Ok, I ran it with the console, here's the output from the moment I entered the hole in the wall that starts the stuttering:
(Atmos.Cond) CRocksAR turned off <--- Stepping into the hole. Stuttering begins in about 3 seconds.
(Atmos.Set) SRockShelter turned off
(Atmos.Env) ERockShelter is now disabled.
(Atmos.Cond) CWaterClose turned on <--- This is where I stepped out of the hole. Stuttering fades after about 5 seconds.
(Atmos.Set) SWaterClose turned on
(Atmos.Env) EWaterConstant is now active.
I hope this is more useful than it looks.. :sad.gif:
Installed your mod, it really adds something to the game!
im just wondering, is there any way to get Better Grass AND AtMos working? when AtMos is installed, all the side of grass blocks are grey, looking like the texture pallete hasn't been applied, i tried installing Better grass AFTER your mod, but then yours didnt work
If it comes down to a coice of the 2, yours is gonna stay, but in an ideal world...

I am depressed in reading this thread, as I seem to be the only one so far who is having horrendous difficulties with MATMOS. I've installed the mod itself and modloader as per the instructions given, and whilst it loads fine the lag that seems to be effecting every location I visit is making it unplayable :sad.gif:. I have tried it both offline and in my privately run server and whilst there are periods of smooth running there are constant frame drops and even stages of complete screen freeze as the sounds seem to reverberate and cacophony into a huge crescendo. I'm not the most tech savvy person so I have no idea what's causing it, but I thought I should at least inform the mod maker himself. (The mod looks fantastic btw).
You are definitely not the only person having stuttering problems, myself and at least one other person have been working with the author trying to figure out the cause.
However, maybe I can do something in the next update by adding something to measure the players' health, so that it can be used as a condition in the database.
Ooh.. a quickening heart beat as your health drops, starting at like 3 hearts would be pretty awesome. However, I don't think that should be a part of this mod - it's MAtmos - it should be all atmospheric stuffs. It would probably be better if you focused on a single aspect - once you start adding non-atmospheric stuff it'll go all over the place.
I think I've solved it, at least for myself. Here's what I did:
Open the matmos_default.dat in a text editor. the first few lines show some sound events followed by 5 numbers then some path info for the sound files. The only changes I have made are to replace the 5th number of "SndCaveRumble" and "SndLavaSimulator" from 0 to 32. Don't get me wrong, I don't really know what I'm doing here.. all I know is that the game doesn't stutter and have reverb-y sound after I made this change. I hope this is helpful!
other than that, I have to say this is one of the best mods. doesn't mess up the core gameplay that makes minecraft minecraft and its relaxing to sit outside and listen to the birds frogs etc. thank you for this mod :smile.gif:

I've pretty much identified which part of the code is potentially able to clog the game.
I've got to rethink an entire section to fix it, I'll try to figure it out as fast as I can!

This mod doesn't seem to be working for me. I installed ModLoader and I put all the files in the right place, but it's not playing any ambient sounds. I'm not using MCPatcher and I don't have any other mods installed.
This might be a stupid question, but you don't say in the forum post or in the readme file what "patch.properties" is for. Can you explain that somewhere, because I'm afraid to delete it in case it's important.
MCPatcher is just an installation tool (am I right?), I'm just saying that this installation tool will not work on MAtmos (due to resource files). Both mods require ModLoader on runtime. So you can use both at once.
No, he's talking about another MCPatcher (apparently some sorts of mod installer). I agree that this can be confusing though.
MCPatcher(since version 2.1) can install other mods as well as patching Minecraft for HD textures. What Hurricaaane is talking about is that this mod's main zip folder cannot simply be used if you wish to install MATMOS with MCPatcher, since the resource files would then be placed inside minecraft.jar too. However, this can get confusing, and since many people don't use MCPatcher to install any mods other than HD patching and Bettergrass, I think it would be better to simply remove that line. Even for those who do, on occasion, use that useful feature(such as myself), this sort of situation is common when installing and a user of MCPatcher's mod installing feature should know to only place the class files in minecraft.jar, and the rest be placed manually inside .minecraft. Therefore, that line should be removed in order to avoid confusion. As of right now, many potential installers of this amazing mod are not installing it due to confusion regarding that line.

NB: You can install this mod's classes by compressing all the class files into a zip, then putting that in the .minecraft/mods folder
It's basically a project using the creative commons licence for sounds, so as long as you credit authors your fine using their materials
Also, epic mod, convinced me to make my first ever forum post lol.

So this is incompatible with HD Texture packs?
Pity, this looks very interesting.

Ah. Well, that's good. Installing this immediately.
I came.
