I will await a forge version then! I don't see why a lot of developer hates forge, Especially when it adds more Sprite IDs.
Also, I hope you fix the config file problem.
Forge is another API, which means dependency on another mod and another API to learn...difficult when the Mojang has not put a lot into communicating the future of the modding API very well... Also, bad press from the BTW camp, as well as poor documentation and communication from the Forge team has not helped. As with most mods, Forge is free and suffers from a shortage in resources at times.
Its not many developers that hate Forge--but, legions of fans who feel loyalty to one developer or another that hate it.
Mr. Fiber's chief concern was updating ExtraBiomes.
Forge provides lots of features, especially for users that include a lot of mods in their game. A mod like this that adds lots of blocks to the game can benefit greatly.
The main difficulty right now is finding a balance between advancing this mod (adding features for you) and learning the Forge API and recoding for it (you guys see nothing for a few weeks or months)
I know Mr. Fiber has great plans for this mod. I am grateful to be a part of his team and excited about all he has planned!
It doesn't seem to work for me - no crash, but no new biomes generate. I followed the directions in the readme.
Generate a new world in creative and just fly around for a while...if you still don't see anything interesting, report back with your world seed and we'll try and duplicate it.

So in the absence of your wonderfull mod I was playing around with this mod "wedge", anyway I decided to see if it would be compatible with ExtraBiomesXL and i'm happy to say that to a certain extent it is. It seems that most of the biomes will work up to a height of 256, with the exception of biomes that use the new blocks e.g red rock, wasteland (these will crash the game) but with a bit of messing around you can create some truely fantastic worlds that you can then use with ExtraBiomesXL on it's own.

Is there any way to prevent wedge from generating the custom blocks above a certain height, then? I dont know how this thing works.
Maybe it's just me but I can't seem to find any of the boimes, I installed it twice with a fresh minecraft.jar, maybe you can send me a link for a map or something.

Well, biomes are generated randomly based on your world seed, so there is no map. Try the same seed and make a world in creative mode and fly around to find biomes.
Obviously, if you follow the instructions, the mod works. If it doesn't work only for you, that does not indicate that something is wrong with the mod.

I noticed all of your mods, including wedge--the world gen. Please try this out with nothing else installed. then add back in your mods until you figure out which is not compatible.
BTW--this is a normal log file for a normal working game!

And by the way, the "Desert Mountains" or "Mountain Desert" biome (the one with the sand on top of the mountain), would be a "High Desert".

Try installing ONLY ModLoader and this mod and see if it works...
I think i found the problem when i install the mod with Mcpatcher the files that correlate it only use the modloader files not the ExratBiomesXL files
There's always a chance...but, if I may ask, don't you think that the two mods are redundant.
Also, I hope you fix the config file problem.
Its not many developers that hate Forge--but, legions of fans who feel loyalty to one developer or another that hate it.
Mr. Fiber's chief concern was updating ExtraBiomes.
Forge provides lots of features, especially for users that include a lot of mods in their game. A mod like this that adds lots of blocks to the game can benefit greatly.
The main difficulty right now is finding a balance between advancing this mod (adding features for you) and learning the Forge API and recoding for it (you guys see nothing for a few weeks or months)
I know Mr. Fiber has great plans for this mod. I am grateful to be a part of his team and excited about all he has planned!

Well, biomes are generated randomly based on your world seed, so there is no map. Try the same seed and make a world in creative mode and fly around to find biomes.
Obviously, if you follow the instructions, the mod works. If it doesn't work only for you, that does not indicate that something is wrong with the mod.

I noticed all of your mods, including wedge--the world gen. Please try this out with nothing else installed. then add back in your mods until you figure out which is not compatible.
BTW--this is a normal log file for a normal working game!
And by the way, the "Desert Mountains" or "Mountain Desert" biome (the one with the sand on top of the mountain), would be a "High Desert".
Just observing.
Anyway, you may already know what my thoughts are.
Hmmm... I can't speak for Mr. Fiber, but I don't have any idea how difficult this would be, except that many have tried and failed...
Also--you might try the Fossil / Archeology mod for shipwrecks...
