What do you think about the nr 1 complaint people had..spawn rate.
Also why should he have to take other peoples models.
Programming is long and tedious and trouble shouting can be and is annoying. There will always be bugs. Just be grateful he is working on it.
Besides, who are we to say how long and hard he should work on it.
i know programing to an extent actually, and all im saying is he needs to stop saying he will do things when he isnt delivereing those things, i wouldnt be complaining if you want to call it that if he had never said he would have made the dev kit version and that he would have it out in a "week"
First off, Millenaire already had the code set up so it was just a matter of making it 1.1 compatible. The code for the towns was not already there for this mod. You might think there isn't a lot of work going into this mod but that just shows how little you know about programming. This stuff takes alot of work and time to do. Which was my point when I was talking about the villages. I think anyone who programs can agree with me when I say that modding is one of the most belittled aspects of programming because anyone who doesnt program and uses mods usually think that this stuff is easy and only takes a few hours to do which just isnt true. Unless you can program yourself and you have worked with minecraft code, you should not be saying that not much work is being put into this stuff.
Oh, definitely took more time to code. There's no questioning that. I fully understand that it's a bunch of work to do an overhaul of a feature (or, if he's not replacing them, completely adding a generating feature, and you factor in that it's not all he's doing). Though, if I recall, he's been talking about this stuff since before the adventure update. It's been quite a long time. Only Sea knows what kind of time he's putting in. I'm not trying to be critical. I genuinely appreciate the work, as it's clear he's got a ton of time into this. I was guessing that, more recently, his time spent on this project has gone down.
What i'd prefer to see in the future is just doing the 1.1 update before the structural content updates. But yeah, not up to me to decide. Though, even more preferably, I'd like him to bring in some help so the workload is lessened and the updates are quicker. Again, not my thing to decide, just stating what sounds ideal to me.

Hell, if you say you would do it if he gave you the rights, I know something you might want to know.... you don't need his permission to write your own pokemon mod. Alright, chop chop! Get to work!
Now to be serious. The only thing that he isn't "delivering" on is when the update will come out. The dev kit thingy, he said won't be coming out until the update after this one. So don't know why you're upset about that. Thing is, if you have ever done any programming work outside of a school environment then I really don't see where you got the idea that someone would always meet their deadlines. I'm a freelance programmer myself and of all the other freelance programmers I have met or talked to, I have only met 1 who always met their deadlines. Now unless you're her (your name isn't joline is it?), chances are you haven't done any kind of major programming to think that just because he can't meet a deadline (which he probably set more for himself than us btw) means that he isn't capable of doing it himself or that he isn't putting enough time and effort into it. To even say those things is very disrespectful to him and any programmer. If you think that he works too slowly, just do it yourself. Like I said, you don't need his permission to write your own pokemon mod. Just stop complaining and being disrespectful and do it yourself. If you can't, stop whining and let him work. This stuff takes time, Sea is allowed to work at any pace he wants and if you don't like it, well, nobody is forcing you to use this mod.

He does need permission in order to use Sea's code to build off of it. I can level with him in that Sea probably shouldn't constantly tell us it'll be out in a "few days" and then a week goes by, he says "sorry, been busy, but few more days!" and then another week, rinse and repeat. 1.2 will be out very soon and then he'll have even more to update. I am not complaining right now in the slightest, as I do work on a much larger scale and deadlines get pushed back all the time, but you need to convey that to your customer better maybe? I don't blame Sea for this at all, as he's still in college and learning.

I know he needs permission to use Sea's code but what I said was for him to write the whole thing himself. He said he would do it and he doesn't need permission to write himself and if he thinks he can do a better job then I say have at it. I do agree however that Sea should convey the fact that his deadlines will get pushed back but thats something that most programmers understand right away. So for all you non-coding types out there, let me just say that when you get told a deadline, double or even triple the time that was given to you otherwise you will almost always be disappointed.
to all the people attacking him, and all the others defending him, let me, make you guys to know that he is putting all his effort to get this done, and by the other side he doesnt cares about you guys criticizing his work, and by the way he doesent gets money for this, so do not put pressure on him, he has a life (i think) so when he release the Mod, you will download it ok, SO ALL OF YOU STOP WHINING, AND THE OTHER ONES STOP ATTACKING HIM ,AND THE LAST ONES STOP ARGUING ABOUT PROGRAMING THINGS OTHER PEOPLE DONT REALY CARE

severely disappointed that this hasn't updated, was going to donate towards the project but it just doesn't seem to be happening here. Hope manatee finds a moment soon, but for now I've stopped hoping.

This is true, and like I said, I know he is in college and still learning. In the real world you plan for hiccups and debugging, and what ever you THINK will be the due date...tell the employer/customer/who ever that it'll be 2x as long as that, AFTER you take into account the debugging process and any unforeseen hiccups. All good learning experience I say.
Yes but Sea didn't actually start villages a month ago when he actually hasn't added any content since 1.7 which means what has he been doing the months before?
Being human. Balancing real life issues and demands, as well as free time management.
I am ignorant on this first point, so correct me if I'm wrong - I would assume several things with Millenaire. One: There's multiple people working on that mod. Two: Millenaire was already a fully functional, established mod before 1.1 came out, or very close to it.
The comparison between Millenaire and Pokemobs is grossly out of proportion. Millenaire is more or less a finished mod; pokemobs is barely halfway to its 1.0 release. Cut him some slack, he does have a lot of stuff to get done with this mod.
Ok first off, I'm not DEMANDING anything. I am very grateful that sea is taking time out of school and his personal life to work on this amazing mod. But i'm curious about what sea and other people on the forum think of my idea's.
ok 1. I think you should be able to have more than one pokemon out at a time like in the early stages of the mod. I know it wouldn't be 'Authentic pokemon like' but i liked how it was. i built a Forest room full of caterpie, metapod, and butterfree.
And 2. I think there should be other evolution's walking around rather than just the 1st forms. I mean maybe not a charizard roaming around. but i think it would be cool to see like Butterfree's, Raticate's, Pidgeotto's and Pidgeot's walking around so you could catch them. Just a thought.
I'd like to know what you guys think. Sorry for the long read and any grammar errors. And keep up the great work Sea, your doing a awesome thing.
I reckon that the release/return system will be worked on later down the track - double battles and all that, after all. An alternative could be to set up a system by which you can get wild pokemon to follow you the way cattle do, but which requires you build up friendship with them first; you can then herd them via a berry or some other similar item, which can also be used to breed them at later stages in the mod's development. Tamed pokemon would not be marked as hostile or hostile to your captured pokemon unless attacked by you.
One of my concerns with the current releases of the mod is that friendly Pokémobs can be attacked by more than one hostile Pokémobs. I mean, it's hard enough to have 1 on 1, but 2 and 3 on 1 is ridiculous...
Personally, I like this. It makes me laugh pretty hard watching my pokemon get axed by six or seven others (sadistic, I know... :tongue.gif:), but it's pretty rewarding when you can wipe out a full swarm of pokemon with one of your own.
I do agree that multiple pokemon should be usable at one time, though, since the mod isn't using the direct control concept for battles.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Thing with younger people (I say this as one of the aforementioned 'younger people') is a lot of us don't really have a good grasp on how to handle tonnes of deadlines at the same time - a lot also have trouble with prioritizing their deadlines.
Now, obviously, if Sea is a school/college/university student, he's going to have his education deadlines set as his highest priority. Add a social life on top of that, then possibly work if he has a job. Then add on his actual free time - which, after everything else, he's not going to have too much of - along with unpredictable obstacles such as illness, relationships, feral animals, etc. The section on the pie graph that represents pet project time gets pretty bloody small :tongue.gif:
Yes, he could probably work on it faster, and he should definitely be a little more realistic with the amount of work he can do on the mod at any given time - but he is working on it, and doing what he can with the time and motivation he has. However long he takes to get it done is how long it takes, and while some of us might be able to do it faster, he's the only one who can do it the way he has it in mind.
He does need permission in order to use Sea's code to build off of it.
The point was that the poster you're defending was, however inadvertently, suggesting he could do a better job of the mod. The person you quoted was suggesting that person make his own version if he's dissatisfied with the speed at which the mod is progressing. He's very much aware of the issues and permissions involved with working on someone else's project; he was simply making a point through the same context the other person was using in the post in question.
Now, if you can manage to work out who I'm talking about at any given time in that last paragraph, power to you. I've forgotten their names =X
Suggestion on combat mechanics: perhaps implement a few basic, global commands that pokemon adhere to and override any move commands that have been made? It would be good if we could give the command for a pokemon to 'retreat', 'attack what I'm pointing at', or 'come back to me', etc... in situations where they're necessary.
Mod ideas in my profile info! Send me a message or post in one of the threads if you're interested.

not related to the topic but the cats now have a use. so all people who have location saying they suck while then change that quick because cats now keep creepers away . :smile.gif:
You know people, iv been reading the past few days of the forum, and all i see is B****** B***** B***** but no one helping this guy... other thin ideas that will take time to proses and develop, People CALM DOWN, this is maybe two people working on this in THERE free time.
This Pokemods is a great idea, and hell i wanted to do the same thing along with hundred of other thing, But I'm poor, and cant program and am still relatively new to minecraft. For those who B***** about it not being done and can do something about offer to help, if any one can help OFFER IT!!!! Give him a team to work with and time, not much can be done with out those. we have time and time is all some of us got, if you cant help don't b**** about it just wait, it will happen even if this guy is not the one to do it, I'm damned confident that he will pass it to a team that can finish it.
So people just wait, offer to assists if you can, by donating, lending your programing skills, and lvling your ideas so there workable
Remember we all want this mod to succeed and grow and its not going to happen if we cant remember that!
Yea it can be a bit ridiculous sometimes... most of the time I am able to hit them up with some wheat before they die... but sometimes you miss click and they die. but yay for potions and revives in the next patch! :biggrin.gif:
