Im a fan of both buildcraft and better than wolves, so when I found out that there was a possible merging of both mods, I was stoked :). What sucks is that BTB is coded for 1.2.3, so when can we expect to see this mod updated to 1.2.4?

Ummm...dude...you may have noticed that BuildCraft isn't updated to 1.2.4.
Every time someone asks a question I've just answered a few hours before, I kill a puppy. I really didn't want to kill that puppy with its big round eyes and its floppy ears, but you made me do it. It wined and it begged as I choked the life out of its tiny little body, clinging so bravely to the life that it had only begun to experience, and all I could tell it was that I had no choice...that it was the bad man's fault.
I do not thing you understand what this mod is. It is NOT in ANY way a modpack. It is a compatibility patch that allows you to both play BTW and BC together AND to have the tech trees combined together into ONE HUGE tech tree.
Ok, I was reading on this site http://minecraftbuildcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Tutorials/Mining_Pipe_Farm and it says that the mining pipe left behind from mining wells is "extremely useful". I'm going to be 100% honest... I don't see it. What on earth could mining pipe be so good for as to need to make a farm of it?

Aesthetics. Especially if you have a texture pack that makes them not orange. Building frameworks, catwalks, and the like out of it makes your machines and structures look more industrial.
As for actual use: You can speed up the initial setup of your quarries with them. That period where it's spending energy to place pipes around the area? If there are already pipes present it will skip to making the arm. So you can pre-build your mining frame before you turn on your quarry and save yourself time and oil.
so it doesn't matter that all the mining pipes point upwards, the laser that creates the scaffold for the quarry will just use those instead of creating more?

Crap, I thought the mining pipe and the scaffolding were the same.
You can't mine the scaffold pipes? Then how do I have a chest full of the things? Maybe you are using the wrong tool? Or maybe things have changed since I last BTB'ed.
I used my own custom texture pack made by mixing a few out there. The BTB textures were one of the ones posted here a while ago, but I altered the scaffold pipes to look better myself.
This is better THEN most mods i have used p.s. steve rules
I just have to ask (because I am arguing with myself over this right now), did you know that the word "then" is not used properly in that sentence and then used it as a joke to how others fail at grammar, or did you fail thinking that you used "than" which is used for comparisons. Like I said, I am fighting myself on this one, and just need to know.
and there is the automatic crafting table... but what about an automatic crafting anvil?
It is was on the list of things to think about for FC, and I assume the Gil wants something like this to be implemented as well, although it will happen after the next BTW release because of the HUGE change FC has planned.
a way to transfer lava from the nether to overworld would be appreciated too. i have a huge lava farm in the nether and a massive need to get it to the overworld faster than buckets allow. maybe a barrel item that can hold 5-10 buckets of liquid per barrel? That would be cool.
Minecraft Forge is NOT required to be installed for this mod to function (installing it separately will actually interfere with the proper functioning of this mod). However, the current release of BTB contains several Forge files.
So I cant install this with industrialcraft 2?
If not I would love for this to happen but if the Forge files makes this mod not function, how would you get these two working together?
new at moding, been working with textures only so far

It doesn't work with any forge mods, includeing industrialcraft2. You can't make them work together.

you just killed a puppy.
Luckily, I have an ample supply on hand.

And anyone know a way to transport lava from the nether to the overworld without using buckets?
even a mod would be fine
