Not sure where the revival of the thread came from, but I'll add my comment here. I just recently went back to playing some old 1.2.5 mods, in large part due to how much I enjoyed this one. Thaumcraft 4 is pretty, and has some cool stuff in it, but I really love how this second iteration plays. I know it's not likely to happen, but I would love to see a revival of this system as an alternative to the newer mechanics, for current versions of Minecraft. Most of the time, the new "Scan everything, fail to get anything from half of it, repeat..." approach of the new version leaves me too bored to ever get into the good parts. I don't think I've ever made practical use of anything beyond simple transmutations in 3, or even gotten anywhere in 4. With this one, I actually got to sink my teeth into what the mod had to offer, get a taste for it all, and properly enjoy it.
yeah, I,ve never gotten far in thaumcraft 4, just because I really dislike the research mechanics. I did actually enjoy thaumcraft 3, however, and I was able to finish all of the research, but it was way to much of a resource sink, much more so than thaumcraft 2's system. thaumcraft 2 also has the awesome pipes, which are a jillion times cooler than the ones from thaumcraft 4, and I think it has a slight steampunky vibe to it, which I love. Although I do like some of the features of the newer versions, I just cant think of any right now.
Yeah, I just recently played through a thaumcraft 2 survival world, with just a few old, unupdated mods. the awesomeness of thaumcraft 2 made up for the fact that I had to use such an old minecraft version
Damn... This mod has a few things removed I wish were in thaumcraft 4... The seals for one...
Anyone fancy making a nostalgia thaumcraft 4 addon mod that adds in a few items from back in the day?
That necro, search the wip mods section, there is one currently being made.

There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.
Hello, in the Technic Launcher modpacks, I know Industrial Aether has many mods like Thermal Expansion 1 for 1.2.5, the exact ThaumCraft2.1.6d, Buildcraft, IC2, Factorization, EE2, Aether 1, railcraft, NEI for its time (when carrying the files to test if Codechicken and NEI work in other ways its a bit useless so just adding other 1.2.5 so than removing them isn't smart, I was just testing it a long while ago to see if they work outside the mudpack. But their are also other mods like the airship, ender storage, bees, redpower 2, ic2 addons, Wireless Redstone, nether ores, sneaky pipes, twilight forest, tubestuff and more. Try that. Technic has been my go too for any 1.2.5-1.7.10 modpack instances even if Java doesn't go for 1.7.10 on the standard launcher for me anymore. Try that out. I even made videos of mod versions content features using the 1.2.5 mods in it because a history of mods idea came to me at the time.
Or you could, use Lost Thaumaturgy for newer Minecraft versions, but its differences in areas compared to the original and its addon mod, isn't completely Thaumcraft 2 so Lost Thaumaturgy isn't for everyone.
Your welcome Thaumcraft 2 fans.
Also there are mods like Intermediary which do 1.2.5 mods for 1.7.10, but its messy and less useful.
There seems to be the final versions of ThaumCraft for each Minecraft version with links to Thaumcraft 2 (for 1.1 and 1.2.5) on the Thaumcraft 3 & 6 forums:
No problem, I only knew since I was looking over my older videos and looking for sources you could download the old versions of mods for (with or without looking up archives or using a modpack that has them) and I just happened to find them on those later forum threads.

I love thaumcraft, tc2 in particular. I just wish the mask of cruelty was added back in...

I haven't tried the link nor looked through older posts on this thread, but the link should be working.

Does anyone still have the files for this? It seems to not be up anywhere, and I was looking forward to playing older Thaumcraft alongside 1.2.5 mods.
