I like this mod a lot, but after the first week (when it worked great) it started to crash my client.
Now sometimes, it will work with localhost, but after a short time it freezes. Anytime I hit J the client freezes and crashes.
I'll submit a ticket with the log, but I wanted to bring it up here also...
So far this has been reported a few times and has invariably come back to running out of memory. This can happen when you have a lot of mods running, or simply not much RAM to work with. Thanks for opening the ticket - I'll work with you to figure it out.
In general, if people run into this, they should google "increase minecraft heap" and follow instructions for giving more memory to Minecraft.
Just wondering, becuase this is an installed software, will this give me any viruses whatsoever?
No.
However, you should always use proper virus protection software to scan software you download. A person distributing viruses wouldn't admit it anyway, so don't take someone's word for it.
Firstly, this mod is great. I love looking at a massive map! It's brilliant.
However, when I died, the map was reset back to 0....which was a bit of a pain as I had uncovered an awful lot.
Is this supposed to happen? And is there any way I can essentially reload the old map that was uncovered?

Epib is right. Sorry for the inconvenience - it hasn't always been this way.
Multiplayer servers have stopped providing world seed data that let JM know when you were changing worlds. I have some stop-gap code that tries a number of things to figure it out, but it's not proven reliable. I've asked one of the Mojang devs for a simple change on the minecraft server which would solve the problem. He said he's look into it, but haven't heard anything that sounds like it'll actually be fixed for Minecraft 1.2.3. I'm hopeful the release after next with the new modding API will have it, but that's just hope without real info at this point.
I'm also working on a server-side mod that multiplayer admins can put on the server to accomplish the same fix, as well as letting them restrict JM functionality if desired (like no mob/player radar on hardcore worlds, etc.) But I know from experience that convincing admins to put new plugins on their servers isn't always an easy task.
This is a great mod! Certainly a must have from now on.
On a side note it will be nice when the mod api is finally built in so you guys aren't tied to having to wait for modloader to update. Will mean easier updating and the ability to update for test builds........hopefully
I've been supporting this mod ever since it appeared on the net, but I miss some kind of configuration for mod support.
If I for instance run a game based on the TFC mod, where a lot of blocks have different textures, IDs and whatnot, these blocks will simply render black.
Would it be possible to make a scheme file of some sort where you can give a block ID a specific colour of your choice instead of hard coded ones? That would mean people could make Journey Map compatible with basically every mod using custom blocks.
Just a thought.
Good idea. Please open a ticket so I can track this and put it on my todo list.
Thank you for making JourneyMap. It's made exploring so much better. It's just nice to be able to create a map of where I've been without hassle... or, you know... getting lost, which I tend to do. I love being able to access it by hitting J.
hello i use 1.3 now and when are u planning to update the version for 1.3
because this is the mose awesome mod i ever seen.
so i really wanna continue the use of this mod thanks in
advance
Thanks for the wonderful support and encouragement by everyone - it makes modding for you guys a pleasure.
JourneyMap for Minecraft 1.2.5 has been downloaded over 24,000 times, so I know a lot of you are anxious for the update.
So, I wanted to let you know I'm actively working on moving JourneyMap up to Minecraft 1.3.1 (in the evenings after my day job, of course). A lot has changed in Minecraft and ModLoader, so this update has been more of a pain than past updates.
My plan is to post links to a beta version in the next day or two. Whoever wants to try it out can let me know how it goes, and from there we'll try to get a stable version available for everybody as soon as possible.

Excellent, thank you for the mod, the info and I'll be happy to beta test
BTW: Do you have a donate button somewhere? If the mod was downloaded over 24,000 times I think some of the happy users would actually use this (I know I would).
I'd be of this mind as well, this is one of my favourite mods, if another mod conflicts with Journey Map it doesn't get a look in!
will be hitting up the beta to help iron out the wrinkles as soon as it is available.
I just discovered Minecraft and I get lost a lot That's why I looked for something exactly like JourneyMap. Since I'm playing v1.3.1 I'm very interested in helping with the beta test!

Do you test it with any of the weekly snapshots, or full releases only?
Keep up the great work!
No.

You can do a PayPal donation to JourneyMap with this link or I have a donate button that's a bit hard to spot on the Bukkit Dev site. Look for it on the top-right of the page:
