okay, all out, heres what i would have done:
Works like redstone, but doesn't connect up (but still connects to pistons, tnt, pressure plates, etc. The logic behind this is that it still makes redstone current flow through, but doesn't connect to redstone-dust-block-thing.).
Either infinitely carries out redstone or up to like 40 blocks or something instead for 15.
glows half the amount (?) that glowstone does, but only when powered.
basically most other things you mentioned.

also on a side note (without editing my post that you can see i just quoted), i just want more Nether stuff, because the Nether needs to be better and have more stuff. thats kinda what is inspiring me to start making mods for Minecraft (but i dont have the time T____T). To sum it all up, Nether needs to be a place you WANT to go to. Whats that i hear you say? You say what about Ghast Tears and Nether Warts and so many other things? Yes, but not THAT kind of want. It should like the next tier, the next stage in Minecraft after you find diamonds and other things. That why my first mods will be like this one, maybe the next one will be Nether-ized Animals such as "Mad Cows" (from Mad Cow Disiease) and "Demon Chickens" (from Fable III). Just lots of stuff i hope to make.
I think it's a bit off that you would extend sub-atomic physics to the Minecraft world like that, but then forgo the simple fact that redstone itself must have some other property as it could not hold a charge as it does legitimately. Also, where do the photons in the glowdust come from anyways?
But really, I'm not here to discuss that. I just wanted to note that there's a teeny bit of first-glance confusion over what exactly your mod does.
Hmm legitamacy in minecraft, ill see if that it is possible( other than the way you play) , and on a side note, who made your sig? i like the design
Suddenly my interest is piqued again. I'll keep my eye on the mod. Do you possibly have anything in mind with lapiz, maybe? You could have a purple dust with special properties of some sort.
Most likely. I'd like to give more worth to undervalued items like lapis, and it seems to be a good idea to use it as a wire.
You could just call it the wire mod if you decide to make orange and gunpwder. that at the same time you could make other wires like you said something about sugar....maybe it atracts animals so you can lead them to spcific directions instead of trying to lead them around corners with wheat and other forms of dust and wires. all in all though i really like the mod.
sorry for my spelling, btw.
Problem is I'll have to edit the mob AI for that - which means it will need to edit base classes. Another problem is that the mobs can follow the line in two ways, and what if you made a crossroad with the sugar?

The reason there's a limit of 15 blocks is because:
1. To reduce the amount of redstone being calculated in a single tick.
2. Metadata only fits 16 items.
Also, glowstone wire glows more then half of glowstone, 10 blocks in fact.
I want glowstone EVERYTHING! Repeaters, torches (Can be placed upside down), glowstone TNT, glowstone lamps, glowstone levers, glowstone tripwire, glowstone buttons, and finally GLOWSTONE PRESSURE PLATES! I do not know why i did that in all caps...
Great idea, if only he added ours...
My brother has convinced me to add torches as an aesthetic display. Should glowstone wire point to it or ignore it?
Repeaters can be aesthetically used too, but I'll need to thing about it.
Glowstone tripwire would basically be useless as tripwire since it's not hidden from sight, but would be aesthetically pleasing.
TNT = Erm...
Lamps = Glowstone block.
Levers = not much use?
Buttons = not much use either?
Pressure plates = even less use? And would it act like a stone pressure plate or wood?
Do you think you could make it so we can place it on wall's?
I do also have an idea for you though, maybe if you connect glowstone to a redstone lamp it turns off until the redstone lamp is powered or something along those line's, I'm too tired to go too in depth right now.
Great mod by the way! ;D
it would be nice if you made it so it can go up walls
Walls. Hard. Ouchy. Because metadata is stuck with redstone power (although only 0 is used)
I can try.
For the glowstone wire turns off thing I'm not sure I agree.
Orangestone Dust should:
Connect between Glowstone Dust and Redstone Dust
Light up at light level 10 when powered
Do all things Glowstone Dust and Redstone Dust do
Glowstone dust doesn't do anything but glow, so redstone wouldn't be of use connected to it.
Glowstone wire already glows at level 10, orangestone logically should be darker. (But this is minecraft, so...)
Third point is what I'm aiming for.

Please help! I REALLY love this mod, but I don't want MC to crash on startup.
Just tested it and it works perfectly with TMI! However, the glowstone wire block is not listed by TMI (which is fine, you place it using glowstone dust anyway :P). Here is what you should do:
1. Make sure your minecraft.jar is vanilla 1.3.1.
2. Open up minecraft.jar and delete the META-INF folder.
3. Open up ModLoader (make sure its for 1.3.1!!!) and copy all the files to the minecraft.jar.
4. Open up TooManyItems (make sure its for 1.3.1 again!) and copy all the files to minecraft.jar.
5. If you haven't already, make a mods folder in %APPDATA%\.minecraft\ .
6. Copy/Move the Glowstone Wire mod build 107 for ModLoader to the mods folder.
This should fix your problem! Happy minecrafting!
Yay I Just Made A Mod Review Video Of This Great Mod
Pretty good review! However, you can improve by reducing the 'snappiness' of the movement of the camera. For now I'll add it to my list of reviews, if you make a better version tell me so I can change the video!
No worries. I downloaded the wrong version. I thought that the link that said only client was
compatible with modloader, but it turns out you need the modloader client link. Thanks anyway for replying though s for you .
So is the only thing this does is glow?
Any other purposes?
Currently all the changes are purely aesthetic. I'm figuring out how to best approach orangestone, and how to make it compatible with raw users (no dependencies). However, if a way shows up for ModLoader I'll release it first. The problem is I'm figuring out how to add custom textures WITHOUT ModLoader and without editing terrain.png.
I'm trying to give more use to vanilla items, so lapis might be one of the materials for another wire.
So I got it installed on both my client and server but when i try and place the wire it doesn't show up on the ground. The glow effect happens for a fraction of a second but the wire never appears. Anyone know a solution?
Side note please please make a wire that works just like redstone but doesn't interact with it so you can make side by side wiring. I saw other people mention it and have been wishing for a mod that would do that for ages. Would make redstone circuits many times smaller and less complicated. You would need repeaters torches etc for the 2nd wire as well.

That's most likely the server protection system. All Minecraft Servers have a spawn area protection, so you can't place blocks in that area unless you're an op. The other possible reason is that the server is still vanilla and not properly modded.

That's already in progress. The problem is adding custom textures and item/block names in the no-dependency versions.
Forge is out, when are we going to get the Forge version?
I've been working on a Forge version since the 11th of August. Forge has completely changed and I'm relearning it as fast as possible. No javadocs have been provided yet (as far as I know) and with the new annotation methods it's like learning to fly when you're used to walking. So far the progress is that the glowstone wire completely refuses to render properly and is stuck as a plus sign (and doesn't even render on the sides of blocks when it's supposed to!).
hello, I've got a problem.
Installed modloader (the latest) and your mod, in the mods folder ( ml version, of course) and got this errorcode:

can you fix that or say, how I can fix that?
That's weird. I just tried your setup and it worked fine for me. Are you sure you're using the 1.3.2 version of Glowstone Wire? The 1.3.1 version does NOT work with 1.3.2, although it can connect to a 1.3.2 server.
yes, I'm absolutly sure, I'm using the version for 1.3.2
Don't know why, but I don't can use it even if I'm only installed modloader, tmi and the mod. bad ****, I really like the idea of the mod
Please tell me the next time you're running extra mods. The log file said you were only using one (which I assumed was glowstone wire).
Are you absolutely sure you have the latest versions for ModLoader and Glowstone Wire? Use the 1.3.2 version of TMI.
Follow these steps:
1. Make sure your minecraft.jar is absolutely clean and brand new by using Options > Force Update when logging into the game.
2. Open minecraft.jar and delete META-INF.
3. Open ModLoader and drag all the files into minecraft.jar.
4. Open TMI and drag all the files into minecraft.jar. Don't just copy the zip to the mods folder.
5. Go to your mods folder and copy/move the Glowstone Wire zip there. Don't drag all the files into minecraft.jar.
That should work. If it doesn't I'm pretty sure you're using the wrong version of one of the mods.

Build 106 - Forge ONLY OR Modloader + ModloaderMP combination
Blocky writing woohoo!

I hope someone reads this and makes a "More Potions" mod.
Completely compatible with 1.3.1!
No problem. Happy gaming!
That's going to be hard, but I'll definitely try!
No, why do you want a config file? Block ID would be a problem if everyone edited it, as the server would crash the players with the wrong block IDs.
