Uh.... Where are the installation instructions? How do I install it?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I joined in 1.2.5, summer 2012. First thing I ever built was a bunker in a hill next to a swamp, that had a diamond block entrance with a piston door, with bedrock and minecart tracks further in. I wish I'd kept the map around.
I tend to agree. As long as people have the option to turn off a feature then its entirely up to them if they use it or not. I also use Zombe's mod and I don't use many of its features [like flying] as for me that's not in keeping with the original intent of the game. But my lad loves it as he's heavily into designing and uses it al the time. I even had to move the score mod's icon to the middle of the screen because on the left it interferes with info re his flying and on the right it is hidden by this map. Thankfully the author of the score mod put options in to cater for others.
To the author:
Now that Notch has added maps I feel its okay to use one, especially as yours is so much better than his. given an option I'd want to have to craft it first but that's entirely up to the the author [you] to decide.
BTW, I tried the other map to be fair to the other modder and apart from it lagging really badly, it wasn't a patch on yours. The only thing it did better was to have a round map without the square boarders yours has. But then again my lad says its a good thing as it shows more land beyond the circle. Also yours doesn't overwrite any existing files and has all but one file in an easy to install folder.
Incidently, after removing your map and all its original files. I tried the other map and then reinstalled yours again and the waypoints I had made were still there. So I'm wondering if you could tell me where they are located in the game?
Cheers...........

How is this relevant on a minecraft creative server or in single player?
Why do people have to get so precious?
I like that idea marking maps besides waypoints
but I'd also like to see something like this maybe biome boarders?
boatmania would be good for this it was still maintained. http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/boatmania/
Once a course is plotted the course should be able to be displayed in minimap.
Hello Rei I'd like to point this out to you, I did post this in the XYcraft thread but I know it's really something that needs to be worked on in the minimap mod.
Right... this is probably an issue with Rei's minimap but I thought I'd post it here anyways since it is XYcraft related.
See in the image that is the enlarged map of Rei's minimap. That grey area you see are XYcraft blocks, what else you see is that apparently Rei's minimap shows them being semi-transparent, you can see stuff under the ceiling/floor of the flat area, although the base ground level blocks aren't transparent or they at least don't show the what they are covering. Also different colored blocks don't show their colors in the minimap, they just show as grey/blackish grey blocks which I know is something Soaryn and Rei will need to work out.
Hope you can get some compatibility for XYcraft at some point because the epic XYcraft block colors not showing on the minimap and the annoying transparency of the blocks is well... annoying
Anyways just thought I'd drop this in here and let it be known the issue exists.

I would like to second hiding the ip addresses of the servers. As a streamer it can get you ddos'd to show the ip adddress on screen even if it is whitelisted. If you can't change the way its stored give us an option to leave off the ip address from the on screen statement and just say waypoints loaded.
I think I asked this before but I can't find my post.. Does this mod work on all previous versions of Minecraft even if it's the most recent update of Rei's?
Excuse me while I check to be sure I read all of the main post.. Sorry if it answers it .
Edit: Please tell me I'm dumb for not seeing a "1.4.2" download link on the 3.2.05 version of this..
Suggestion, add the ability to fade out way points after a certain distance. For example all way points within x distance will show, but after that the others will not show until they are within x distance of the player. This would help with people who have many way points so as to not clutter up their screen.
Did the Nether mapping break when Minecraft moved to the anvil file format? Maybe Rei used the maximum height halved as the top layer to start mapping Nether and now that is the top of the bedrock and not the insides.
I'm not actually sure ~when~ exactly Nether Mapping broke, on the Minimap. I decided to go back through my jar archives, and as far back as 1.3.2 Full Release ~all~ have the current "Gray landscape, dotted with squares of light brown" mapping (obviously Bedrock and Dirt, and the map is mapping the ceiling).
I unfortunately don't have any jars prior to 1.3.2, so I can't investigate the matter further back in the timeline... maybe someone else knows when it happened, and why, so Rei might be able to "fix" this.
I do know, at least, that "The End" mapping is still spot on (did a quick test of that, this morning).

Well, the End doesn't have a ceiling and Rei's maps the top blocks. The lighter blocks you see on the Nether map are mushrooms, there's no dirt in the Nether. They spawned there after the change to anvil region format because it is dark and it wasn't specified that they shouldn't spawn there. It's fixed, though, but already spawned shrooms will still stay.
Ah. Makes sense to me. I'm still trying to figure out ~when~ the mapping of The Nether broke... I could have sworn I've seen it ~working~ at some point.
And... huh... I could have sworn that was ~dirt~ up on the top of my Nether... next time I'm on my PC I'm going to have to check that out. Not that I don't believe you (because I've been up there and saw the Mushrooms chilling out up there, myself), but because I could have ~sworn~ it looked like the Mushrooms were growing on Dirt blocks, up there. O_o
Anyone else having a problem with the waypoints not reloading? Running 1.4.5 with Forge 397. I can create waypoints in game and even exit and reload the game just fine but if I completely shut the game down and then restart it, all my previous waypoints are gone.
Not sure if this has been posted already but anyone else experiencing a crash when launching with both the map and Better than Wolves installed? I know FlowerChild may have intentionally removed the compatibility but it would be nice to use both mods again. Anyone know of a work around?
Hey Rei, I was wondering, since i am an avid Towny user and World Edit user if you could put in an option to mark chunks. For example when you have the chunk grid on you could click on a chunk on your mini map and it marks it with an opacity color.

I second this. It would be a wonderful addition.
