Bug with adding an odd number of additional vis values in the config file, see the comment below.
public static int getCustomSmeltItem(ItemStack var0)
{
if (smeltList == null)
{
smeltList = new HashMap();
String[] var1 = Config.smelting.split(";");
if (var1.length % 2 == 0) /** This Breaks the code if you have a odd number of custom entries, and doesn't seem to serve any purpose **/
{
for (int var2 = 0; var2 < var1.length; ++var2)
{
String[] var3 = var1[var2].split(":");
if (var3.length % 2 == 0)
{
smeltList.put(var3[0].replaceAll("_", " "), Integer.valueOf(Integer.parseInt(var3[1])));
}
}
}
}
I was wondering where you learned to use open glsl. I've been trying to make more then just recycled bits of minecraft graphics, and apply them as such, but discerning notches graphics code is hell-in-a-handbasket. Any tips or pointers or just all around helpful anything that could get me goin on it? I see your prowess with this graphics library and you make me want to hate and love you at the same time. Anyway's wonderful work on the mod, if you ever wanna try anything else it'll probably be twice as awesome as thaum. Keep up the good work!
I think he was showing how adding different machines to a line of piping will increase the pressure on it, possibly resulting in bad things happening when the pressure gets too high.
Negative pressure is caused my machines to 'request' what it needs to operate.
Bellows cause pressure as well, to allow movement of Vis/Taint without a machine needing to call it.
Machines only call what they need. Filters call pure taint. Most others call pure Vis. Some others call both.
Bellows, and Storage Tanks both call Taint and Vis- but have lower pressure then machines so the machines have priority. Bellows are greater then Tanks, so they can be used to move Vis/Taint between other tanks, or other areas.
Yeah, I figured that out too. It's just that when I left the forum went dark. It bugged me. XD
Anyway, I saw azanor's video on pressure, and I'm afraid that I have no freaking clue how it works. Can someone explain?
If something needs vis/taint, it pulls the vis/taint towards itself, rather than taking whatever happens to be nearby like it does now. That's really about it. Glass tanks pull too so if nothing else is going on, it'll flow back into storage. It looks pretty cool and apparently stuff gets where it needs to go a lot faster than the current system.
I found my first (and second nearby) monolith. I even dig all the way to the bottom of it to see if it ended... it doesn't... And i don't know what I did wrong, but on exploded when I accidentally clicked on it with a Vis crystal in my hand...

Well you didn't do anything wrong but if you could see you would figure it out.
Had li'l bit of a brainstorm with some other guy 'bout something to add. Just droppin' it here.
-snipped the bit about the grounding bow-
Enchanted Wood Bow, easier to enchant and has a higher durability than the normal bow. Crafted like a normal bow, but with Enchanted Wood instead of sticks.
A little more thought could be put into the Bow of Grounding, but I really like the enchanted wood bow- it goes well with the highly enchantable thaumium ore.
Dang, I feel so outclassed. Everyone's talking about looking in the code, calculations that people wonder how it doesn't crash java, adding TC2 to a modpack and editing code so it will fit in... geez, everyone here is a mastermind!
We're not geniuses, we just let out brains-in-jars do our thinking for us.
*Tainted spores that go in jars, not sure of the applications
A slow-acting taint source to be hooked up to the pipes?
*Tainted armor, kinda like prototype 2 meets nightmare from Soul Calibur
Tainted what? taint is non-solid.
*Soul catcher + Vis Duplicator = Mob spawner of sorts
*Enchanted Golems themed with High Vis or Taint
*Corrupted villagers
I like the idea of being mobbed by an entire town angry about their town being tainted
*Captured Wisps being used as batteries for the TC generator.
*Corrupted Silverwood trees
Doesn't make much sense, taint can't get anywhere near them.
*Push/Pull wand or glove, so I can pull like with the sword then push them away again
Could be an additional effect for the sword.
*Bees for Forestry <-- mentioned pages ago, still a good idea
*Tainted Creepers * sorta like electrified but do a singularity explosion when near
We have tainted creepers, I think. Call them eldritch creepers?
I have no idea how high vis can be visualized besides the grass thing, I just know deserts turning green is kinda annoying.
Oooh, a bit of a story element should be added to the Research system. If you research all available items (up to this version), then a message says: "You've worked hard. You should rest now." or something like that because that sounds lame. Anyway, when you sleep, something will pop up: "After resting, you think up a thought that has been nagging at you this whole time: 'Why am I doing all this?' Will you use this power for good? ...Or for evil...?" Depending on your choice, a corrosponding research tree will open up, and you can research "Vis Wizardry" or "Tainted Sorcerer" items.
I REALLY like this idea, as long as once you complete your chosen path, you gain access to the other.

Consider that a hint. Maybe it didn't like that crystal.
Wow, I wish I could check the forum more often, so I didn't have to epic multiquote.
How about a thaumic bucket that can hold more than one source block of liquid at a time? A regular bucket+thaumium and aqueous vis crystals in the infusor.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Oh god, I've just become my worst nightmare-a suggestion spammer. Kill me now, I can't live with myself any longer.

I guess... One with a fiery crystal to make a multiple Lava one too.
Or Bucket+Thaumium Ingot+Fiery Crystal+Aqueous Crystal = Multi-Use Bucket? Up to 10 of Water or Lava at a time?
I dub it the 'Bottomless Bucket'. Granted, it's only ten 'charges'.

My thought is-
How do you keep it working/separated. Like, when you're bailing out water, how does it know whether you're trying to pick up water or dump it? And how would it know how to pick up/place water or lava? Inquiring minds want to know.
Also: You're a spammer!? Do you not see those multquotes I do twice a day? I'm honestly surprised nobody has yelled at me, thought I'm just trying to be involved on an inconvenient schedule. Really, if nobody else does, I appreciate your offers, and Azanor does seem to take advice from his little cult- I mean, following.

Right click on water. Pick it up, unless bucket is full. If full, and right clicked on a water source block- Nothing happens. If right clicked through water onto a block, it places one 'charge'.
Right click on anything else, place water.
Lava behaves the same, maybe ignoring the 'click through lava' part, as it's not infinite and might get rid of one block of lava by placing lava where it already is.

It would know to pick up liquid the same way a regular bucket does. Don't ask me how, I have no experience with the coding of minecraft.
If you right click not on a source block, it pours out some of the liquid. The bucket can only hold one kind on liquid at a time, because anything else would be inconvenient as hell (No, not the lava! The WateraaaaAAAAAUUUUUGGGHHHH!)

We've already bogged Azanor down with ideas.
He needs time to code.
I question the necessity of this post so much that i could mark it as spam

Nono, I like it. You just don't want to permanently deny us anything. We're greedy like that.
My method explained.
I've been blinded. With science. Now I'm science blinded. Thanks.

Oh, I should have made that more clear. I didn't mean unlimited, more like 8 or so.
