i just found a glich... if a wolf is in the suckable range of more than 1 despinser a wolf block will be in all which it was suckable... this only works when its at about the same time... but YOU CAN GET 10 WOLF BLOCKS PER WOLF
Well, no...theoretically, you could only get 6 :smile.gif:
But yes, I'll have to fix that. Thanks for pointing it out, even if all the large red text wasn't really neccessary :wink.gif:
well a wolf cood be in 2 blocks or 4 or evin 8 blocks at the same time... so if you time it right you can get 24 wolf blocks at a time
finally my net is back up! so here are the pics to explain the issue with the light blocks
This works perfectly. the dirt block is receiving power and all 4 light blocks are on
but when a light block is the middle block only the bottom block gets power :sad.gif:
I think i can help,
Light blocks draw there power indirectly, but don't put out power themselves.
pic 1) the light blocks are getting power from the powered dirt block.
pic 2) the two light blocks that are on are getting power, but the others are not near any power source.
If light blocks gave out power when they were turned on, Then you would get what you want, but that's not how it works :tongue.gif:
If you could pleeeease make a separate mod for cement that would be awesome, i just want it cuz i can see LOTS of conflicts with all my mods if i install everything! yet i do reaaally want cement!!
On another topic, I've been messing around with the detector block, and I ran into a problem :
Nothing can grow in the block facing the detector. (let's call it the Signal block)
Yup, I understand exactly what you mean. I've actually discovered the same thing with redstone dust not being placeable in fron of the detector.
Will fix this for the next version. There's bound to be some problems to start with those invisible blocks as they are such a huge addition to the way the code works :smile.gif:
Quote from Battosay »
Regarding the previous posts about how to use the detector with minecarts, I've noticed that you could make it send a signal when a minecart comes with a design like that :
Cool design man! That makes sense.
Quote from Battosay »
So, since I can't make my farm even more automated, I'm working on a water-lava show using the detector and the dispensers altogether. HUGE possibilities actually, but it need to go back to my old mines, where I ne"ver even bothered to take the lapis, all because of you and your expensive receipe :tongue.gif:
Lol! Yeah, Lapis is actually rather plentiful IF you bother to pick it up. I had enough stored away for two full stacks of blocks :wink.gif:
Can't wait to see your water/lava show man. That sounds cool :smile.gif:
Btw, I had a thought about your obsidian factory: because of the way the code works, I suspect you can also use sugar cane instead of redstone, and possibly even tree saplings, for the same glitch to trigger. I haven't tried it myself, but you might want to give it a shot :smile.gif:

No. Check the posting guidelines in the OP.

Ah! Now I understand. Cool man, I'll see what I can do.

Thus the issue :tongue.gif: Flower already said that a powered light block should be able to pass on its power to neighboring light blocks.
Quote from Flowerchild »
The short-version is that the light-blocks are indirectly powered, which means they get powered if a current runs directly to them, or to a neighboring block (excluding diagonals).
That happens whether the neighboring block is another light-block or not, so not sure what you mean about light-blocks passing current to each other.
I put up the pics because i couldnt correctly describe the issue i was having with them.
If light blocks gave out power when they were turned on, Then you would get what you want, but that's not how it works :tongue.gif:
Yup. I'm in the middle of fixing it guys, so don't sweat it. It's a bug, not a feature :wink.gif:
It has to do with the light-blocks being transparent, and thus according to the (rather messed up) redstone code, that means that they can't pass on power through the normal means, and I have to write specific code to handle it.
I suspect the same thing would happen if you dropped a glass-block in the middle instead of the dirt in the previous example.
Opacity is used to test for all kinds of messed-up unrelated stuff in the Minecraft code (like the conductivity of a material...which is annoying, because every block has a material associated with it that these kinds of properties should probably have been assigned to). I really don't like how this was done, but have to live with it :smile.gif:
Edit: Since a picture is worth a thousand words...
Fixed :smile.gif:
I'd normally be a bit worried about the fine control this takes away from powering them individually (like for a disco-floor), but considering the focused redstone torches are about to provide the ultimate in disco-floor capability, I'm not going to sweat it :wink.gif:

Couldn't make it more clear.
Here's how I'd do it :
From left to right :
The dirt path : Only for the left one
The wool : For the middle and the bottom one.
The wood : For the right and the top one.
You can make it many different ways, according to the configuration of your room, but it's one of the easiest. Also, you should know that you could connect them by under, with a torch (watch one of flower previous post, he showed a picture about that), or by wiring the block right above your light block.

I take this to mean the point at which the FRTs laser hits a solid object will be lighted up? Possibly with glass lighting up the color of the beam (if, as i remember you saying something about earlier, you add differently-colored FRT lasers).
*realization sets in*
Woah, woah, WOAH. Could i actually build an inefficient and massive screen with these?

Yeah, that's what I've always meant about "display device" in the description :smile.gif:
One of the reasons I originally thought of these things is that I was trying to figure out how to build a display device (as in, a screen) for an in-game version of Pong I was trying to design. With these, you can "project" onto a surface at a distance.
So, it doesn't matter if your projector winds up being the size of a mountain, the screen can have densely packed "pixels" (each the size of a block) of various colors on its surface. Since the beam won't take any time to travel from source to destination, this will also avoid any weird timing issues.
And it's not dependant on glass. The torch will project color onto whatever solid surface it hits. It probably won't project on glass at all, with glass only serving to dissipate the beam.
So yeah man, the focused torch is the shiznit. It's got a very wide range of uses from detection, to long-distance and vertical signal transmission, to display.
That's why I've always wanted this thing, and why it has been such a big deal to design it properly :wink.gif:
[*** NEWS ***]
Ok guys, I've managed to dodge around it this long, going to great lengths yesterday in particular to avoid it, but I don't think there's any way I can avoid modifying the world class with this mod any longer.
In order to fix the issues with these invisible blocks I've been talking about, like crops not being able to grow in them and such, I'd likely have to modify a good 10 or so other base classes in order to avoid modding world.
This just doesn't make sense in terms of planning for the future of this mod. I think it's just time I accept that the functionality I have in there, and am planning, is just too substantial to get around this. It's obviously a choice other modders have made as well, or they wouldn't have modified this base class either.
So, my apologies to those of you that are using other mods that will no longer be compatible with this one, but I think when faced with the hard choice between increased compatibility, and increased functionality, I have to bite the bullet and go with the latter.
So yeah, from this point forward, if you want another mod to be compatible with this one, you're likely going to have to go bug the other guy for the change :wink.gif:
You were a big help in checking out AutoID and thanks to you I no longer use that.
It seems fairly ligit to me man, but I've never used it myself.
I certainly don't have the same "how the heck is he doing that?" reaction to the whole idea like I did with AutoID :smile.gif:
Keep in mind though, that there's a huge number of warnings in the mod description, and I think you should pay attention to them. It sounds like it mucks with existing save-files pretty heavily.

Yay!!! Ty for the fix. Now I can work on my flashing sign project
Np man :smile.gif:
Sigh...I'm neck deep in compatibility issues trying to decide what the best course of action is. Just one of those days I guess :smile.gif:
I was wondering if this was compatible with mac. The mod looks great and i want to use it just cant figure out how. any help is appreciated. oh and i love the name :smile.gif:

I'm sorry man, but I don't know squat about macs :smile.gif:
Assuming you have instructions to install any mod on a mac though, there's no reason why this one shouldn't work.
Anyone out there have a bit more experience with them?
:biggrin.gif: I finally got my server working with multiverse! Hope you get all the coding in you want done flower, I'm exploring the nether in multiplayer!
Cant Waite for your mod to work for servers! *hint hint*
Great work on your mod! Too bad about the title, but I'm not going to pester you about it, I already know your stance on that.
Idea: FlowerChild, what do you think of a possible way to "upgrade" the Detector Block.
I'm thinking you would craft the Detector Block with Block Dispenser or something similar. The result would be a Detector Block with a GUI that opens when you right click with a empty hand. There would be (9?) spaces that you could put items and/or blocks. This would make it only send red-stone power when it detects whats in it. This could be useful for say, only x number of diamonds would open the door.

I like pie. The answer to Life, The Universe, and Everything Else, is 42. That's a very nice Flying Ssssspaghetti Monssssster monument you have there, it would be a ssssshame if sssssomthing were to happen to it. Sssss . . ..
