I love the idea behind this mod. It makes it feel more like Terraria to a point. I do have a question about it, and that is how good, compared to the vanilla tools and armor, are the Meteorite tools and armor?

They are better than Diamond but have less uses than Diamond, but the real great part of their functionality is the magnetic ability of the tools and armor. With a tool in hand or wearing any armor, certain items come to you when you mine them. This is especially great when you have a diamond ore block over a pit of lava. You mine that block and the diamond flies toward you rather than down into the lava. I am making a slight modification in the next update with the crafting of the tools. To keep it realistic, instead of sticks in the crafting recipe it will be iron ingots. I can make this optional if people want me to though.

I think iron ingots sounds perfect given the magnetic properties.
this is one of the best meteor mods I've seen so far. better than the average THE METEOR COMS AND JOO GET DIAMONDS! post some pictures of the alien creeper it sounds cool! also, if you don't already have some way of showing a meteor land other than it just spawns, try making a new entity for fallingmeteor! an entity could go diagonal or horizontal, can have an epicer shape than just a block, and glow like spider eyes! also recent crash sites should have fire! fire makes almost everything better! . . .and toasty.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
LOLOLOL = LAUGH-OUT-LOUD-OUT-LOUD-OUT-LOUD...it just doesn't work...

The meteor is an entity when it falls, but I could probably create some sort of test entity for determining where a crash site is. There should already be fires randomly generating within the crash site. If you check out the model of the falling meteor, you'll see it isn't an ordinary block falling from the sky. It's hard to see because it falls so fast I guess.
The Mod has been updated to version 2.1. This version fixes a couple bugs as well as adds a cool Meteor Summoner. I've also included a configuration file so you can control how rare a meteor crash is. Hope you guys enjoy it! :biggrin.gif: Please let me know if you find anymore bugs.
I want to thank iampeppino for making a great video demonstrating the many features of this mod, but if you still want to make a video of my mod feel free to. If it's good, I'll add it to the thread.
YOU JUST DIE IF I TOUCH OR IF I AM NER A METEOR I JUST DIIEEE !!!! FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU AND DONT GET YOUR F**KING ITEMS BACK !!
You are using an old version then. The old version had that bug where you get trapped in a meteorite block. I originally wanted the meteorite ore blocks to be ultra hot on touch, but that has since been fixed.
Playing with it now and it is a nice touch but I do have a few suggestions:
1. Meteors need to be far rarer, no sooner had I finished mining one than another appeared. An option to set the rarity would be nice, for instance if you wanted to simulate a prehistoric earth or something (yes I am also running a dino mod right now...) then it would want to be more common, but for normal use it should be rarer.
2. Balance the power of meteor tools and armour. Given how easy the material is to come by the armour and tools are just too powerful, iron has lost a great deal of worth with this mod installed. Perhaps to craft using the material you should have to build a special crafting table that requires diamond or obsidian?
3. The warnings of nearby collisions are good but I think these should only be applicable once you have crafted some manner of meteor detector, so you can't easily find meteors right away.
4. The meteor shield should either be variable in the size of the area it protects or just smaller fullstop.
5. Given that the alien creepers can kill you pretty easily without armour they should have a worthwhile drop. Perhaps a more powerful form of gunpowder which can be crafted to create TNT with a larger blast radius.
I completely agree with you. I'm trying to develop some ways of balancing out the power and rarity ratio here. The rarity of a meteor can already be adjusted in the configuration file. I am considering reducing how much meteorite ore is available after a meteor crashes and make it to where once the meteorite ore is completely cooled, you can't get anything from it. I'm still figuring out ways of tracking down meteor crashes with a detector of some sort. That is in the planning stages though.
Looks like this mod turned out well :biggrin.gif:
And sure, I'll do the meteor texture, but I'm really busy lately and I don't know when I'll be able to get it to you :tongue.gif:
I know that you probably cant do this seeing as its minecraft but when you power up a Meteor Shield maybe it would send out a pillar of green light and light up a shied type shape around the protected area and the meteors could maybe just bounce of it?
Ha! I really wish this was possible lol. I sort of had that envisioned in my mind when I was making it.
Also, on a sidenote. The next update will include some bugfixes for balancing the mod. Other than that, I need your ideas! Tell me what you want for this mod in its next update. All you minecrafters have to have some ideas I know it.
Hey bro, I really love the Mod, here's a quick tutorial video and how to install it. It also shows a little bit of the mod so I guess its kinda a spotlight, too. Keep up the good work. :]

K, thanks. I'll add it under installation instructions. :biggrin.gif:
The mod has been updated to 2.2. Major changes include: Meteor Shields now can be adjusted on how strong they are, Meteor Blocks are now flammable, Meteor block drops modified to be more rare (when they are completely cool, you cannot get any chips), and Meteor crash rarity adjusted. Please delete your old Meteors.cfg file in your .minecraft folder to get the new adjusted default rarity. Please give me your feedback on this update and as always, if there are any bugs, let me know.
If anyone has any ideas for the next update which will probably be with the next Minecraft update, please let me know. All ideas are welcome, appreciated, and sometimes implemented. :biggrin.gif:
