Most long distance pipelines are done with an additional mod, which has a chunkloader block - otherwise as you've said, the chunks unload and nothing happens in them.
The...Vanilla BTB way (saying that feels weird somehow) would probably be best done using additional liquid tanks and wood engines at intervals along the pipeline, so as much oil will travel as far as it can within the loaded chunks at any given time.
Thank you for the confirmation on this. I'm not too much into the BC scene, this is the only time I've ever used BC so much (in previous worlds and previous Minecraft versions, I only ever used just the base pipes).
Do you have any suggestions for additional mods that contain a chunkloader block and would be useful for something of this nature? And also, if I were to do it in a "Vanilla BTB" way, you're saying that basically nodes would be beneficial, in the sense of spots along the way with tanks. But wouldn't that just mean I'd have to still stay in distance of the actual geyser in order to get any oil at all?
It's quite a conundrum, and I may be forced to use an additional mod, whether it to use an additional pipe to make distance easier, or to just use the cunkloader block. I wanted to stay as Vanilla BTB (you're right, it sounds weird to say it) as I possibly could, to give it a rather difficult and resource intensive design to it. So I think if I can just find a chunkloader block, that in and of itself would help me tremendously, then I could just put the block every so many blocks to keep the pipes loaded, and the geyser as well. I feel like this may cause a performance hit, but I think I could live with it.
This would be the mod you're looking for. It also has a bunch of other cool stuff, but I haven't used it myself so I can't really tell you too much about it. It comes highly recommended though.
Awesome, that chunkloader block will work perfectly. I need to figure out if you just put one block in the world or if you have to put one in each "chunk" that you want loaded, but that's what experimentation is for.
Also, those other pipes are relly tempting to use, that even distribution one is something I'm looking into for my Wheat farm to put seeds in each BD. And that advanced wooden pipe will make it simple to pull out just the seeds from my chest. Though i'm still debating whether to use it, since I wanted to have a challenge, but who knows. I may even use the teleport pipes lol
Thanks for the link and help, I appreciate it and it's exactly what I needed.
you might wannah try "Better THAN Buildcraft"

Stop treating mod devs poorly. These people mod as a hobby or as a service to the community, they don't have to take your suggestion and you are not entitled to anything from them.
Just wanted to put up a quick note that I just put out a new release of Better Than Wolves (version 3.49) that fixes the problem with Pipes sucking the filters out of Hoppers (amongst other things), in case any BTB players were waiting on that one.
Perhaps it'll be useful to remind you that everything has to be version 1.0. It took me a bit of digging to find everything in the right version.
What I had to learn is what "[X.X] Yadda Yadda [V x.xx UPD: 50% Likely tomorrow]" meant. That's not self explanatory when modders label their versions closely with vanilla's versions. But once you know, all is rainbowie.
FC, i'm just wondering if you realize that due to BTB, there's now an unofficial race spectated by thousands between you and spacetoad everytime a new minecraft update comes out? (if you wanna make some $$, i can put bets on for you in the underground MCF casino)
edit: oh btw, you lost the first round XDon a sidenote... how freakin good is this mod... it even has real life idiot traps!! name another mod that bridges the gap between farming creepers and farming creeps?
i don't know if anyone else noticed but when u obtain a bucket of water, it wont work with the crafting recipe of the cauldron, but when you use toomanyitems and select the vanilla water bucket(the infinite water version) it works. is this a bug? or did i install it wrong?, (please excuse me if this was for-mentioned; i don't like reading 64 pages of posted comments :tongue.gif:)

Honestly, anyone who runs mods should know that updates are always something that'll have to wait on the modders. Considering the size and scope of BTW/BC/BTB, why would anyone care about the 3 changes that Mojang releases with each patch anyway? I'd rather have the dozens of things BTB offers than some new baked good or half thought-out addition. It is more effort to reinstall the mod than it is worth.

ya no kidding, this mod keeps u busy for hours, i think the ultimate goal that you can accomplish from this mod is unlimited resources, and even when you accomplish that you are still encouraged to play around with machines creating impossible contraptions, building mansions and villages, literally this mod is the best thing that happened to minecraft, one might even say that, this is how minecraft was supposed to look like from the beginning
I just made 3 cauldrons, and one bucket was from pre-mod installation, one I filled from a lake (source block) and then I used the empty bucket and found that I could fill it from non-source water and used that. Of course as far as I know a bucket of water only has one ID tied to it so I wouldn't think that old or new bucket or where the water was taken from would have any effect, but IF it did I think I 'accidentally' covered most of the scenarios.
And if it was a poor install, I would think you'd have more problems.

Well, no one has reported a bug of this kind, and it works fine in my own game, so I can only assume something has gone wrong over time in your .jar.
My advice would be to start again with a clean .jar and install everything over. You may have a remnant of an old mod in there or something that is causing things to go wonky.
Also, I find it a little strange that you have the infinite water-buckets available in TMI since the Hardcore Buckets directly replace them. I'm not sure exactly how TMI works internally, but they really shouldn't be accessible through any means.
Wow. You're an observant one
Yeah, I talked to SpaceToad about the hook for not depleting water when pumped for HCB, and as illustrated, he was receptive to it

I do stuff.

I hope that, that was meant to be JK.
With sheer willpower and the ability to consult a readme.
There is also an install guide linked in the OP for those observant enough to find it.
I install it quite well, thank you for asking. I apologize for confusing you.
But all being a jerk aside... Now you know
