If the server owners are that against having a mini-map on their server, they can set the MOTD to disallow it. As a server owner, I have absolutely no problem with the entity radar or cave map. I would make it so that if there is no MOTD, the entity radar is enabled by default, along with there being a MOTD that doesn't include the code to disable it.

Cave mapping and entities radar of the SMP is disabled by default.
When the server owner (using bukkitplugin/other) sets the key word to motd(login message), they become effective.

LOL i was just about to post that nice lil tidbit of info but the above poster beat me to it. What is it they say about great minds? So, just to repeat, if you are using the ModLoader version, you can just drop the zip into your .minecraft/mods folder. Has been working for me and is much easier than messing with the JAR. This is just a heads-up for less experienced folks that might not know about it. Enjoy.
Then if I use Modloader I just put the zip into the .minecraft/mods folder BUT, I need to delete the uq.class from it?

Correct. That seems to be one way of installing.
My personal experience: I use Modloader. Dropping the whole zip into .minecraft/mods, without deleting any files has been working for me. Just an easier way to install.
I have verified compatibility with OptiFine_1.7.3_HD_F.
But it is not compatible with Improved Chat.2.4.7 (if not using ModLoader) minimap is not visible

I was thinking, if Zans Minimap was so popular, then it would be better.
Definatly not the case. This is amazingly good. I really have no clue why it isn't as popular.

I was a big fan of Zan's; this has more features, and it's graphics are astounding! I'm certainly replacing Zan's with this. This is most likely not as popular because it only came out recently, Zan's was the best alternative for a while before this.

This was made Aether compatible just before the v1.4 update. Works just fine in the Aether for me. Give it a try :smile.gif:
