Yeah, I didn't expect an incremental like this to bork everything - but it does seem that 1.2.3 mods won't work in 1.2.4...
Oh great and I just got my server (well almost) to where I want it... minus railcraft....
Great now I have to wait for all the devs to update their mods to 1.2.4 before I can play again.....otherwise it will bork everything server included.... ish...my family is going to be mad at me when I have to shut our server down for a week or so...

Well in light of version MC 1.2.4, I figured I'd post what I have. The next Forge version will probably be for 1.2.4 anyway.
Some big new features this patch, including the World Anchor, Cart Linking, and an API. There is no World Anchor Cart yet, that will come later.
A note on Cart Linking, its not very useful yet. I'll let you figure out how to use it, but as a hint, the crowbar is involved.
For those using SMP, there remains a bug that will require to relog after your first log in or you wont be able to see any carts.
Current Version Notes:
Version 4.1.0
SMP
API - Experimental and largely undocumented.
Added basic cart linking - Mostly a novelty for the moment, don't expect to be able to use it for anything interesting yet. (issues with furnace cart, powered rails, holding rails, etc...)
Added World Anchor - A block that keeps 9 adjacent chunks loaded. Uses new Block Id, internally labeled as the Cube id.
Changed Concrete Block from Structure id to Cube id. Now blocks light and better performance. Existing Blocks will be converted automatically. Existing items will be labeled Obsolete, use them, they will be removed in a future patch.
Updated and improved Item Renderers.
Repulsive force of cart collisions reduced, almost impossible to get carts close together otherwise.
ok so i downloaded MLMP, ML and forge build 60 and put railcraft 4.1.0 in mods folder, everything loaded up fine.. placed some carts around and i noticed i cant access the inventory of tunnel borer, this is in SSP.

Hmm...it seems the GUIs on all the custom carts are broken, great.
Here's a question I've had for some time and stiil don't have an answer.
Just exactly which folder is the RailCraft.zip supposed to go in on the server?
I don't have a "mods" folder in my server folder.
Or am I supposed to just drop it in the server folder?

Laters!
Make a "mods" folder.
Well, I've found more SMP bugs! You can't break, ride, or interact with minecarts in SMP and I can't get the Bore or Energy Cart guis to work in SMP.
CovertJaguar is it possible to create curved tracks with a different radius than 90 or 45 degress? Or is this a limitation in how minecraft worlds work? It would be nice to have smooth turns around the minecraft world instead of just the basic 90 degree, or the faked diagonal 45 degree directions.
Also, is it possible for you to make upsidedown rails? Or rails that ride on the side of blocks? You could incorporate a "roller coaster" minecart that could take advantage of these new types of rails. I suspect this would probably be easier than the graduated turns rails.
And last, is it possible to create better transition rails for going up and down? Possibly incorporating putting rails on half slabs or RedPower 2 cross section slabs?

i think the breaking cart thing is a known vanilla issue, bukkit fixed this and the latest patch 1.2.4
