Im new to mods and minecraft in general so Im sure this is a dumb question. But is there any way to turn off the floating crystal wisps that shoot you in this mod? Everything else seems really cool but this enemy is very annoying to me, especially in caves. Is there an option file or can I remove something from minecraft.jar or anything like that. If it helps I got this mod from Yogbox.
Download the newset version - the wisps now remain non-aggro unless you attack them first.
Great mod! I had tried a bunch of tech mods but it just did not feel like minecraft with them there. Your mod adds great new features while keeping the magical feel of minecraft in.
Suggestion:
Safe Stabilized Arcane Singularity
Adds a form of the Arcane Singularity that has only the gravity effects not the explosion or block destruction.
Again great mod and I hope your mod gets even more publicity.
So if magical area don't help vis production, i'd better avoid them if i don't want something bad spawning in my laboratory :wink.gif:
And 11*11 block to put obelisk ... then we can make some really nice things !
And another set of questions, cause i see you have tested almost all :wink.gif:.
Can 2 condenser use the same obelisk at one time ? if so we can put lot of condenser in our room. But if not, then we only need one well placed.
Is it usefull to have more than one altar in our laboratory ?
Again, thanks a lot for your help.
You need to place the condenser in a magic chunk for them to work, that's efectivly all magic chunks do for now is make condensers work. So yes you should build your labretory at least partly on a magic chunk otherwise you wonte have a steady sorse of vis cristles
Yes an obilisk can power multiple condensers.
If you want to power more then one talisman at a time its usfull i guess, alltho you only realy need 3, talismans so far as they do not degenerate. more if you want several transporter talismans.
((sorry for the spelling im a bit to tired to be bothered to fix it right now))

Yes, multiple condensers can share the same or same sets of obelisks. There isn't a limit atm other than how many you can squeeze into the "active" obelisk area.
A few pages back in this thread I posted a video of my "tower of power" using 36 total condensers in between 8 obelisks. I can say when you get to a high number like that you will get a drop in frame rate. I'll probably drop down to 24 condensers at some point, so that'd be around 165 vis per min. vs. 250 now.
It may be worthwhile to note (you can see in video) how I did the system. 4 condensers surround one block and all face inwards. This allows all to dump in one square. Water wash down prevents the sticky ones. There are 2 obsidian pipes grabbing the crystals. One goes to a storage chest, the other to the crucible. There is a RP multiplexer that will switch off the crucible line when it gets full (and sends its' signal). Power continues to run to storage line for no losses.
To Azanor. I'm still not sure how this design could work with TC2, or if it will. However from a balance POV and current design; it might be handy to have a max condenser per obelisk. Seems 2 per is a gobs plenty.
But on another note,...those darn wands die to fast! lol
Fianlly for altars. Only one altar will "accept a charge" / charge per obelisk set / range. So to have an additional altar you'd need the altars 10 blocks apart and both having obelisks, no closer than 5 to the other obelisk set / altar.

I don't want to step on toes, but I feel maybe I should clarify here some. Just something I've noticed having to do with this.
Yes a condenser alone needs a magic area. however;
when powered within an obelisk range.... Neither need to be in a magic area. The obelisk alone will drive the condenser.

Is it possible that Thumcraft 2.0 with its dynamic would/bio changing. e.g. the deserts changing to rainforist and vic vrs. Would ever be compatible with a mod that overhauls train generation such as the Wasteland Mod.
I just installed it and my imediat thought was how awsum would it be to charge a chunk with enough vis to start regrowing the desolate landscape.
it crashes when i try to load it up, and yes i do have the latest modloader, modloadermp and forge, but it comes up with this error
will use sploilers when i figure out how.
So, has anyone found any Verdant Vis Crystals recently, or know their biome? I can't seem to find one for the life of me! I'd assumed maybe plains biome, though my map only has small strips of plains. however even after 2 weeks of camping in plains I never saw a whisp spawn. So, I'm curious if I'm in the wrong place or they are not in game?
Also, Azanor.
the 1.2.4bc2 patch. It seems the whisps don't attack at all now, even after you hit them? haven't tried with bc3 version though.
Thx for any help info on Verdant Crystals :smile.gif:
Few people are trying to get me to try out ThaumCraft. I have a few questions and please don't take this as an insult just asking in general and love the looks of this mod.
My name is Kane and I run a server called Godcraft and recently started a Lets Play Series on Youtube. Now I been trying to stay pretty legit and let me explain what I mean by this.
I have dozens of mods mainly big ones BC/IC/RP and etc.. Now they are pretty legit as they take time to create something large scale and farm and etc. Also I'm not really going crazy with instant miners and such.
Now here is the one most people would scream UNLEGIT. Equivalent Exchange. BUT I have only used it at this time to make Bags/Chests and nothing else because using the 3 BC/IC/RP really is heavy on inventory usage.
So my question with people who have experiences with RP/IC/BC/EE is this mod more powerful or less powerful then EE and when I say powerful I mean Easy as in you will start spawning diamonds out of thin air in a couple of days hehe.
Also it seems like there is BC support for pipes and such. Do you have anything for IC as well?
Also to prevent me from breaking my Let's Play Series does this mod work just fine generating new land? Also is there any new challenges I saw a whisp that does not aggro if I'm correct unless you do damage. Anything scary out there or just creepers still?
For BC/IC integration there is the vis generator, and this mods is nothing like Equivalent Exchange, yes you can copy diamonds, but the amount of vis required for that process is at least 4-5 times more than the vis you would get by throwing a diamond in the cauldron.
It seems there was some issues with the IC2 API as well. I've hotfixed the 1.2.4 download again, so if you are having issues with IC2, just redownload my mod.

The wisps are pretty scary if you hit them, and there are the thuamic slimes that can grow to be massive.
About the diamonds, you can, but only if you are willing to set up a complicated farm that can constantly fill a long line of crucibles at just the right rate that they don't gain or lose vis. The reason for all the crucibles is that it takes time to smelt things down into vis(which is one of the major limiting factors put in place), so you need more of them to produce vis fast enough to actually spam diamonds using a duplicator. This is still a slow process that is no where near EE's level of spam, and also takes up more room, so all in all I have not found it to be unbalancing. Also, most farmable materials are not worth much vis, so you need a really big farm to produce enough vis to spam diamonds.

There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.

All I can offer is my opinion I suppose, but I'll try that if you will.
I have experience with RP/BC/IC and looked and laughed at EE. I would agree if there's any OP nonsense mod out there its' EE.
For me, I use the, recently picked back up, Iron chests mod. It has a larger chest anyhoo Also, there's a simple backpack mod also that has a similar "saveable" bag.
So in direct comparison to EE, no it's not nonsense. It is though a bit different or unique somewhat for a mod. Most try and offer some assistance, automation or techy automation to complete (for the most part); minecraft tasks.
With Thaumcraft, you are really playing the mod itself; instead of mostly furthering a standard mine experience. A lot of aspects of this mod are independent of the basic minecraft world. However, having said that; this mod DOES offer a great synergy with both Minecraft as well as BC/IC integration (thaumic generator). But don't forget to try some Arcane mining too!
It truly does bring a new "feel" of real magic into minecraft, not to mention cool armor, magic wands, talismans, shoes and symbols. All of this brought to you by the magical vis in most items and the Crucibles' ability to smelt out pure game fun.
As for new mobs there are a few. Ya, the whisps recently became less hostile to potent magic casters. but there are also Thaumic Slimes you may find and Mystical Eldritch trees with wonderful fruit and Lively timber ;P. I suppose there was a great caster, Azanor I believe, who did make mention of another.....something, but maybe somethings are better left unexplored.....or are they!
Of course, my mod currently doesn't support multiplayer, so a lot of this discussion is moot. :smile.gif:
TC2 will (hopefully) be SMP compatible, but with the core changes it makes to a world it will only work on a fresh server. Existing world will be missing too many fundemental things.
