I encourage people to help me balance the resource cost of rails by voting
While I am not up to the point of high speed rails yet, I will say that those look fine for what they do. As for regular rails I think the rail beds are a touch high. Also with Creosote Oil, maybe 2 from charcoal, 3 from coal and add a new recipe for seeds that can create one. This might alleviate some of the costs as well as create a use for excessive seeds from wheat farms.
Is there a way to deploy a cart on a rail from a chest? And conversely, pick it up from the rail and place it in a chest? (I've found that RedPower can deploy a cart, but have not found anything to pick it back up). Thanks!

How i can change ID's of this mod block on my vanila server? there is no config file on server or server/config folders.
The config folder should be in the same folder as all the other server setting files. Right next to the world folder. It should have ModLoader.cfg and Railcraft.cfg in it.
I can create Stone Tie using Bronze (IC), but can't grab it? Bug? Not implemented?
There seems to be an issue with the server defining the recipes, not sure what the issue is yet but I'll look into it.
EDIT: Found the problem, and its much bigger than that one recipe. The server isn't doing any kind of mod detection, IC2 or Buildcraft. I'll have a fix for that up ASAP. This is what I get for not wanting to download the Buildcraft server files for testing. =P
I honestly cannot see how Railcraft could be the cause of that crash. You'd best ask the maker of mod_MineFactoryCompat_PamHarvestCraft.
To answer that (I wrote it) It appears you don't have Harvestcraft installed, so running the compat for it will give you that nullpointer, not sure how upgrading Railcraft would cause that, unless you have harvestcraft installed and you're not on windows and are suddenly getting bit by the load order funsies.
you should add some pictures of the uses of posts, how they look etc.
- also is there a way to nerf fire spread on the posts? i couldn't find any in the config, i wanted to use fire and wood.. i just wanna nerf the fire spread on those posts

Depends if the painter is implemented as part of the IC2 API. If its not part of the API I doubt I can make it work on the posts.
EDIT: It seems it is part of the API, need to work out the legality of IC2 addons before I do that though.
I was actually curious to see pics of some of your guy's structures, but there are some pics on the wiki. ^^
Um...there is not.
Let me reexplain, i am trying to make a sort of tiki torch pathway up to a trainstation - its designed to look Hawaiian and putting netherrack[and fire] next to the wooden post structure nearly burned it down, for some reason it burns rather slowly so i was able to extinguish it, regardless - can you add a config option to nerf it, or add in tiki torches?

I'm pretty sure that you can put torches on the top and sides of the posts. Also I think that adding some sort of fireproofing would be very useful for the wooden posts which you would craft into the posts after they are made.
The odd fire behavior is because I had to write my own burn code. The normal code is not metadata aware. It takes a bit to get started but once its spread around a bit you aren't going to put it out. =P
--------------------------
Now, the results of the speed rail poll are surprising me since the first poll said they were ok by a landslide. This second poll though is showing the complete opposite. =P
At least it seems that the normal rails are better.
And I have permission from Alblaka to move forward with IC2 integration, so expect to be able to use IC2 Painters to paint Iron Posts next patch. The existing recipes will remain of course. I can also move forward with the other ideas once I finish the next couple items on my todo list.
Is there a 1.7.3 version of this? Was hoping to use it with technic pack.
There is not, I started developing around the same time 1.8.1 came out. Though as far as I'm aware all the mods in the techinic pack have 1.8.1 versions. I really recommend updating. You're missing out on a lot from IC2 and buildcraft.

Due to the rather overwhelming results of my poll, I've increase the output of the normal rail recipe by 50% and the output of Creosote Oil by one. =P
Replaced the poll with a new one, please vote based on the new costs.
Patch Notes:
Not yet.

Server should now be doing mod detection. If your only playing singleplayer this changes nothing for you.

Believe he just did that with dyes---don't even need the painter, just dye. Hope this helps.
