Would is be possible to add a feature to uniquely identify each villager ? Display a number above their heads or on their shirts, whatever would be helpful for me.
Or as an alternative, if you know about a mod which does that already, just let me know
However, as I told others before, I don't want to feature a single vid on the front post, because of the technical nature of this mod, and because I don't want to give preference to anybody.
Anyways, I made a spoilered list. I hope that's good enough for you ^^
Uh, I'm pretty sure it does have smp support. It's a client mod, like finder compass or rei's minimap only you need to download it. Or atleast it looks like it should be, because no one else will see YOUR debug screen.
Anyways, I tried to get rei's minimap AND this mod on, but it's not working. I installed both of them as instructed, and the other way around. When one is installed last, that one works and the other one doesn't show up. What do I do? (pm me, I might not go back to this thread)
In SMP, it will simply not show up. Reason is that all village calculations are done server-side. So SMP support would require an additional server mod to be installed.
As long as minecraft recognizes it as a village, the mod will detect it.
It doesn't seem to work in the end. Although (aside from going inside at night, because there is no night) the village mechanics appear to work there. Villagers will breed, and even spawn iron golems when there are enough of them:
I'll be going on vacation tomorrow for 2 weeks, so no update until then.
Thanks for letting me know.
No problem. Thank you for all the work you've done so far
Don't forget the nether, too. The mod didn't show a village there, even when I busted a hole through the bedrock ceiling. I didn't stick around long enough to see if the villagers will breed and spawn golems, but I imagine that if they'll do their thing in the end, they should also do it in the nether? (Provided, of course, you do bust through the bedrock ceiling first. Which makes it somewhat of a non-issue since that requires creative mode, which in turn means you have the spawn eggs available. But regardless, if the game recognizes it as a village then the mod ought to reflect that as well, yeah?)
[Edit: Well I did some more testing and villagers will breed and spawn golems in the nether, also.]
Hello I would like to say your mod is very helpful in determining if a village spawn an iron golem. Here I made a mod review for your mod. I hope you enjoy
Hm as pointed out before it is highly unlikely to be a mod issue as it doesnt generate its own data but grabs it from minecraft.
I think the problem with big villages is that after restart or walking far away, they are reset. Next time they will be regenerated from scratch. Depending on the door and villager positions as well as random factors, it may happen that mc first processes doors that are far apart from each other, resulting in 2 separate villages. Problem is that mc wont merge them when it finds the remaining doors. I dont think theres any practical way to prevent that.

If the villages' radii overlap, then they should be merged into a single village. Minecraft doesn't always handle this right away at first, and can still register them as two separate villages, but simply quitting and reloading the world causes it to reevaluate the positions of everything and has always, in my experience, caused it to be shown as a single large village rather than the two smaller ones.
my village keeps getting cut into two seperate villages according to it
EDIT: It's not spaced out at all really, no large gaps between houses or anything like that to cause a split
How many villagers do you have, and where are they positioned? And just how big is the village? Remember that a door is not a "house" without a nearby villager, so if they're all clustered in the far ends of your village, then the houses in the middle might not be counting, and that could be what's causing the ends to be registered as separate villages. Can you provide screenshots or a world download we could have a look at?

Very true
Just updated the mod. Nether village generation seems to be a bit sluggish though. I had to place some blocks on the bedrock roof to get it to work. I imagine it's because of the lighting / heightmap generation which affects the house condition.
Good idea.
Did you delete the meta inf folder?

Good luck with your channel, seems promising =)

I'm excited about this mod and took a chance and tried it on 1.4 but no luck. Any chance you are working on an update for 1.4? Looking forward to it.
I was just coming here to find out the same thing
