the "vanilla" ores still have the same configuration?, really?, why not make it equal to the new minerals?, i dont see the point in having a realistic approach to metallurgy if you still have to search for patches of coal or iron. also i have some ideas for new ores:
-Unobtainium: late game ore which is made of a fusion of Titanium and another metal (dont know which one yet)
-maybe an implementation with the Tiberium mod so it could be processed into deadly tools.
-obsidian as a crafting ore
-some ores can serve as building materials, like Steel. we need more metallic blocks apart from diamond, gold and iron
-Cobalt
-Nickel
-Mercury
-Quartz could be a pre-diamond ore, its the second in resistance of materials
-Iridium which comes from space
-a forge: like an improved version of the Furnace which is used for smelting late game ores like Adamantium or the like, and uses lava as fuel.
if i know anothers i'll post them.......good mod BTW
So I installed this according to the instructions (Extract into minecraft.jar, delete meta-inf) and exactly nothing happened when I created a new world. No new wooden tool textures, no new ores, no new blocks, nothing. I even went into creative mode to see if the new ore blocks showed up in the item selector, and nothing showed up. Any clue what's happening?
EDIT: Added modloader dependency without telling anyone, sneaky...
this mod is great. kinda remionds me abit of runescape mining lol (wasnt into that game much either) anyway becasue im such a great minecrafteer im going to tell you computer beginers know how to install.
1) go to your start menu> RUN> and type in the box "%APPDATA%" (doesn't need to be caps). a folder should say .minecraft . open it.
2) Go to the bin folder, right click minecraft.jar and click open with winrar (or equivilant program)
3) simply drag the files from the downloaded file into your minecraft.jar file.
4) make sure META.INF is deleated. (dont open minecraft till this is done!)
5) close both files and start up minecraft.
if you done this all correctly when you start up a new world and dig around for a bit your shyould find the raw ores. Alternatly you can do the same steps with the Too Many Items mod and if ity shows up there youve done it correctly.
If your using modloader i would not recomand putting it into your mods folder. only minor mods should go into that folder i.e floodgate, buildcraft, buildcraft addons, etc.
Now back to my personal iew. im gonna use this mod more mainly because i think developement will be good in the future.
anothe rnote im if the mod owner wishes i can either make a video or post images on crafting recipes, installation instructions, or anything else people have trouble with.
Been gone all day, my apologies guys. This is in no particular order, I'm trying to address every point.
1) Images being broken will be addressed shortly, apparently Google+ is being a ***** about it. (SOLVED)
2) Ore Durability will be getting overhauled across the board, after playing it extensively earlier I figured out that the volume of ore and the durability of tools makes it so that you have way too much extra ore just floating about. So both will be getting toned down.
3) The "this tool mines this tool" will have to wait, its too much indepth editting that will break any compatibility this mod might have. You're welcome to do whatever with Infitools (The guy who makes Infitools actually told me when I finish my mod completely he'll support it so yay to all of you)
4) Diamond is still.. a thorn. The concept of diamonds being used for other mods means they have to stay in, that includes tools (Buildcraft using the Diamond Pickaxe for its recipe, I could change that to use something else though in an addon) however Diamonds just.. as a tool material seem silly to me. I guess its hypocritical considering I'm using various minerals that are in no way tool-worthy in my later versions (Malachite, Azurite, Cinnabar), but I'm just not a fan. I do want Adamantine to become the premier "top end" material however.
5) My apologies on the ModLoader note, when I removed the old instructions and notes, I completely forgot to mention this new version used it. I'll fix that now. (SOLVED)
6) The old configuration for Coal is fine, Coal is vital, its common, its used for a lot of base gameplay. Every ore I change in the configs makes it that much harder for compatibility, so for now I left Redstone, Coal, Lapus Lazuli, Gold, and Diamond alone. (Gold will be getting tweaked heavily with the Precious Metals bit). I'm considering changing Redstone to drop as Ore which is then ground into Redstone Dust.
7) Compatibility with Balkon's I'll have to look into at a later date, sadly as it stands the only compatibility I can guarantee will be in in the later versions will be IC2 (part of why the Dust system exists), Infitools (Thanks to the dev of that in IRC), and BC/others..
8) All ores have a new Brick texture for 9 of them together, my apologies forgot to mention that in the original post (with screenshot).
Because of what this mod changes, it must be installed directly into the .jar, Modloader will NOT run it in its current state until I have ForgeAPI.
*deep breaths*
Okay, back to work on the main post.. time to add in that modloader note.
So before bed I'm going to do a few tweaks and work on Armor some.. I completely derped and forgot it. It'll have placeholder graphics for now (of the color it is).
So much to do..
Edit: Also Armor's coding changed so I had to figure out the new way of implementing it, fun xD
yea i was gonna suggest armor but what about items to make from combining some of the rarer resources. similar to tin and copper making bronze. also what about stronger doors (mythrill doors for example). just a suggestion mate. and if you get SMP working that would be awsome!

Other metal doors for decoration was considered, with custom textures of course, that'd have to come with ForgeAPI though to keep from wasting a ton of IDs more.
Also as a note, I have armor working, but the texture is screwed up due to Notch's changes in 1.0.0, so it'll all show up as fur for the time being =/ I'll be working to get that rectified over the next few days.
Haha, was looking for tin to make bronze when I stumbled on a vein of adamantine. It was only one ore block and I couldn't really do much with it, but it really goes to show how the remodled ore engine can turn up a few pleasant surprises.

Oh yea I had some fun last night when mining and found some Mithril, was like damn, wasn't expecting that.

Nice one
Keep it up adding more materials and armors
The issue I currently have is, the more ore that populates the world means I need to lower the spawns of other ore or tool durability to match for balance. There are still quite a few ores I want to add (I think I may add Precious Metals today)

Try adding more ores in the Nether or even the End.
It could balance with the high ore density in the overworld.
I don't even wanna touch the End.. The Nether is coming eventually and I'll toss some more ores in there soon :wink.gif: gotta get a Firestone texture I like.

================================================================================ The Ore Process
================================================================================
1) Find a Vein (Ore Block) and mine it
2) Collect the Ore that drops from it
3) Place Ore in a Workbench to create Dust
3a) If you are making an alloy, mix the dusts to make it (Tin + Copper = Bronze, Iron + Manganese = Steel)
4) Smelt the Dust into Bars
5) Make the bars into whatever you wish
Interesting mod.. I would love to test it out, and give a proper review. So I'll do that later today. Thanks for making this mod, looks quite good for those that don't want the bulkiness of IC2.

================================================================================ Version B1.0.1 (Beta) For Minecraft 1.0.0! http://www.mediafire.com/?i39nc7223pu70kc
(Didn't use Adfly this time, it doesn't generate squat for revenue and its risky to the downloaders)
Would be nice to see a version for 1.8.1
I could have sworn there was one.

Ah crud I had taken down the 1.8.1 one (it was really buggy and such) if people really want me to put it back up I will. I just don't intend to develop it anymore past what it was.
Edit: Threw it back up there, figure you guys can enjoy it if you want. I just don't intend to develop it any farther.

Yes Platinum is blue, deal with it. I have 7 metals planned of various hues of grey, so I had to sacrifice one, and Platinum looks sexy.
