Can anyone help explain a problem I am having? I've got my auto tree farm almost complete. I'm at the debug phase for the most part. I'm trying to get the sapling planter BD working. The problem is that when I connect redstone to it the stick piston for making the gravel tower activates and then it doesn't deactivate even after removing the redstone. I have to break it to fix it. The redstone isn't even going to the piston, it is sitting two blocks above it so I can't get power to my BD without the system breaking.
It's not so much a GUI system. It's the MJ system that needs to be redone.
Example. Two redstone engines provide a single Mj each.. Yet they can run a farm from forestry which requires a minimum input of 5 MJ.
They can do it because the farm stores the energy until it has enough to run.
That's not documented anywhere. It's common knowledge and documented that machines can store energy but there's nothing written saying that a weak engine can still power higher tier machines because it stores that machines capacitors.
The idea is simply that different objects require different energy per tick of operation. If you don't supply enough during one tick, it simply delays until it has received enough energy. It doesn't really need to be documented anywhere if everyone knows about it. Most things in the mod must be discovered for yourself anyway unless you want to pay for the guide (which I hear is out of date anyway). I don't see what the problem is.
Sorry for such a dumb question guys, but I can't seem to figure out how to pull fluids out of a Tank. I've never played BTW or BC before. I've got tanks full of lava but I don't know what to do with them. I want to use them as fuel. I've tried attaching various pipes and engines and pumps to them, but I can't pull anything out. Thanks!
Have you tried using a waterproof extraction (wood) pipe? I believe the only way to draw anything out of a tank is either buckets or the wood pipe (which must be powered by an engine of course).
>Have you tried using a waterproof extraction (wood) pipe?
I have, I just can't get them to do anything using any engine.
EDIT: Also, how do diamond pipes work? Am I supposed to be able to use a wrench to cycle the yellow block on them to different colors that represent the filter? Or do the filter colors represent different pipes? Am I supposed to use pigment to color pipes somehow?
Nevermind, figured out the diamond pipes.
Still can't figure out the tanks though :smile.gif:
Hmm odd. I haven't actually used any pumps or tanks yet but that's how I understand them to work so perhaps there is a bug?
you have to make sure the wooden pipe is connected to another pipeline, once that's set up, make sure you have a (preferably) redstone engine pushing power into that wooden pipe. (make sure the axel is going into the back (flat-end) of the redstone engine). Voila
Is anyone else having issues when trying to use Logistics Pipes (and Additional Pipes)? I've got a logistics system I'm working on that will automatically take hemp from the hoppers in my auto hemp farm, as well as leather from my livestock breeder, and send it to my primary mill. I'm making sure I use basic logistics pipes at intersections and that my teleport pipes are all on the same frequency, as well as set to receive items.
The items requested from hoppers don't seem to know where to go, half of the time, and just get dropped as soon as they leave a logistics pipe. Pictures below so people can help me figure this out. I understand I may be better off asking the Logistics Pipe community, but I didn't want to have to make a screen name over at BC Forum.
Here's the setup coming from my dung/livestock farm.
These are the settings for my provider pipe. I know I could just have left it empty and all items would be provided, but I wanted to explicitly set it so I could make sure things weren't getting screwed up there.
The settings for my departing Teleport pipe. Yes, it does seem to work better when set to receiving on.
My stew-pot array, which each has a dedicated purpose. The center one receives dung and scoured leather from the farm and mill hoppers, respectively. The one on the left is supposed to receive raw beef directly from the farm hoppers. Settings for the provider to that stew-pot are solid.
It should work, right? Here's what happens when I put 10 raw beef into the farm hopper, and the provider on my stew-pot requests them.
They aren't staying in the pipe system, as if the logistics network doesn't see the connections provided by the tele pipe. Maybe I'm doing something silly, which is entirely possible, because I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to logistics pipes, or anything BC related.
Thanks
EDIT: Other requests through the system seem to get routed just fine. For instance, hemp has been regularly flowing through the system to my mill since I first set it up.
ALSO EDIT: It seems like Logistics Pipes is entirely bugged from top to bottom. I randomly get the saving chunks crash when I load my world, now. Shame, really. I had hoped to demo this system on my next LP episode. :/
FINAL EDIT: It seems that having too many tele pipes on the same frequency makes it hard for the logistics network to figure out the proper route, which results in the dropped items. Splitting up the various parts of the network across a couple other frequencies seemed to fix the issues I was having.

I discovered that this is apparently a known bug... that is more than 8 months old... ~_~ Those guys at Mojang sure are on top of things...
Luckily I should have enough room to put it on the other side of the sapling where it hopefully won't interfere with anything else. I'll soon have plenty of fuel for running my steam engines and I can move on to a cow farm for getting all the leather I need to make enough engines to begin the process of gathering oil.
Is there any way to automate the function of a furnace? For example, can I somehow pump cobble into a furnace and then pump out smooth stone into a chest?

You can do that with pipes. The top side fills the top slot, the bottom will fill the fuel, and the sides allow you to extract the result.
You can overheat a woody, easiest way is with another engine...the only way to cool them is to turn them off.
NOW that said a wooden engine on its own may not self-destruct because in the overheat stage (flashing red/yellow-orange) the engine looses efficiency, and slows down.
So it may not blow but it will go slow. And it may not speed up until you turn it off a second.
Edit: well apparently they overheat even when they have work to do...
Flowerchild, can you add the ability to melt down our wrenches in a crucible?

Playing since Beta 1.3_01. Yeah. I like BTW. Or used to. Still do. Stuff Technic. (Back in the day...)

Nope, I've used them extensively. They're working fine.
Just a shot in the dark, but that's probably because....
Now that you're playing BC with a tech tree, you need to git yo'self some steel first.
Oh, and an anvil, which coincidentally also requires steel.

Is it possible to transfer power into a gearbox with steam or combustion engines? If it is, I can't seem to figure out how.

So I can't create a hydroelectric dam and get electricity from water, or make a wind farm? D:
Sure you can, but it won't do anything useful :smile.gif:
