Hmm, pardon me for being hasty, but I can't find any info about these markers I asked about some time ago.
Are they still "in development" so to speak? Just curious.
I haven't been working on new stuff for JM yet - taking a little break after the insanity of two back-to-back Minecraft releases and all the recompile/re-release crap that rolls downhill from it
And, I'll admit it, I get distracted by playing Minecraft itself. I play on RealmCraft if anyone is looking for a fun multiplayer server and wants to say hi.
But when I start up on new development again, place markers are at the top of the client-side features list. I'm also working on the base of what will become a server-side plugin to support mapping of multi-world servers, admin control of the radar, etc.
I just downloaded this mod and I love it, but the browser map won't work if you're running an Apache server on your machine because port 8080 is already in use so you'll just see the directory for the server. Not a huge deal, but if anyone here is running Apache, you'll have to disable it to show the map in the browser. Thanks for the sweet mod!

Glad ya like it
You can edit the .minecraft/journeyMap/journeyMap.properties file and change the port number from 8080 to whatever you like. Restart Minecraft for the change to take effect.

Ah. How could I have overlooked that. Well thanks. This is really useful for nighttime shenanigans.
Is there a way to disable JourneyMap temporarily without losing all my accumulated map data? It makes the game lag on my machine, so I'd like to be able to turn it off to do caving and building for a while, then bring it back again later with all the work I've done filling it in intact (we are using the exported .png file as our worldmap outside of minecraft).

Great program, btw!
Hi,
Very few have had performance issues - check the journeyMap.log file for a lot of repeating errors. If you see them, open a ticket and I'll help you get to the bottom of the problem.
In the meantime, take the JourneyMap.zip out of the mods folder to disable it.
I don't know if it's JourneyMap or the server but when I played on a server and disconnect from it, the JourneyMap data will be reset the next time I reconnect to the server.
I made a huge map of a server (and saved the map) but the next time I joined the server I was back to square one again, if you know what I mean.
It takes some time to fly around to make the map and it's kind of annoying to do it every time I join the same server.
But I don't know, it might be the server that do the reset for some reason.
But it shouldn't since the data from JourneyMap is stored on my own computer.
Hey dude !
This happened to me once before but only between upgrades - Just as a note journeymap saves to your computer not the server ... this could also happen if you travel between realms with journeymap on just a thought until TB replies thats as good as you got have
nice day !

The problem is that since MC 1.2.3 the server no longer tells the client what the current world seed is. I used that to know when you changed worlds on the server. So as of right now I don't have a reliable way to find that out. I'm exploring whether or not a server-side mod would be a viable work-around, but that means your server admin would have to be willing to add a mod. I'm also hopeful the new modding API that Mojang is working on may provide an alternative way to get reliable world info.
Very nice mod techbrew, im enjoying exploring the worlds on the servers i play on, and documenting it with the map.
3 ideas for the future of this mod:
1. waypoint or markers placeable on the actual map
2. make it so larger maps can be saved, im currently playing on a server with a 20k x 20k map limit, i currently cant save the full map because of how large of a span i have explored.
3. i already read talk of this previous; however, to reiterate, an in game minimap feature would be very nice

Please open a ticket with your log file after you try saving off the very large map - I haven't reached a limit yet, so I'd like to see the error

Is it possible to disable showing monsters on the map but still show nearby players? I really like the sound of this mod, but revealing the monsters is a bit too cheaty for me. Good to see that dark cave mapping is disabled by default and you can configure the number of chunks around you that get mapped! All the other map mods give away too much information, this one almost seems perfect for me! If I could just disable the monster revealing that'd be great.

You can toggle the Show Monsters button off any time you choose.
There isn't a toggle for Show Players, but I could add one if people want it. Open a ticket

I am having the same problem, the map has completely erased itself in-game after hours of work filling it in. I can see that the data is still there in the folder, but how do I get the game to realize that and use it again?

The simplest solution is copy all the files over to the newer directory.

i just wanted to know does this mapper bring much lag and if it does how much?

Now sometimes, it will work with localhost, but after a short time it freezes. Anytime I hit J the client freezes and crashes.
I'll submit a ticket with the log, but I wanted to bring it up here also...
