Thank you for this version sans Scuba Gear. I've nothing against it in particular, but I rather like to have to work harder to explore the ocean floor (and I like the randomness of finding coral strewn about that help you breathe instead).
On a side note, if you're taking requests or are interested in fleshing the mod out a bit, would you consider adding support for the Colored Lights Mod for your glowing corals please? This would make the ocean floors a bit more vibrant (and more fun to explore with Scuba Gear). I took a few screenshots to demonstrate:
This is an underwater shot with 5 different colors of light - pink, orange, light blue, purple & cyan, from left - nestled into a few reefs found outside my base.
This is the same area, above water, at night.
A large ocean with many light sources would probably be a hit on resources, but for those of us that play with smaller coral generation this wouldn't be so much of an issue (and from what I've tested with the mod, it's not the atrocious resource hog I feared it might have been). Would 'Colored Lights ON/OFF' be something that could be toggled in a config setting?

Anyhow, thanks for reading my request!
Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into adding support for the Colored Lights Mod - hadn't come across it before.
It's only been in a decently stable state the last week or so. It's been around since 1.6.4, but those releases (and the first couple for 1.7.x) were more like proof of concept for devs looking to use the API. So far (at least) Project: Red uses it natively, and I've been trying to get the word out where I think it'd be most attractive. I've been running it on my survival world with hundreds of light sources in my immediate area - I'm not getting massive lag like I thought I would. I greatly recommend it - it's gorgeous!
Hey there youngin! I am glad to see you are still updating this!
Cause you know.. I need the world beneath the waves to be pretty too! Now if I could just get Ted to give me back my oceans... LOL
The Colored Lights Mod suggestion is very good too by the way. I recommend.
Definitely want to add support for the Colored Light mod, but the way the author suggests looks like it would make it a dependency. (I don't want to have multiple versions of the Coral Reef mod). Still, I think I can figure out a way around this
Minecraft 1.8 is proving rather difficult to update Coral Reef for, but Forge is still under fairly active development, so I'll wait until a recommended build is available before I start putting a release together.

Hmm, well Botania adds Colored Lights compatibility and it's not a requirement. Perhaps asking Vazkii (or checking their code, not sure if it's open) could help you in implementing things? As much as I'd love for everything to have pretty colored lights, requiring a hard dependency would be silly (especially considering it's still got a share of important issues/bugs to iron out yet).
To follow up on my previous post on Colored Lights support: this post in the Metallurgy thread looked like something you could perhaps use to enable CLC support in Coral Reefs. Mind you I am no coder so this could be completely useless to you, but I thought I'd share just in case.

That is in fact rather helpful I wasn't aware FML included this. Thanks.
Basically, get the CLC loading in your development environment using Code-Chicken-Core, then add the colors bits to your lightvalues if you detect that CLC is loaded.
Please hop in IRC and ask questions, I'm more than willing to help walk someone though, and I need to do this again myself to get a decent set of instructions out there If you want to wait a bit while I write more instructions on how to get the latest version running, that works too!
Am I must missing it or are coral reefs NOT spawning in deep_ocean biomes? Kthanx
Is it a vanilla biome, or added by a mod? If I remember correctly, coral only generates in a certain range of height.
It's possibly to adjust some of the generation parameters by manually editing the config file for Coral Reef.
They're not documented however, so you might break something - I'll probably fix that for the next release for 1.7.10.
It is vanilla. I adjusted the bottom depth... we'll see. And a heads up, the mod is now on the official Norwescon server and you can see the mods description at its page on our site here.
I would put up the mods graphic banner but I can't find it.
I've also updated alternate textures made by various people.
(If you are the original author, I will take them down upon request.)

Lastly, if anyone is interested in helping to localize Coral Reef, please send me a message. Thanks!
I miss XCommands...

Will do! Although, I still consider the current 1.7.10 build 'in development'

CLC dependencies would work best as a soft dep, but I don't have amazing instructions at the moment.

Is the 1.7.10 going to be out soon? I understand that is has been a pain. Sorry for that.
