I'm asking becuase I am interested in cartography, map making, on a multiplayer server that I am on, however they do not allow use of map mods that allow entity tracking.

Thanks for your consideration.
Yes, use the in-game UI's Options button OR the web map Show menu. You can turn off mobs, animals, pets, villagers, other players, and your preferences will be remembered across restarts.
will you be updating this to 1.7? I really wanna use this on my server!
I sure will. Like many modders, I'm depending on MCP to be updated first. When that happens, I can get the ball rolling on recompiling for 1.7.x.
(But I will note that this is a client mod, so I hope you mean you want to use this when playing on your server, and not something you think will be installed on your server.)
I recently asked you about creating a program to merge the journeymap png files from diffrent users. I'm currently writing a program to do just that in java and i have a few questions for you.
-will you be implementing this idea your self soon, if so I'll stop working on my merge utility
-second are your .png files time stamped at all and are the times stamps updated each time a the chunk is updated?

I don't have plans to create such a tool at this time.
I highly recommend you wait for JM 3.0 to come out, because it'll make your job much easier.
1. Files will be migrated to subfolders by dimension, day/night, and vertical slice (if underground)
2. Day / night will each get its own tile - no longer combined
3. Files will only be written to disk only if the image has changed. This last part will be especially important for what you're doing.
Hey! I tweeted this question to you as well, but I thought maybe I'd give it an ask here, too. *chuckles*
I've got a monster of a map, having been using JourneyMap for ages. I recently updated from 1.4.7 to 1.6.2 and would love to know how to bring the old maps into the new setup. Any help on this would be most appreciated! Thanks!
Hi. I tried using this mod along with Twilight Forest and some other mods :
-Can I do something about the modded blocks showing as black squares ? Could you do something like, auto detecting the most used color of a block (if it's not a basic minecraft block) and use that color for the minimap display ?
-Is it normal that when I switch dimensions, the map of the new dimension overwrites the old one ? That gives me 2 maps stacking on each other each time that I switch dimensions, kinda takes out the whole point of the mod :/
I've tested TwilightForest with JourneyMap 3.0 Beta 1 and it looks good. The custom blocks, biomes, and dimension appear to be working well.

It seems crash on custom entities. Or at least the wisps from either Thaumcraft or Ars Magica 2, I can't remember which.
But I will post the log from chat when I get the chance. It's related to EntityLiving.
Also I'm not entirely sure if it's because it's a modded tree, but the color for the leaves on Natura redwoods seems to be recorded as black and this is with cave mode off.
Other than that it's looking great. Helps me avoid mobs, and find things now that I can't use map writer on the server.
Most modders, including myself, are waiting for MCP and Forge to be updated for Minecraft 1.7.2. Apparently the scope of changes made is... well, I've heard the word "staggering". The Bukkit team says 220,000 lines of code changed inside Minecraft. Wow.
So, many mods are going to be horribly broken and need a ton of changes once MCP and Forge are actually ready to use. All of this is in preparation for Mojang's own mod APIs to be ready for use in the future. So when can I start the process of updating JourneyMap for 1.7.2? No idea.
In the meantime, I've been working on massive changes for JourneyMap 3.0.0, which will be initially released for Minecraft 1.6.4.
The next release, which is currently in closed beta, is in some significant ways an almost complete rewrite, so a LOT of testing needs to be done. Depending on how the closed beta goes (apply here if you want to help beta test), I may be ready to release JM 3.0.0 for MC 1.6.4 within a week or so.
For those interested in what's coming, here's a list of what to expect in JourneyMap 3.0.0 for Minecraft 1.6.4:
In-game UI completely re-written to be much faster, zoom out further, and have no texture distortions.
The new web map is now powered by Google Maps, has a new look, and performs much better than the old web map
New feature: Auto-mapping entire single-player worlds
New feature: Saved map files now show the chunk grid (if enabled)
Added support for multiple resource packs at the same time
Added support for custom blocks, biomes, and dimensions
Added support for seeing and using chat when the In-game Map is open
The icons for other players are now their Minecraft skin (no longer a generic Steve face)
In-game Map UI now honors the user keybinding for: Forward, Back, Left, Right, Open Chat, and Open Inventory
Changes to JourneyMap's data files. Your map files will be migrated when first connecting to a new world.
Major reductions in how often image files are written to disk.
Havent seen anything relating to modpacks, So i figured i would ask, Am i allowed to put this in my modpack?
Sorry, not at this time. A well-known Modpack group has approached me for inclusion in their stuff, and I'm considering it. But in the meantime, I haven't permitted redistribution. Thanks for asking, though. For what it's worth, the JourneyMap website does have this disclaimer on the footer of each page:
Im have a problem im trying to load the minimap on my ipad but it keeps telling me unable to find page and when i try it on pc it works why dose it not work on my ipad its on the same network

I would use this mod but I find the map to look way too pixely XD if it was more crisp and clear I would use it in a heartbeat. I also find it annoying that you can't zoom out the map very far.

FYI, I'm currently testing JM 3.0 beta 2 specifically with Mystcraft to ensure custom dimensions are handled correctly. So far, so good.
