A way to turn off mobs would be nice. I have a bunch of pet wolves and I can't see the map at my house because they're all there.
Have torches been turned off on the map render?
Not sure about the biome support, I'm around a bunch of swamp land it's making 90 degree swamp colors on the map making it look... less "pretty." Not a big deal, just my $.02.

Still need feedback on the beta (JourneyMap 1.5b) if anyone is interested. I especially want to hear if the new in-game GUI is working okay for everyone.
I just uploaded the next beta release (JourneyMap 1.5b2 for MineCraft 1.1). If you'd like to see the changelist and try it out, you can get the info and download here:
I just wanted to put in my request for Spoutcraft. I wish ModLoader was supported by Spoutcraft, but it isn't. I am just liking Spoutcraft a lot because it has so many cool features where it communicates directly with the server for certain addons, special blocks, etc...

Thanks for your input. I am open to it, but I want to see what the new mod API that is supposed to be built-in soon will provide. I'm hoping it makes the need to code to ModLoader and Spoutcraft moot. If not, I'll put it in the list of higher priorities.
I've downloaded the modloader and journey map mod both correctly. When I log onto minecraft it gives me the little message saying to go to http://localhost:8080, but for some reason when I go to that site, it gives me an error.
"Access Error: 404-- Not found" If anyone could help me out that would be so great. And yes I've tried deleting and reinstalling the mod like a million times. PLEASE HELP!! Thank you.

It's possible that port (8080) is blocked. You can change the port in the journeyMap/webserver.properties file. Try 80 or 9090 and restart Minecraft. If neither work, please open a ticket so I can see your log file.
Can you do us server admins a favor? Similar to what Rei's minimap does, can you have the motd of a server toggle players and monsters being able to be seen on Journeymap? If you don't want to make it an enable, in the very least, can you let us put something in the motd to disable its usage? I admin on a hardcore SMP server, and its hard enough as it is to find hacked clients. This can be used with great efficiency to track down players even when they are hidden.
Might be nice if you could make it so sneaked players don't show up as well.

I need to do a server-side mod sooner or later anyway in order to properly support Multiverse. Do me a favor and open a Ticket with your server-side wish list so I can track and prioritize. Anybody available to beta test those features would be a big help as well.

I am also an admin for a Hardcore server. I'd like to be able to send a signal to clients running JourneyMap to completely disable the JourneyMap mod and keep a player from using any of it's features while logged into my server. JourneyMap can create an unfair advantage during certain PvP situations.
I don't believe I should have to run a server side plugin to disable it. A simple code in the chat channel ala Rei's would be welcome by a whole host of PvP server admins.
An idle thought occurred to me while looking at the new Google Earth imagery. Would anyone like water to be depth-mapped rather than how it is done now (with a few blocks of transparency to show shallow areas)? Put another way: Would you like to see the ocean floor, or do you prefer the way it is now?
What is the likeliness of this project heading in the direction of "Dynmap" ? I'm running a modded server instance and so I can't really use Bukkit (not to mention I only want to when it'll be worth it, and in all honesty with my current setup, it's not). But I really love the way dynmap works and was hoping this plugin would act similarly if not better.
So my question is, really, what sort of time-frame are you looking on for a Server Plugin? ModLoaderMP could be used so that you can hook into ModLoader for SMP surely?
Hi,
First off: I think Dynmap is pretty sweet, and I've never had the intention to try to recreate the wheel for what they already do so well. I started JourneyMap because I wanted a better personal map as I explored on a MP server. (And, I wanted to try my hand at modding.)
The most practical way to accomplish that was by reading the chunks around the player out of memory and then rendering image tiles to disk for each. The embedded web server is, fundamentally, serving HTML files and a composite of the rendered image tiles.
Because JM doesn't need to read Minecraft's data files, it can work just fine on an MP server. But it is - for now - very player-centric. A true server version that mapped everybody would need to run on the server, run in a real web server, write files on the server, and perhaps most importantly, read Minecrafts data files instead of what's in memory. Basically, a completely new architecture.
So while I might tackle that in the future, I don't have immediate plans for it. And I intend to wait for the new modding API that will be released by Mojang soon... I hope it can do away with all of the Bukkit / Vanilla / Modloader / Spoutcraft mess altogether.
For now, my big need for a serverside plugin is to support multiverse. That's about all I have scoped for the near future on the server side of things. For now.
In this beta update, I have some new code in place to try to support MultiVerse and other multi-world mods. Give it a spin and let me know if it works with your multi-world server?
Also, for those of you who haven't looked at the new features coming in 1.5, there are a number of improvements worth noting. One of the biggies is an in-game map you can use instead of a web browser. And, by popular demand: You can save the entire explored world map, not just the current view.

Thanks! will continue testing.
If you don't mind, lets continue the conversations about the beta on the other thread - don't want to confuse the general public about features they don't have yet. :smile.gif: I'll respond to your comments over there:

If you support this mod, Put this into your Signature!
Hope this helps! If you are feeling generous, please press the green button, Thanks!
For example, here's a Google Earth image showing the ocean floor off the coast of California:

Yep, you can use your IP address or machine name (if it can be resolved) from another computer on your LAN.
