Do not be surprised - my English is Google translate. I never play Minecraft without these mods:
ExtraBiomesXl, Industrial Craft, Build Craft, LCTrees++, Metallurgy, Railcraft, Smart Moving, Forestry, Jammy Furniture Mod, Kaevator Super Slopes, Xtra Blocks, ReiMinimap, CraftGuide.
Seems like people haven't been making new templates recently, but I'm getting into this. I want to put together structures for an ancient cursed burial ground - crumbling temples, mysterious monuments, hidden tombs ripe for the looting...
Here's my first attempt: a long barrow - crunchy on the outside, mortal peril on the inside! Barrow.tml Screenshots
There is one little problem - I want to have some loot chests buried in there, but whenever I try to add another rule to the template, the ruin doesn't spawn. It just clears a big flat spot. Have I hit some kind of size limit??
I seem to have run into some kind of problem with the generation. I'm running the latest AMCO, and after having MC run out of memory, first thing that happened was large, 2D black squares appearing randomly in the sky. Now ruins and other structures have started spawning almost constantly, at this point sometimes inside each other, and even generating as I watch. My questions are
1: Are there any utilities I can run/logs I can copy to give you a better idea of what exactly is going on?
2: Do you have any general idea of what might be going on with what I've given so far?
3: In your opinion, is it safe to load worlds that this has so far been untouched by?
Aside from the memory running out, I haven't had any crashes, just wonkey behavior.
EDIT: More importantly, do you or anyone else believe this is being caused by the Ruins mod, from my description? Ruins seem to be the only structures generating in existing chunks.
Can you split the ruin types into separate download, because some of the ruins do not blend in with the world very well, like the 1x1x30 pillar ruin with glowstone on the top. That way if players want only decrepit structures and dungeon ruins they don't have to search through all the files trying to figure out which structures they want to delete.

There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.
How about you do it and i update my files with your split
No seriously i do not have the time
Sorry for how demanding the post sounded, typed while rushing, so I did not have time to read over it. I will try my best to split it up along recognizable lines.

I got ambitious and started playing around with burying structures using block ID 300. This abandoned alchemist's lab is the result!
It'll make a cozy base once you knock down the cobwebs, install some lighting, repair the brickwork, tidy up the debris, and oh yes, deal with the "experiments". Though I do wish I could use slime spawners, since that's really what you'd expect.
Lol, i wish i was this good at world gen, the hardest thing for me to do, is the randomness of something, like a tree, i can only make a tree that appears the same every time, how do you get it to be so random! lol...
Jungle trees are my ultimate goal, to be able to make something like a jungle tree..

I made this map! Please check it out! It's a really awesome map that took me over a year to make! :3
The ruined cities mod uses almost-identical TML templates... I did a whole crapload of buildings for that, trying to put together a city. Never did finish, but...
The templates are in-thread, in text format, here. With screenshots. If anyone wants, they'd likely be pretty easy to shuffle over to the library here.
Failed to load mod_ruins.class....... I hate these errors. They always ruin the fun.
Got it fixed, I only read this threads first post about what is needed and didn't see the (requires forge) notice by the download link. I feel really dumb
So, the structures I linked to just above have been converted. They don't match the existing ruins very well, however - they're kind of a distinctive "set".
So, with permission from AtomicStryker, I've packaged them up separately here. If people using standard ruins want these templates, you can download and pile them in with your stuff. Just be aware that they'll be bit of a change of pace.

Awesome, the more the merrier!
I made templates for all of the vanilla village buildings for a Walled City, but they are Ruins-compatible. Actually they look better in Ruins, since there's a metadata rotation bug in Formivore's mods.
Next up, ruined versions!
i have and question or propose
is it real to do? the spawn with ruins the villagers?

Read the default file again on how to add chests, and also check out an existing template that has a chest

To find it, look for the brick remains of the surface entry and excavate it. This is easiest to find in plains or deserts.
The screenshots are intentionally vague =)

Alchemic Ash is my mod.
It's full of slime and furnaces and fireballs and magic gems and explosions and lightning.
