Does it works with Zombie Awareness?
The lag is really annoying even in the newest update. It takes 1 second after I break a block for it to disappear.
I tried to lower the pathing cap and the awareness radius, but I still have the same lag. I turned off some IA features, and the lag was gone. But, I want the creeper IA, but by disabling other IA I disabled it too.
Maybe to reduce the lag, you could run the pathfinding and IA on an other thread, like the Zombie Awareness guy did.
I'm looking into the possible causes for the lag and where I can fix it within the mod. I'll release the update once I think I've suitably killed the lag but if I do need to thread the AI then that might take a while to recode all the existing features to work with it again.
Thankyou for trying so hard for us. As of now, it is true about the lag. The lag has become unplayable after about a minute of logging in, so I am sorry to say but your mod is out of my mod pack. However, I will patiently await until you can fix the lag issue as this mod is AWESSSSSSOOOOOMMMMMEEE!!!!

No matter how hard I try I can't recreate the lag and I apologise for it causing such a big problem for your pack. Can you give me some info on what your Minecraft is running with (Forge version, RAM, other mods) and it might give some insight into what is going wrong. I'm running 64bit Java 8 on 1GB of RAM for testing on Minecraft with Forge version 1230 and I can keep my FPS between 60-90 and that's with awareness set to 64 blocks and everything else enabled.

I also get lag. It only happens when your mod is installed but it is block lag not lag spikes. I like this mod too much to remove it from the modpack. The mobs also move very slowly passive and hostile. If it helps here are the mods in order of how they appear in the mods:
Heart Crystal
Apple Core
Better Storage
Code Chicken Core
CoroUtil
Deadly World
Epic Siege Mod (This Mod)
Fastcraft
Hunger Overhaul
Iguana Tinkers Tweaks
Iguana Tweaks
InfiniteInvo
Inventory Tweaks
Lava Monsters
Mantle
MedicCraft
Natura
Not Enough Items
Special AI
Special Mobs
Spice Of Life
Tinkers Construct
Thirst Mod
Zelda
Zombie Awareness
It happens even when I only have FastCraft, Zombie Awareness, This Mod and Special Mobs. And yes, I used the config but only to disable
Hope you can help
Update: I tried this with this mod alone and lower config setting and it still happens. Please. Help..

How much RAM are you running Minecraft with and which version of Java and Forge are you using?
After looking around it might have something to do with people running Java through their GPU (or maybe it was AMD specifically because I personally use NVIDIA)

Probably. I've seen two people both with high end PC setups and one runs the mod really well and the other dies out at 2 FPS. Both had more than enough system resources to run Minecraft at it's highest settings but only differed in PC parts. I'm still baffled as to why this is and what could possibly be causing it (might be something to do with how the CPU/GPU handles Java's process threads)
For Me, There's no Fps drop, no lag spikes, But the tick rate seems slow down. When a block is destroyed, it takes around 20 seconds before it disappears and drop the item. My fps is 60 when playing. I am running my server with 8 Gigs of ram.
Great mod, it adds a new layer of difficulty for Survival mode, along with other mods that supplement your defenses for a more enjoyable experience.
However, on a personal preference level, can't I just simply turn on Chaos mode and disable everything else featured in the mod? Sometimes I just want to spectate on monster factions duking it out against each other. Perhaps a mod sub-branch that controls mob aggro might be in order?

Pretty sure that is already possible however they will still occasionally attack you if no other targets are available. Play around with the settings (you can do that from in game if you like) and you should be able to disable all the special features in the mod except chaos mode which will result in the scenario you are looking for. I would be cautious though because it might be a little laggy depending on how much destruction ensues
Ok, sorry for the late response, things got a bit delayed I have no idea where the TPS lag is coming from. It runs well on vanilla setup but occasionally gets huge TPS lagspikes. I'm having a feeling that some of the TPS lag is either related to Java, or some kind of incompatibility problem with certain hardware/software.
I'll experiment some more soon, and report back here every now and then, if I happen to pinpoint the problem.
EDIT: Also btw, what Forge version did you build/test the mod on?
EDIT2: Ok, very interesting. Tested the mod on Forge-10.13.2.1307, server running Java jdk1.7.0_71, and client running Java 8. Completely vanilla setup otherwise. No TPS problems and the server runs very smooth.
Added in my favourite mods, and some TPS lag appeared, but nothing too major.
I haven't updated the ESM dev environment in quite some time and up until now I was working with Forge 1230 and Java 8 but I'm in the process of updating to 1291. I will attempt to fix the lag spikes with mobs excessively trying to path to inaccessible players as well as another notable issue with AI replacement and hopefully this should make a noticeable improvement to TPS even more.
PS: Thanks for all the feedback and testing, it is actually helping quite a lot in debugging the source of a lot of the lag and other notable problems.
Almost ready to push out this update. So far I've killed so much lag it's quite amazing how well such large amounts of evil AI are running now! Also I taught mobs how to swim so mobs are now taking pickaxes and creepers down to your once 'safe' underwater bases.
If you haven't already seen the in game notification or my Tweets, I updated ESM with significant improvements to TPS, now developed and supporting Forge 1291
Sorry bud, my Server Tick still goes all the way to 125.08 using your newest update of the mod. I'm gonna go ahead and try it with only FORGE to see if there are any difference. I am using MC 1.7.10, FORGE 1291.
EDIT: Using ESM with just FORGE, Optifine, and Fastcraft, the TPS/Server tick averages around 25-30, which decreases block breaking capability by 2 seconds with only me in the world. Sorry, but it's still quite unplayable at this point. I am using the top tier Mac OS Laptop- $3000 2015, and still I lag playing Minecraft with 3 mods? It's definitely this mod; my old mod pack included 120 mods and ran fine with an average tick of 9-12, including mods with tons of mobs such as Lycanites Mob and Mo Creatures having multiple players on the server at the same time. Perhaps the lag has to do with your mobs unique AI...

Okay I think I've killed most of the TPS lag. Let me know how the new version goes
Dude this mod is The best! I love it
