I am in no way a coder, a guru, or any other tech savvy persona. I have however seen this happen with the minimap and I found a fix. Ready? Play in survival. Sounds crazy I know, but I've been rebuilding a base and I go into a single play map in creative, and I see what you have posted here. But on the SMP server in survival, it's fine. So on a hunch, I went back into the single player map, change to survival and there it was. Give it a try. Only a few lines to type, and good luck.

this will be the first mod i install for minecraft…the only problem is i can't get it to work properly. I downgraded to 1.7.2 and installed it directly to the .jar folder and deleted the META-INF folder. still isn't working for me tho. I am working off of a mac. anything helps.

What version did you download?
You should only modify the main minecraft jar by hand if you installing the 1.7.2 non forge beta.

Its been around a long time and Rei still updates it. However, his last release didn't include a forge compatible version.

I downloaded the non forge 1.7.2 version. main reason why is because i don't understand how to use forge or ever heard of it till this thread.

Why is this not updated with the latest version any more? I find working versions on other very odd websites that are surprisingly not viruses but this is rarely the current version.

Make sure to delete meta inf, there is alot of tutorials on youtube on how to install Reis Minimap this way. If I wasn't at uni I would link you to one :c Sorry I can't be of more help.

There is only 1.7.2 MCP Sure, you can update reis to that version but its not worth the effort given the small amount of changes between 1.7.2. and 1.7.5.
I wouldn't trust any of these downloads that aren't on PlanetMC or here... Malicious code is hard to detect inside jar files (many reasons I wont list here)

Hello. I hadn't played minecraft for a long time and just updated today. I have forge and all that and I have this version working, except there's no map inside the compass circle. Luckily my old waypoints are working, but a map without a map...well I don't know what to do.

Edit - To be clear, the map is usually inside the compass for the first one or maybe two seconds after the game loads up. It then disappears as soon as I move the mouse.

I have Soartex Fanver, Optifine, a shaders mod, and toomanyitems.

Let's try to bring some order to this chaos. Is there any way to get info on this mod current? After 350 pages of issues, misinformation, good information, comments, questions, and whatnot, it would be helpful to see a single page with current info on how to download and install this mod in current releases. If someone came along and combined the features of Rei's and mapwriter, it would be pretty great. I miss some of the features that Rei's has but I can't get it to work correctly.

I don't like your mod please make the entities radar like it's in zan's minimap (showing mob heads player heads/names)
When you renove the ugly dots from the map and put there mob heads then i will download your minimap!

Does the 1.7.2 version released on Rei's twitter also work for 1.7.4 or 1.7.5? The bugs in 1.7.2 are really annoying.

But i just want to say here that i'm using Zan's Map on a survival server, but the rules say that minimaps are not allowed there no guy on the server will know it i have found many bases that i had raided (Griefing allowed) with rei map i need a entitiesradar forcer. Thats it why zan's map is better
