People, this is a legit fix. The exploit is well known by those who seek to use it. sk89q is a respected and trusted member of the Minecraft community. They made worldedit and worldguard, and chances are, if you play on multiplayer, you use at least one of those. They have also contributed to bukkit. This person knows what they're doing, and they're not some selfish jerkass trying to steal your info. They're trying to help you keep it from being stolen. Please stop reporting the thread.

Kind of obvious for people who actually read though the whole thread, but.
lol wth is this really there because that is scary I mean they can log into your acount just by your name lol that seriously has to be fixed. But um what if you are like careful you said they can only do that if you log onto their server right so as long as you stay away from people you dont know or trust you should be fine no?
Yeah.
There's still another way (though not as great as this way) to spoof names, so generally you should avoid joining random servers.
well yeah randomness is bad but when new servers come out how will you know ya know so its really come down to whether you want to be super safe or take a chance and play with others but in any case this should really help with security and still I hop ethey take care of this asap because it is pretty scary when you think that you just so happen to pop into a server to see ho wand what it is all about and they steal your info its like makes you paranoid lol
This will only prevented CRACKED AND I REPEAT CRACKED minecraft clients
no, the exploit can also work if you login using a legit client too. It's a server-side hack.
Thanks sk89q for proactively covering our asses. I don't see why Mojang don't just fly you to Sweden and stuff your pockets with cash to take care of multiplayer in a way they have not been able to.
This mod FIXES the exploit where people take your account. It does not TEACH/SHOW you how to take any accounts. It prevents your Minecraft account from being taken. It will help keep your Minecraft account safe from people that make Minecraft Servers just to take your account.
really notch? really?... fix your damn game...

Thanks sk for another great mod/plugin - you've done so much for the smp community and now your stepping into the single player realm :smile.gif:

Thanks,

Yes, as of about 2-3 days ago. If you have an older version then your server is vulnerable.
And on that note, if you use 1.7 still, then you are vulnerable.
Check out my Minecraft server.
