Love the swords+ mod and the diff power and duribility but can the one w/ the ender eye (4got its name) have more duribility???
I'd rather not. Because the Ayin Blade is powerful enough to kill any mob (except the Ender Dragon) in one hit, I wanted to give it some severe restraints to prevent abuse. Besides, so long as you have 5.5 hearts or more, you can sacrifice 5 of them to fully restore the blade's durability. Just right click.
For those wondering why I chose 10 specifically, it's for a few reasons:
- It's twice the amount necessary to kill the Ender Dragon (its vanilla health is 100 hearts)
- It's equivalent to half the player's max life
- It's enough to get you out of a pinch if mobs are overwhelming you.
- I think it's a fair value to prevent the sword from being overwhelmingly powerful in PvP/multi (whenever the SMP version gets done, if ever)
Nice, I really like the Swords+ mod. It's good to see original ideas for a change :laugh.gif:
I'm definitely bookmarking this, don't wanna miss any update :biggrin.gif:
I was thinking, maybe you could add some sort of "Upgrading table"? It would have a spot for the sword, three for the items you require to upgrade said sword, and one for the Upgraded Sword. Something like this:
"?": Required items
"?": Upgraded Sword
The outcome would be, (predictably) an upgraded sword. For example, the Calibur Blade, when upgraded, would become the Calibur Blade lvl 2, which would have increased stats. So, instead of dealing 7 hearts of damage it would deal 7.5 and have a durability of 20 hits. However, you could only upgrade swords two or three times so they don't become overpowered :smile.gif:
Also,
That sounds pretty neat!
Glad you like my mod! :smile.gif:
I already have plans for something similar to this. I'm calling it a "Mystical Forge" for the moment. Should be implementing by Swords+ 1.2.

Forgot to add a line about deleting META-INF to the install instructions. Fixed that.
Also, I forgot to mention that none of the swords in Swords+ will ever be enchantable via the Enchantment Table. I don't think I'll add that to the OP. It can be 1.0's pseudo-"Seecret Update" :tongue.gif:
Oh, and apparently any item capable of taking durability damage is intrinsically repairable by combining two of them in the crafting grid. So, any sword in Swords+ will apparently be repairable if you have two of them lying around. Same result as with vanilla items. The result item is slightly more durable than the sum of the component items' durabilities. I'm pretty sure armors are exempt
This is actually good to know. It means I unintentionally avoided a scenario where the aforementioned buggy item (first post of this page [page 3]) would stop working properly. In the future where it's not buggy and supposedly working properly, I mean, lol

Like I said before this mod is amazing haha and I can't wait for more updates and like I said I have it bookmarked and when the new updates come out I will make another Mod Spotlight of it as well! so can't wait to see what you've got planned :biggrin.gif:

You and everybody else who enthusiastically enjoys my mod make me happy. Y'all totally validate my efforts. :smile.gif:
Anywho, I'd highly suggest postponing any "update" spotlights until Swords+ 1.2. Purely, it's because 1.2 will have add more swords than 1.1 as well as the new mechanics surrounding the "Mystical Forge" I hinted at earlier.

Well I guess I'll just have to learn to deal with it :tongue.gif:
I believe armor can be repaired the same as swords. That goes for bows as well. Also, have you ever thought about including shields in this mod? The Dual Wield mod has been updated to 1.0.0. I was thinking what if you were to include a cooldown time for some of the swords, the shield could serve as extra protection as well as have defensive minded abilities. Like say when right clicking on the shield, you produce a short force field. When timed right, it would help protect you from a creeper explosion or any other enemy attacks. Maybe to keep the game balanced it could be so when you have the shield equipped you are not able to wear any armor or leather armor only. A creeper attack at close range with leather armor has a high chance of death. But the shield would will give you a second chance at getting to safety.
I don't know what the possibility of these ideas being implemented are or if its even possible, but I thought I would post them anyways.
Hi my name is D4LMinecraft. I got a german youtube partner channel and I would shoot a video about your mod. Two parts installation and review in german. You can add it to your main post as a spoiler so german guys can install the mod easier by watching my video.
Here are the two videos, I told you:

The wiki makes no mention of armor, just weapons and tools. I thought about including shields but decided against it due to essentially requiring said Dual Wield mod to make them effective. I'd like my mods to be somewhat self-contained and not require users to download another person's mod to get the full effect (Risu's ModLoader the obvious exception).
Also, I'm terribly amateur at Minecraft mods so shield dynamics would probably be a bit above my level. I have pondered making an "advanced" armor system to parallel the "advanced" weapon system but... eh.. we'll see.

Well no worries. I was getting ahead of myself anyways. Just one step at a time I guess. I just see a lot of potential with this mod and would like to see it expand and grow quickly. But then again this is your mod and you already have a vision in terms of growth and what you want this to be :happy.gif:

I welcome as many ideas as you can possibly think up. This mod isn't just made by me, it's made by everyone who contributes to its development by giving me lots of cool ideas :smile.gif:
Also, Swords+ 1.1 is going to be delayed a solid 24 hours minimum (Friday evening, USA MST). But, until then, enjoy a nice little teaser of what's to come in either 1.1 or 1.2 :biggrin.gif: I am terrible at 16x blocky graphics, lol

what I want to know if this works with To Many Items, as it says it works with any mod. And yours says it only works with 3ish mods.
Sounds interesting. The sword crafted with the ender orb sounds OP though, given that with Instant health potions it has basically infinite durability. Maybe you can only restore it by crafting it with a diamond?
The compatible mods list is out of date and incomplete in general. Thanks to people doing mod reviews, I have confirmed compatibility with Too Many Items. Updating OP post.
The list was just a running start based off the mods I have installed. Others can feel free to test compatibility with more mods and let me know.
If you're tenacious enough to craft instant health potions to abuse the Ayin Blade, by all means go ahead. It only adds to the "atmosphere" of the blade. What I mean is that it's this truly powerful sword that can kill anything but the player has to give much of their fortune to craft it and much of their life to maintain it. If the player desires the sword's power so much that (s)he starts chugging health potions to be able to keep the sword "fed", doesn't that just make the sword all the more wicked? Doesn't that make the sword all the more fascinating? It's like the player has succumbed to the dark power.
That aside, though, you have given me an idea to implement that should offset potential abuse of the sword via health potions. Thanks! :smile.gif:

In other news, here's the situation involving the Swords+ mod's delay:
Basically, the problem lies in an aspect of the upgrade system I'm implementing. I wanted to try something kind of unique but Minecraft really doesn't like me trying it. Or possibly, it's just Creative Mode that doesn't like it. Either way, I've been having an annoyingly relatively-unsolvable problem and I'm thinking about ditching this idea at least for now. But, that means having to redesign how a certain few swords I'm implementing in 1.1 work and I'm somewhat at a loss for an alternative method.
As a trade-off, you're getting a LOT more content in 1.1 now :biggrin.gif:
ps: "ayin" is pronounced [eye - in]. It's the Phoenician word for "eye" if I recall correctly.
