There is options to disable the bubbles and such. A in-game GUI exists too but it isn't necessary to edit them, tis a matter of preference.

You could try using entities for the coral instead of blocks.

Where can I find a bata 1.7.3 download for this mod? Nandonalt made that version but on that forum the dropbox link returns a 404 error.
