess the problem are my monster spawns and not the creature spawns, but I'm still almost possitive that that is caused by MoCreatures and not this mod. MoCreatures removes the default spawning of Minecraft mobs and adds its own spawn specifications to them. However the game took those spawns into consideration when adding my mobs. As MoCreatures sets the monster spawn default lower, my spawn rates, which are unchanged, seem higher to the game and therefor many Owls will spawn ;/
I might make a MoCreatures friendly config but having to adjust to that mod just makes me rage. Mainly because I will pobably not use it anymore because it went into the wrong direction.
That's my look at it. You guys will be pleasently suprised about my work though. You wait....
Hey Davey! Thanks for the update - its working fine! By the way - I have no entity ticking problem anymore ?????? So whatever it was seems to have cured itself or you cured it - whichever, its working fine in 1.4.6. All spawning nicely in perfect numbers, but I am using MSC to do that though.
Hope you had a great christmas and new year!
Yes I did do some stuff to resolve this. Mainly the removing of no-despawn should have helped with that.

Thats what I was thinking, In the last update people were getting invaded by bats, I was getting none at all!

Can you please make a scarecrow or something to keep birds from farms? It would stop the owls from killing my crops every night.
I also got an idea for a nether mob, Fire wurms
They would be large lizards that could set you on fire if you attacked them, Would have the health of an enderman and could be tamed with redstone, 1% chance each attempt. If tamed they could work like a land version of the nether snake, Also they would drop ember hides which would make armor with fire resistance, Maybe they could be bred with salamander slime.
I just think it would be kinda cool.
Edit: Oops didn't notice there already was a scarecrow.

I think it went in the wrong direction with the aggressive horses and the new golems, And the ability to turn scorpions into undead scorpions.
Those golems are the one thing i will always keep not spawning.
And btw i'd really like a Mo' Creatures friendly config, I'm tired of owls ruining my farms.

I like this mod because it adds life to the world. MoCreatures just went to far, as Davey said,...and thats the best way to explain it. This is one of my favorite mods, a lot of thought went into it. I'm just waiting for an ExtraBiomesXL fix for my server :/
The Sandworms would be the larger, desert-dwelling cousins of the Cave Worm.
It would act like a mole most of the time, burrowing underground (2-3 blocks below the surface) in deserts.
Occasionally, they will leap out of the sand like a dolphin and quickly burrow back under.
Think of it like a combination of a recolored existing worm,
and a Moldorm from the Legend of Zelda series.
Here's my super-awesome shop-skills image for how it could look (although preferably, it'd have a more interesting or exotic skin/model):
They would make large sand particles wherever they move, so you'd know a sandworm is there.
Note that they wouldn't be aggressive, only if struck. If you attack one, it would burrow under the ground and follow you around before lunging up at you.
OR
They are naturally aggressive, and included in a future "Hostile AtmosMobs" expansion.
OR
They just run away. (Boring! )
When killed, it would drop a bunch of flint, some sand, maybe some meat, and maybe a chance of an Emerald or Diamond that it accidentally swallowed.
It appears that scarecrows are invincible, I've tried everything, From coating them with lava to using creepers and tnt and i've even tried the enderdragon, Nothing has worked...

Try a stick or a shovel,...sometimes simpler is better

Ehhh, I think your mod and Mo'creatures aren't really intended to work besides each other anyway. They both basically try to achieve the same thing (roughly) and incompatibilities should be expected. I'd just aim at making this mod work with FTB packs, because I can easily see this having a spot in them. (I've always added your mod to huge mod installs)

Okay i've noticed that when using phoenix wings you CANNOT attack anything, The hitbox gets in the way and stops your attacks.

I still can't destroy it, And why are scarecrows immune to explosions and lava anyways?
Oh, I think you need to right click.
From the wiki:
Right-clicking the scarecrow with a wooden shovel will make it turn.
Righ-clicking the scarecrow with a stick will destroy it and make it drop the Scarecrow item for the player to retrieve it.
