I started working on a newly updated version today. I thought Jeb would release a new update for MC by now, but I guess not. Expect a new update possibly sometime this weekend for my mod.
I really don't like being a tool but if there was a way to make it not a forge based mod they don't work for my computer and i would love to play it
I have no idea why Forge wouldn't work with your computer, but Forge makes this mod practically compatible with every mod. If it wasn't for forge, I would have to modify a lot more base class files to get what needs to be done. In the next update, this mod will be 98% compatible with all mods.
The tools and armor basically attract certain drops of blocks to come toward you when they spawn. So everything from cobble to diamond will come fly toward you rather than just drop to the ground. Remember though that this works only on certain blocks. Blocks like dirt won't come toward you.
OH! That makes sense, I was wondering why things like that happened without my magnet mode on. o.O Good work on that, it's very subtle. Is it the tools that do it/do they need to be equipped?

Having a Meteorite tool in your hand or wearing any meteorite armor will give you that magnetic affect.
The mod has been updated to version 2.3. Not much has been added. Mostly just adjustments to further enhance the mod to its full balanced potential. Some groundwork was also made for future plans on what I want to do with the mod. I've also begun exploring the possibility of adding SMP support to it. More info possibly on that soon.
Also, please note the poll at the top. While adding support and making bugfixes is great, I'm sure you all are ready for something new so please choose one of the ideas in the poll and I'll add that in the next update, which will probably be in MC 1.2 (or whatever the version will be).

Just wanted to let you guys know that this will be updated once the new version of MCP has come out. ModLoader and Forge will obviously also needed to be updated too before this can be updated. I will continue working on the new update from version 1.1. The update is coming along quite nicely. Things to expect: TWO new types of Meteors, two new sets of armor, a new sword (possibly bow and arrow), a COOL new ability, and new resources with some special treats and perks that come along with those. The new meteor types will bring in some crazy new stuff. One will cool you down and the other will literally open up the pit of hell. I've included my Structure Building API to sort of bring some cool functionality to meteors when they crash, so expect some awesome future updates with that. Tis all for now.
A great mod, but not one that I would use. An idea, a meteor bow that used meteor arrows? And they would make small explosions when used together?
EDIT: Just saw your latest comment, so I have a new idea. Hot meteorite should burn you if you are on it, and there should be space slimes. That like, gave you radiation poison or something.

The mod has been updated to 1.2.3 with two new Meteor Types with new armors, abilities, and a new Fire-like sword that sets mobs on fire. I don't yet have time to do a full thread update but the mod is updated. You need to use the latest version of Forge for now since the Recommended is still in 1.1. Any bugs or anything, please let me know.
Three words: BEST MOD EVER. I'm glad you implemented the meteor shield otherwise my house would be destroyed. One thing you need to do: Make there be 0-1 meteors fall per chunk because otherwise after awhile all of Minecraft would become a massive meteor crater down to bedrock except for the spots you meteor-shielded. PAY ATTENTION TO THIS MESSAGE, AlexDGr8r!!!!!
Awesome mod. I have some suggestions. For cooled meteor blocks, could you have like a 25% chance to drope a chip? It gets really frustrationg when I can only harvest a quarter of the meteor while being awarded. I don't feel like mining all of the blocks that I don't get anything for.
Also, if you make Frezarite tools, for a special feature, you could have them "freeze" the current block you're destroying. Kind of like the silk touch enchantment. So if you're mining stone, you get stone and not cobblestone.
Surviving with this mod is really hard (expecially in my jungle, it burned half of the forest down O.O). At night there are falling like 3-5 of these meteors and now I've got massive craters everywhere and some really hard removable obsidian portals. I just can't get a meteor shield early enough in the game to protect myself from these meteors. It would be really great if you could configure the spawnrate of the meteors spawning, although a very less chance for nether portals would be nice. Hopefully my treehouse won't burn down until sunrise. ^^
But it's a good mod though, just needs some tweaking for survival.

This is a feature, not a bug. The idea is that this meteor really opens the pits of Hell/Nether itself. This also has started my brain to create even cooler things when a meteor crashes, like let's say a UFO or something. I am considering adding something like this in a future update.

It is similar to Terraria yes. But does Terraria have Meteor Shields and Alien Creepers? I think not lol.

A double resolution texture pack that stays faithful to the original Minecraft textures.
