Would it be possible to have EMC-Values of Mod items calculated from their recipes, if all of the crafting components have an assigned value or can themselves be calculated? Adding everything to the Transmutation Table is unnecessary and would clutter the interface, but being able to at least use the burn slot or an AMR would be so helpful for recycling leftover pipes and other things that are crafted in batches.
That is completely possible, and actually the method Thaumcraft uses to figure out how much something can be condensed for. I actually like running both at the same time since they have much different implementations of magic.

There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.

After nailing down a few more major bugs, I'm going to be doing some work to make some of the backend stuff works better and integrates better with other things Lots of exciting things to come!
congrats man, i didnt know x3n0 took a brake, but either way im glad to see this mod continue. this, buildcraft, ic2, rp2, railcraft, and about 15 other large mods make my gaming possible so i thank you for keeping us all updated. cant wait to see what extras you throw in as you continue in x3no's absence
edit: change log states added forestry addon....does that mean forestry now works with this (might explain why foresty kept crashing on me last week)
Congrats on taking the mod, I just want to ask one thing about a bug with another mod. I am using better dungeons and the mobs seem to negat the red and dark matter armor I know u problem have more stuff to do, but I asked the creator of better dungeons and it's a issue with ee. Anyways thanks again for continuing the mod and best of luck to u
How is this wizardry possible??
Also has this bug been fixed yet?
Actually a fix isn't really enough. Basically there's just too many 1emc items to be able to make stone bricks (and possibly some other things) in the TT, and if it was fixed, you'd still not be able to make them (in the TT or in a condenser) if you don't already have at least one. This is why a higher level version of the condenser that gives a list of possible items to make would be greatly beneficial at some point in the future.
Anyhow, thanks for taking up the banner while x3n0 is having a break, Pahimar

It's good to know you'll be working hard to add in lots of bug fixes.
On a texture-related note, I've made a new Red Matter Katar texture. If you're interested, do let me know.
...
One more thing: Could you give End Stone an EMC value, please?
1.4.1.1 - Philosopher Stone now stays in the Crafting Grid after crafting after some help from Eloraam of RedPower2. This will let us have the old P. Stone recipes again!
Wait, does that mean you'll be reverting the P. Stone back to its old ways and removing the Tablet? :C But the old P. Stone method is so cumbersome, the Tablet is much fancier and more user-friendly, despite its bugs / overpowered factor.
I'm all for adding more P. Stone recipes to the fuel ones that are available right now, but I hope the Tablet isn't scrapped. That's a very ingenious idea that I'd hate to see removed.

I'm pretty sure there's no plan to scrap the awesome TT. One of the other reasons the p.stone recipes were done away with in favor of the TT is that it's a lot easier to reduce everything to EMC than it is to have to calculate a huge number of consistent transformations from item to item, including variations for between 1 and 9 items in the crafting grid.

I personally love the ID numbers. I dont know how its possible, but i have about 6 diifferent mods running, 4 of them very large including millenaire, EE2, Balkon's weapons mod, Explosives+, and apothecarium. However, i will delete one with out a doubt if needed so i can use this mod if the update adds any items/blocks, short of perhaps millenaire.
redpower most likley will not need any numbers changed in the config to make this work. im running about 20 mods right now and the only 2 ive ever had to change for conflicts with my bigger mods were railcraft and trees++

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” - Mahatma Gandhi
I was considering if there was any math we could use as a basis for adding IC2 Uranium back in and having it be balanced. I believe the most efficient conversion from EU to EMC is 833,333 EU to make 5 UU-Matter (assuming limitless Scrap with negligible cost), arranged in a plus sign to make 2 gold Ore. Maceration or RM Furnace gets you 8,192 EMC, for a ratio of 101.7252604 EU/EMC produced. The most efficient conversion from EMC to EU is 64 EMC Lava for 20,000 EU from a Geothermal Generator, with a ratio of 312.5 EU/EMC spent. This already provides an infinite loop of profit giving you back 3.072 times your investment. However, by the time a player has the infrastructure necessary for this, their Collectors will far exceed that output and they probably deserve that extra anyways.
Now the question is, should Uranium match that efficiency, be less profitable, or even more profitable? I believe IC2 currently has balance issues with Geothermal being God-Tier, and Solar a close second, leaving Nuclear as totally not worth the cost to build and maintain. Making Uranium renewable and more efficient/profitable than Lava would be a good way to balance it for players who mix mods.
Now, if we consider splitting Refined Uranium into 8 Near-Depleted Cells and run them through a Breeder Reactor (ignoring cost), assuming the hypothetical max Reactor efficiency of 5 (impossible to actually achieve), that's a theoretical upper-bound of 40,000,000 EU per Uranium, which can produce 393,216 EMC. I believe direwolf20 made a Mark-I or Mark-II reactor with efficiency 3, which is 24,000,000 EU or 235,929.6 EMC. If we use this as our baseline standard for Reactors and shoot for a return of about 5 times investment, we can price Uranium Ore at about 47,185.92 and round it up to 49,152 EMC or 6 Diamonds.
At this value, it takes exactly 5,000,000 EU to produce Uranium through UU-Matter and transmutation. This makes it impossible to break even without dividing and Breeding the Uranium. So as a compromise, make it worth 32,768 EMC or 4 Diamonds, so that one can break even and return a small profit by using EITHER a high-efficiency CASUC Reactor OR Breeding. The break-even point occurs at 3,333,333 EU produced per Uranium Ore. Players who build and design both deserve the extra profit. If these players exceed 10,240,000 EU produced per Uranium Ore, then it becomes more profitable than Transmuting Uranium into Lava. With hypothetical perfect reactors, you get back 12 times your investment. This seems relatively balanced across the whole spectrum of Nuclear Engineering, and is even further balanced because you have to commit to it and sink massive amounts of EMC into every single Reactor Cycle to get anywhere with it.
Edit: Unrelated: Was looking at change log. Forestry Bronze should be worth 128, not 256. Yes, it does require 3 Copper and 1 Tin, like IC2, but it produces 4 Bronze instead of 2. Also, depending on what the Ore Dictionary does affect, it might be impossible to avoid an exploit where you macerate Forestry Bronze and re-smelt it into more valuable IC2 Bronze.
This is why a higher level version of the condenser that gives a list of possible items to make would be greatly beneficial at some point in the future.
This.
I would suggest it has to be at least a tier 2 condenser or the current base one but will require the Alchemical Tomb to have access to the list function. I still like my original idea (buried somewhere in the original EE thread) of having the AT open the TT to this list, either via similar EMC value like what the TT does now but as a drop down/scrollable list, or maybe similar to NEI's drop down list that allows you to turn off and on items, or perhaps something new. I'll think about it and see if I can think of a way to have a decent list that isn't a horrible pain to find things. Although a search feature would be probably the best idea.

Hey guys, episode 4 of my Let's Play series is now posted! Rate, comment, subscribe... do whatever!
By the way, since most of the mods are in 1.2.3 now, I was thinking of porting over soon. Do you think I should continue in this world, start fresh in a 1.2.3 world, or do a mixture of the two? Let me know what you think!

Life sometimes hits people hard ... sometimes you do better getting back up again than not getting hit at all. -WayofTime
Dang, thanks for the heads up! By the way, when converting to the new save format, since all of the IDs change to different values are 1.1 worlds completely incompatable? If so, then converting will not be an option, and I will need to just make a new world.

'Sides. I got my cannons ready. (Hint: Ammo is trolls.)
Even if x3n0 doesn't ever want to take EE back- I hope he drops by once in awhile.

He's not gone, just taking a well deserved break. He'll be back
He probably coded so much his brain rebooted. Anyone who kept up with the updates would have noticed.
(Didn't he go through over 200 patches?)
I congratulate you on your current status, and wish you luck on the life consuming work of a modder :3

4 EMC would make sense. It's stone, but with a higher Blast Resistance.
Wonder what other Vanilla items don't have an EMC... Hmm... DRAGON EGG! ... Yeah, that'd be pointless.
